  • Its so easy to kill this guy though. He doesn't put up much cop.

  • And this is from Batman?

  • @RobloxMan241 No, Batman Returns.

  • No wonder people call him Mr. Penguin

  • a penguin is a bird that cannot fly.....

    no shit

  • realy the best penguin ever

  • one of the greatest Danny's roles ever

  • The only other Oswald I know is Oswald The Lucky Rabbit. :p

  • super film et dany est superbe !

  • I love DeVito's Penguin. Too bad Tim Burton never made a movie starring Scarecrow. This character is so Burton's type

  • I love how serious he is right here.

  • I played this stinking city like a harp from hell!

  • deeandra, go download me a hoagie from the internet.

  • great movie!!dark atmosphere like the very comics book!!!

  • I am a man!!

    *punch*

  • "My name is Oswald Cobblepot! Now.....who wants to get sweaty in a Wendy's bathroom?"

  • Oops, i dropped my magnum condom for my monster dong.

  • I am a man! I have a name! And i'm 40

  • Comment removed

  • lmao...why am i laughing soo damn hard?? >XD

  • I am a man! I have a name! "penguinman meatballpot"

  • Thank you Tim Burton, you gave us the best Penguin ever.

  • and later he says I AM NOT A MAN I AM AN ANIMAL COLDBLOODED

  • @darkitten1 I know and that`s sad that He sees himself as one. :(

  • the tim burton batman movies are the best, i liked the dark knight but still....these movies have a more artistic vision that Tim Burton always puts in his movies, and the newer batman movies have that realistic feeling to them

  • i have this on dvd this movie is ammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmazing

  • So are you a man or an animal? Make up ur mind dumbass!!!

  • Iam A Man I Have A Name.....OSWALD COBBLEPOT

  • i think some of the performances in these tim burton batman films get overlooked and are underrated. nicholson was fantastic as the joker in the first one (he just gets overshadowed by ledger's joker), and devito was a perfect cast for the penguin.

  • @16moviefan Because everyone thinks Nolan is a flawaless God when it comes to batman which i strongly disagree, he's not as bad as Schumacher but he's not that great. Have you seen what Bane now looks like? Ugh.

  • @starkiller20293 I'm actually liking what he's doing with the Bane character. It'll be a nice change from him being portrayed as a dumb muscle. Nolan's problem with the Batman films is that he spends too little time on giving the characters any depth. They all have their shticks and your basic movie-induced drama/tension and that's pretty much it. I'm hoping his Bane will be interesting (at the very least).

  • @Danthepest1 Bane in the comics was never an idiot. But Nolan doesn't stay accurate to the comics very much.

  • @starkiller20293 What I meant was that aside from the comics, the animated series and the Arkham Asylum game, every other version of Bane I've seen was playing like a dumb muscle. Plus, you can never stay "accurate" when making a comic book movie because comics themselves never stay accurate withing themselves..

  • @starkiller20293

What is your opinon on Scarecrow, Joker and Catwoman in the new movies?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Scarecow. They amde a pathologically evil, twisted and demnted sociopath into a bitch boy in a suit ( seriously Nolan not EVERY villain in the comics wears a suit!). Joker, when did Joker ever have a knife like thata nd was obsessed with it? Also they spent too much time trying to amke him seem shockinga n evil and not as a legitimate crazy dude. They trie dtoo harda nd Catwoman. Anne Hathaway is hot but that suit...yeah...it sucks.

  • @starkiller20293

What do you think of Batman the animated series and the animated movies including Under The Red Hood? Do you think Bane in the new movie will be an improvement over the simpleton from Batman and Robin?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Of course he will be better than that ignorint simpleton

  • SAD

  • I don't get it, why don't batman just rob a weapons store and get the Gotham city cleared from criminals once and for all by shooting the suckers? Well just cause requires a just sacrifice... I have been lately a big fan of Scolar Viari, he knows how to handle things, not like that batman fuck...

  • This character explains atrue story that would happen in real. Painful case of a mankind was given up and being wrong, thrown to the king of birds and animals to be raised among them. He grown up on hate and isolation. Then we come to charge him more on his actions at last. Although his parents were a part of this. that's the way is in life. Who chosed his name or his looks b4 comin to the earth? no body .. then why him? guess he was asking such question every single moment and revenge up to it.

