  • What is the story tring to tell?

  • This is freaking awesome!

  • Well done!

  • Nicely done!

  • This is pretty much the coolest thing ever. I am now going to venture to make something like this with my friends.

  • Yeah, loved the choreography. Must have been so much fun to shoot this.

  • Wow! Brilliant video! I loved it! It was put together very well! And I loved all the characters! Good choreography too! :)

  • Pretty Cool vid :)

  • I can't help but love this.

  • i remember when i first heard this song i fell in love, still hasnt gotten old

  • This song always reminds me of the Dresden Files series for some reason...

  • This is probably one of my favorite videos on Youtube, if not my all-around favorite. Not only do I like the song, but the acting and cinematography were great. It tells a nice story, and I really hope you do more.

  • I really like this production. Fantastic job. :)

  • i don't get why it's called steampunk. i get the futuristic steamwork art, but the music is so far from punk and closer to power metal, but it's not power metal at all

  • @mega48man Steampunk isn't really a music genre, more of a style for art, fiction and clothing. Similar to Dieselpunk and Cyberpunk. Abney Park's later stuff (Aether Shanties onwards, possibly earlier) is steampunk in lyrics, but varies so wildly that the only thing linking it all together as a genre is the steampunk lyrics.

I believe this song is from before they made the switch to steampunk, but fits quite well with the video anyway.

  • i got to say this, you fella did a really good job, you should be proud that you made a music video better than some company could muster with all there resources. once again fantastic job.....

  • I like the way this video tells a story almost entirely in images. It's very eye-catching! The chase timing is quite good too.

  • Very well done especially on no budget! I just found out about Abney park and am glad to see the have good fans.

  • Windows Volume control is at max, VIA audio Deck is at max, headset volume is at max, youtube volume is at max. WHY CAN'T IT GET LOUDER!?

  • Anyone else notice this song sounds a lot like The Casualties - Unknown Soldier

    /watch?v=Ur7Z-w_tF5E

  • Can you give some tips to a young steampunker!?

  • this a cool vid and the music is awesome

  • I love the sound, I've been looking for something like this!

  • @3stackymk Then don't listen, turd.

  • where did yall get the coats and top hat i cant find any decent prices on hats or coats

  • @CannonBall01991 you have to find them at junk shops, usually, and then upcycle them into something awesome.

  • @mj81000 ok thanks now when u say junk shops u mean like thrift shops and places like that

  • bet you got a lot of strange looks from people.

  • I'm not usually a fan of fan-made videos, but this came out REALLY well! Good work, man!

  • i love the setting, they outfits and how it was like the old timy theme

  • @earieknight

It is a culture known as Steampunk, and it's amazing.

  • Robin steam

  • this sounds a lot like enjoy the silence by depeche mode. both really awesome songs though

  • What kinda coat is the main character wearing, and where did he get it?

  • party people at 2:27 :D

  • @Paganiac I thought that was a cheap version of the time walk myself

  • I actually like the video. But that's in toronto, really??? I didn't recognize any of them places except old city hall, where is the fountain at 2.53 for example? or the park at 1:22?

  • @Charmalite The park at 1:22 is Trinity Square, behind the Eaton Center [where the tiny church is]. The waterfall at 2:53 is a small park... MMMmm forget what it's called... Cloud something, located south of the Bay, across the street. Cloud Gardens, that's it... south side of Richmond, between Bay and Yonge.

  • @MrBluewatson what the fuck are you talkin about?

  • Too bad you guys didn't have access to steam-powered velocipedes and airships for the production. This video's got everything else going for it! The music is great.

  • Excellent video!

  • Great!!!!

  • what's the place with the waterfalls at 2:20-2:30?

  • Thats a shitload of Balljointed dolls... who borrowed them to you

  • Working on my steampunk stuff, have a few fedoras. Just need to get my hands on the coat and other pieces, RenFest is going to be seeing my crew soon.

  • lol Randon BJDs

  • The chorus is similar to The Casualties - Unknown Soldier which is a very good song as well

  • @6lenWasHere

I just looked that song up and it's awesome, thanks! :D

  • The video is great!

  • Sepia: OK. Clothing: OK. Music: RLY OK! Building: FAIL! But good at all!

  • I wonder what people thought of a random man in a long coat and rather tight looking pants running around chasing nothing. xD Awesome video though~

  • .......wow. not only do i love your video, it's completely awesome in so many ways. it makes me want to run around town in a long coat and have people chase me with a video camera. now i have the long coat and the camera, i just need people in costume to chase me.........hmmmmm

  • @firebaby86 I would do it. I would chase you, probably in vest and longcoat.

  • SO cute :D

  • The world needs more brass and more pairs of welding goggles... Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong reality because watching this video makes me kinda sad. :/

  • The world needs more brass and goggles. I think I was born in the wrong reality, because watching this video just makes me kinda sad. :/

  • The world needs more brass and goggles. I think I was born in the wrong reality, because watching this video just makes me kinda sad. :/

  • oh? this in toronto i thought it was in new york city my bad but still is awsome

  • Sherlock and Watson chasing Robin Hood?

  • Yes Toronto is always in sepia

  • where the fuck are you guys? this is SUPER epic!!! :D

  • I get it! The guy's like robin hood. he stole a lot of money and starts giving in away! thats the bag in the beginning and the thing he gives the children!