  • Oswald Cobblepot--bullshit. It's Frank Reynolds, motherfucker.

  • @zinrgy lmao,Best show ever.

  • @SteamEqualsFAIL Lol totally, dude.

  • @zinrgy Hahaha! XD

  • @zinrgy look in the comics: oswald chesterfield cobblepot.

  • @TheJamesmario Riddle me this. Who is the person who thought he's comic genious and didn't get the other guy's joke and took it seriousely? Anwser is, YOU are.

  • I feel so sorry for him...

He´s just created different, he´s no monster!

  • No offence but The Penguin is my FAVORITE villian of ALL time! i mean the Joker is good but the Penguin is dark and brutal.

  • @Mittensshnookums Depends on which rendition. In here, he's great. But he's always been near my least fav. Batman villion because he's usually presented quite plain, a quirky genius but that's it.

I *love* the Joker because he tends to be portrayed in the way Nolan portrayed him - absolutely insane with complete wickedness he never truly understands is downright terrible.

Depends on the rendition; I quite like the Penguin here.

  • @SBIMEZM86 I agree, DC comics took alot of stuff from burton's batman movies and made them cannon, i cannot see why they wanted to keep the boring gangster gentleman penguin over this one

  • @Nodrog666 I agree.

  • You gotta to pay the troll toll to get into the boy's hole. You gotta pay the troll toll to ge in!

  • i lov this character

Danny De Vito's version of the penguin was the best.

  • @DEADWIN13 and voice...Nolan North

  • the penguin is scary!

  • his make-up is awesome. howd he become the penguin? didnt his parents try to drown him?

  • @BrOoKiIeBaBeH Depends upon the version of the Penguin.

  • @BrOoKiIeBaBeH in the comics, he was only slightly ugly; while his parents still hated him, he used their money to found an organized criminal empire; "The Penguin" was just a nickname that stuck because of his penchant for always wearing tuxedos

in this movie, his deformities were so hideous that his parents tossed him into a river that emptied in the sewers; he's called "The Penguin" here because of his beak-like nose, and flipper-like hands

  • Because most Batman villains would blush at the amount of blood politicians have on their hands, whether that be in America, Britain, China, Russia or anywhere else.

  • @AziMeX

...and on YOUR hands, considering that YOU elect these politicians, right?

Just more of the usual brain-washed comments; I suggest you start thinking on your own.

  • @Extraneus73 Actually no, the politicians I vote for never get elected. Another brain washed comment. I suggest you start thinking before you type.

  • @AziMeX Right, so the majority of people in the free world elect people that murder left and right? All, except you, of course...

Tell me, do you always have such trouble spotting sarcasm? My point was that you were wrong in your assessment of elected politicians; not that you actually vote for murderers... In other words, you're just another of the multitude of dimwits in this world, whose gut reaction to the word "politics" is 100% negative, despite a total lack of knowledge on the subject.

  • @AziMeX

"the politicians I vote for never get elected"

    LOL! believe you!!! :D

  • 0:14 - 0:18 - Penguin's thinking "damn it... THIS is the best name my parents could give me??..." <:S

    *lol*

  • oh at first i thought the video was going to cut him off

  • Didn't he say: "My name is not Oswald! It's Penguin! I am not a human being! I am an animal. Cold-blooded!" Wierd. Hmm....

  • TRUE

  • WHAAAAT?!

  • Could be worse..my nose could be gushing blood!

  • ;)

lol, cobblepot and the scary factory?

  • Does anyone have the Global Warming comment he made?

  • He said: Stop Global Warming, Start Global Cooling!

Join my campaign for mayor of Gotham!

Check out my channel to see how you, can help me, Oswald Cobblepot (aka The Penguin), become mayor of Gotham!

  • Why do all Gothman's villains run for political power?

  • hehe, why are all politicians villanous?

  • A lot of villains do. Even Lex Luther.

I think it's because it's the "legal way" of gaining power.

  • Comment removed

  • this movie scared me when i was little...... and all because of that penguin man....

  • @Stormfall Then Dick Cheney must have terrified you.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • Gotta love his face before he says his name. All he can think is "crap.... I've been looking for my name my whole life, and THIS is the best my parents could do?? <:S" *lol*

  • hahahah that one was really good :D

  • @Bobzeaux lollllllll

  • @Bobzeaux thats funny but he did not look up his parents in the records he used it as an excuse to look up the first born sons of the city he already knew his parents and their is a subtle hint that he may of killed them

  • Danny DeVito is wonderful as Penguin.

  • What does everything think of Joe Pesci as The Penguin in a mob boss role in the next Batman?

  • I'd look forward to that! :D

  • lol!

  • Imagine when they put the Penguin back in the Batman movies the role is taken on by Jack Black, I'm not just trying to be an idot either. I mean take this into consideration Jack Black=Short Fat Guy, Penguin=Fat Short guy and it would be nice to see Jack Black take on a serious role.

  • dude...just last week i mentioned that...holy crap. it would be awesome. jack black is due for a serious role and what not better than batman.

  • i get what your saying but do you think Jack Black doesnt take every role seriously, hes a master of his craft and thats pretty serious but i would like to see him as the penguin as well.

  • Danny did the penguin the best, but i'd love to see Jack Black as the penguin. it'd be so fun!

  • ok, ur weird.

  • Lol indeed

  • 'jack black is due for a serious role and what not better than batman.'

Please re-read this and think about what you're saying. There are too many things wrong with this sentance.

  • yeah, The Holiday, The Cable Guy, The Jackal...those were serious Roles werent they.

  • WTF How random and spam...

  • No it wouldnt

  • Jack Black ain't short? well, anyway. I don't think teh role would be suitable for him. Like people don't want anymore Jokers because Heath was just brilliant! I'm happy with Danny as the Penguin, and would want him to reprise his role as the man with teh shiny flippers.

  • Well hes like 5'5 and that is short to me so yeah

  • ugh. I hate that.. thats ignorant thinking.. no more Joker? at all? thats extremely hindering on the creative process, not to mention it kills creative thought by not being allowed to fluxuate and allow an actor to change for a role like that.

also; Ledger was good: his role sucked. I did NOT like that Joker.

  • Agreed, although I DID like that Joker.

Joker's almost shakespearian, he's ABOVE any one actors portrayal of him

  • Exactly. I hate that they're not doing another Joker because Ledger died. There's so many possiblities if they got another actor: Harley Quinn!! But I don't think many actors would want to touch that role especially after the huge impact and love for Ledger's Joker now.

  • Give it time, the wounds will heal and a new Joker will be born, hes like Chucky, he never goes away.

  • but death is SUCH a bitch...

    lol

  • Nice

  • now so am i...

  • plus, harley would NEVER work in nolan's dark, gritty, realistic version of batman. harley is there for comic relief. she's the joker's sidekick. harley, with her bubbly, over-the-top, and flat out cartoonish personality would work about as well as a short-shorts wearing robin...

  • Well yeah (I mentioned that in other batman videos). Its a pitfall of Nolan's realism. She would've worked great in Burton's version (which had a slight fantasy touch). I'm just happy their making batman movies again in general!

  • I want more Jokers. Joker is too much of a good character never to be used again.

  • i doubt he'd never be used again... just not in the nolan films.... its just too much of a risk replacing heath.... if they got an actor that was just SLIGHTLY off, the movie would be yet another action sequel that is sub-par to the first (or second in this case). i know that it'd still be good, but you cant settle with just good. the dark knight would have been good without heath, but WITH heath, that good movie becomes AMAZING

  • Yeah but dark knight wasnt written like joker was in the comics he was more of a crazy gangster in the dark night then a funny over the top killer like in BTAS

  • He did a great penguin

  • You're not a Bat, and I'm not a Penguin

    We're men

    With names

  • My name is Oswald Copplepot, what's yours?

    John Doe

    Plain name

  • At first I really didn't like the Penguin, mainly because of the live action Batman show. After watching this movie, many years ago, he had become a favorite.

Also, if any comic book/ Batman fans hasn't read "Joker's Asylum: The Penguin" you should. It's great.

  • really a rather touching line

  • John McCain?

  • idiot.....

  • With Heath Ledger's Joker, who represents pure chaotic evil, this sad and deformed Penguin is by far the best Batman villain ever appeared on the big screen. He has my total comprehension in this moment of revelation of his humanity.

  • Evil is how everyone sees him.

I see the other side of his personality.

as a merry man who knows how to live a happy life and get caught in the moment.

Like when he's driving the cop car, we see a relaxed Joker, letting the wind caress his face, I've never seen a Joker that happy in film, truly happy, not sarcastic-happy.

  • I feel sorry for the Penguin. He's not evil. He's just an outcast.

  • @Nodrog666 An outcast who wanted to kill every first child in gotham city, but other than that tiny detail totally sympathetic. :3

  • @Nodrog666 That's not true... he is indeed an outcast, unlucky and deform and because all of this he became evil... but Quasimodo is the same as him and he did not plan a children massacre.

  • @LordZaamus but quasimodo did have somebody raise him though.claude frollo took him in and raised him like a son.the penquin got none of that.

  • @Nodrog666 I thought the same....Until I saw his plot near the end of the movie...

  • @Nodrog666 He's kind of evil. Thats why he kills children.

  • @ACDC392333 He hates the world, it's a very complicated character motivation,a mix between insane and alone and evil and wanting to be accepted, Nolan can't do that.

  • The Penguin is by far the most evil and dark of batmans villans!

  • It will be The riddler and 2face in the next film

Penguin and catwoman in the 3'rd

Mr freeze and poison ivory in the fourth

  • duh 2face died.

  • I actually forgot what the penguin has done in this movie... kill people? dun remember anything, except for danny devito and catwoman, lol

  • He was a guy who lived in the sewers, teamed up with a crook business guy to try to become mayor, and failed, causing him to take revenge by trying to kill gotham's children and after that failed, use his penguins to try to throw missiles all over the city. All his failures are of course caused by batman ;)

  • yeah, but at least they die quickly. The joker slowly kills people and enjoys it and treats it as a joke. He freaken cut his face up with a knife. That's sick. Hanging a cop from a building after cutting up his face and scaring him to death in front of Gotham, that's sick. The Penguin would stand no chance at all against the joker. He's just too smart.

  • honestly, even tho the penguin is kind of a lame character. danny devito and tim burton portrayed the character fairly accurately

  • there are two versions of this character though. i'd like to see the more human one played considering the mutant version was done pretty successfully. the maker of the dark knight would be interested in this more human version in particular i would bet... that is if penguin gets a spot in the new movie series that is

  • The more human version is the correct version (this Penguin is entirely of Burten's invention and seems to be sorely out of place in a Batman film). He is something like Blofeld from the Bond films, a chique, suave character who knows how to manipulate the criminal elements below him. Pretty interesting character really.

  • Maybe Nolan should take a look at this Penguin and see what he can do with it, and make it inspiring as an outcasted rich guy or something.

  • That's what the Penguin was in the comic anyways.

  • I'd love to see Phillip Seymour Hoffman play this role in the next movie.

  • He didn't want to, because he thought the Penguin was too unrealistic.

  • Well, there's two ways to portray him... one as a deformed monter, like Burton's Penguin, or as a high class aristocrat, much like the 1960's Penguin. Personally I would love it if the Penguin became the new mob kingpin, Since Batman caught the first kingpin in Batman Begins and Two Face and the Joker killed the three mob lords in the Dark Knight.

  • Well most likely Nolan would've gone with a more realistic approach and not added the penguin like deformities. But even still, he said it was just too complicated and unrealistic and wasn't worth bothering for. He was dropped out of TDK, and that's that.

  • The Riddler and the Penguin will be in the next movie.

  • No one knows what will be in the next movie. The plot, stories, characters, et al hasn't been written yet, I don't know where fans are getting all these radical ideas telling people what will be in the next movie, it's like they lose all concept of reality, lol.

  • No, Riddler and Catwoman will be in the next movie.

  • oh,

i saw somewhere that the penguin would probably be in it, and that Johnny depp would maby play the riddler and angelina jolie the catwoman, but im not sure.

  • Mmmm yes, Depp maybe be the riddler and Jolie Catwoman xD, penguin in the 3rd moovie? where did u heard that?

  • i was reading an icelandic paper, it was an article about that johnny depp would maby play the riddler and someone else the penguin, but i may have got it wrong xD

  • Oh, i hope the Pinguin appears in the new movie, did u get noticed that the name of the 3rd Movie of Batman will be ''Batman: Shadow of the Bat''

  • No i didnt know that, thats so cool!

oh i cant wait until it comes out.

  • Yes, I hope that the movie will be best than The Dark Knight, but it will be difficult because TDK is a perfect movie hahaha

  • Yeah! it will be difficult! xD but i know it will be great!

  • They could put all three of 'em in the next movie but that would probably be difficult.

  • yeah prob. xD

  • i hate penguin hes the worst villain ever, joker ftw

  • Correction. Worst villian ever is The Ventrilliquist

  • No, worst villian ever is the Crazy Sobrerero

  • Can someone please post a video of batman fighting penguin in this movie

  • i thought that dude was bird style but never knew it was penguin instead

  • lmfaoooooooooooo

  • this is prob one of the best ones, the one with mr freeze n poisen ivy just ruined the whole series, but batman begins made up for it as will the dark knight .. cant wait !!

  • superman sucks

  • THIS IS SO F-ING FUNNY!!!!

  • This scene is a perfect example of what makes Returns not just the best of the Batman films in my opinion, but quite possibly the finest comic book movie ever. As the Penguin confronts the throng of reporters, you really want his forgiveness to be sincere. But it isn't. He hates his parents, he hates the world, and he won't be satisfied until every human being is as miserable and lonely as he is. He plans to destroy Gotham even as he shamelessly plays on its pity. The Penguin's dark, man.

  • I wouldn't call it the best comic book movie ever, but it is in my opinion the best Batman movie. I am not a Tim Burton fan either, and to be frank the Penguin did not act that way in the comics... yet everything in this movie... it just clicks. Perfectly to me.

At least my nose isn't gushing blood.

  • Part of what makes this the finest comic-based film, in my opinion, is that it functions well on a lot of levels. You can appreciate it as a hero-beats-up-villain flick, or if you so choose you can disssect the motives of a disgruntled secretary-terrorist and a vengeful sewer messiah. And it's immensely quotable, a trait missing from most other superhero films. All this, without the pretentiousness associated with the otherwise superb Sin City or Spider-Man's over-the-top silliness.

  • Best? Explain to me why Bruce Wanye had Bat-signal reflectors installed on Wayne Manor. Wouldn't someone notice those? The obvious flaw in logic and intelligence was just a sign of things to come. This movie was worse than Batman, and no where near "Finest comic book movie ever."

  • A Bat-signal PERIOD is a silly concept. If something like reflectors on Wayne Manor is enough to make you overlook the incredible character depth and rich dialogue in the film, comic book movies might not be the best movies for you. The first Batman was a fantastic movie, but the Joker, while a very entertaining character, was a little one-dimensional (which is suitable for a stirring melodrama, but Batman Returns is arguably a different kind of movie altogether).

  • Explain this. Why is that Batman pleaded with Catwoman to not kill Max Schreck? In Batman, he was the reason why the Joker was killed and 5 minutes before begging Catwoman, he cause the air conditioner to explode. Batman's a smart guy, so he MUST have known that the Penguin would die from that. Not only that, but he ripped off his mask in front of Schreck, a no good, dirty business man, who would ultimately use that against Batman. So Batman's ok with killing, as long as its him doing it.

  • It's true, Batman is directly responsible for the death of the Joker in the first film. Burton's Batman is a lot like Bob Kane's original Batman, where, like a police detective, he'll kill someone if they try to escape or pose a threat. Shreck was a bad guy, but he wasn't exactly a threat (to Batman's knowledge, anyway). Revealing his identity wasn't the best idea, but it was an emotional moment for him; he thought that perhaps unmasking would be a peace-making gesture.

  • @angeltosome batman was bad? if you dont like comic book movies, okay dont watch things associated with them, if you are a comic fan, you are asshole, and a little superman fanboy, dont come ruin our experience

  • Pleased to meet you, Mayor Cobblepot. ;-)

Danny DeVito, who would've thought he made the perfect Penguin? Brilliant acting! Ahh, seeing this rouses nostalgia.

  • This Batman is the best Batman that has ever been made.