  • @magicfirerul1 Those children where dolls

  • @magicfirerul1 I don't want to sound rude, and I hope this isn't, but those "children" are actually dolls. They are called "Ball Jointed Dolls" But they do look like children. They are very realistic. :3

  • sounds a bit like cryptonite at the beginning

  • idk why hes running but i like it xD lmao

  • imagine if when oil runs out we reverted to steam...

  • The best song of Abney Park. A masterpiece!

  • Reminds me of Sherlock holmes and Watson

    Very well put

  • @EcksBawks I agree in every way.

  • I have a feeling of holmes and watson o.o

    <3

  • @EcksBawks Thanks!!!

  • Such a shame that history didn't take a more neo-victorian route.. =(

  • @knockadingdong Blame the discovery of oil :P

  • great video. can't say it's a creative story, but it just got the right feeling with the music.

  • Excellent stuff sir!

  • I'd love to shorten my date's waiting time with 'sports' like these. :D

Absolutely amazing video! Made me laughing tears. And the yellow 'tune' of it all fits perfect to the music!

    Excellent work!

  • I'm eyemazed ;)

  • Amazing! You guys did an amazing job with a zero budget!

  • I wish it was less expensive to be steampunk... otherwise, i'd tooootally be one. :D

  • @Vampgurl184 You don't have to be expensive to be a steampunk. I'm making a steampunk robot suit with a budget of five bucks and it's working out too! :D

  • @SystematicCollapse How? How are you getting all the materials and peices? The corsets, shoes, pants/skirts, goggles, etc all cost a ton of money every place i look!

  • @Vampgurl184

One of the blessings of being a Steampunk kid is that we tend to be very resourceful.

In fact, a lot of members on Brass Goggles got their goggles from their grandparents and people who lived in that era.

And thrift stores, garage sales, etc.

Learning to sew might be a good idea, too.

  • wish u could ´ve cut out the scenes you see modern stuff...since it takes us out of the dream steampunk is...but in general is a good vid, congrats!

  • Love it!

  • its great. I liked it:)

  • Only problem I have with the video is that there were too many scenes of just running, you should have added some parkour in there to live nthose scenes up :)

Otherwise, I really like this video ^_^

  • that was freaking awesome! you should do one for Sleep Isabella.

  • Kinda cheesey and wooden. :/

  • good job guys. :)

  • Now why can't the world be steampunk.....

  • I love how this video's made! Running around in a city is always fun! Especially when wearing a costume. And the masks are awesome!

  • i bet random people that saw them were like wtf O.o lol the song rock

  • This was amazing! Great song, perfectly in sync with the video. The two went really well together. Whomever made this is a sheer genius!

  • great song and you made a brilliant music video for it too

  • Have you shown this to Abney Park yet? They would LOVE to see it I'm sure. :D

  • Brilliant!

  • this song is just awsome!

  • Heh, the priest was my French teacher in middle school.

  • that, son, is how to properly perform badassery.

  • Where did you get the brown coat?

I'm looking for one like that!

  • I love this song

  • This is so cool! So good for no budget. ^^ Did people give you funny looks for lots of people dressed in Steampunk gear? How did you find so many people to participate?

  • Are glasses AND goggles necissary?

  • @whowantsabighug What a silly question. Of course they are. One keeps grit out of your eyes. The other keeps you from running into things.

  • Love this video. It would be really cool if you guys could make one for "Root of All Evil".

  • best no-budget vid on youtube! nice job, I liked the editing and the story

  • @EcksBawks might worth the invention of special glasses.... :D

  • FUCK YEAH!

  • Fantastic video. (:

  • great job guys!

  • Just heard this live tonight !

    It was super amazing.

Also met more cool Canadian fans ( who traveled 23 hours by car?! )

just to come see the band...

  • I need some steampunk friends.....

  • @ThePivotPivot i'll be your friend.

although, i'm sort of steammod. i made it up. i think. ._.

  • @TheHunty2010 yay, be my friend too!!! XD

  • This was a blast to shoot. Did we ever end up with a blooper reel? ;P

  • It looked like the prist as sying "that's how you do it" after he pointed them in the right way.

  • I absolutely love the steampunk look, but there's no way I could have the ability or time to pull it off.

  • @EcksBawks wtf??

  • This is a really good video. The lighting really adds to the whole steampunk thing. Really nice.

  • I missed their last show in Seattle, but oh well I'm going to see them during the steam punk con.

  • are those guys at the starting doing a drug deal or what

but i love song not vid

  • @monkeykid008 Actually, I believe it was some sort of information swap. Or just a random excuse for the guy to start running....

  • a little parkour could have been nice

  • @hero3bash A little parkour is always fun, but does it fit? I think I want to see a mix of steampunk and parkour now.

  • @EcksBawks I agree =) xxx

  • I don't know about everyone else, but most of the time I can't understand what they are saying. At least the voice goes well with this awesome song!

  • wow, great job guys. Love Abney Park.

  • I Love this video, not only does it do the band credit but it also does a lot to show people just how cool Steam Punk can be. I'd love to make something similar.

  • Lovely video. Great stuff.

  • What event was it for? Also, what is the location! amazing place to film! Amazing film, period!

  • Wonderful!!! Bravo!! *applauds*

  • 2:05 BJDs! :D Awesome, awesome video!! 20 stars! <3

  • Bravo. Great piece. Really well done.

  • the row of random people with masks on were awesome.

  • everyone in this video looks absolutely FABULOUS!

  • This seriously seems like a professional grade vid. It's exceptionally well done. I adore the sepia coloring, definately makes it better. I also love the little group of people randomly place around XD they're so cool. ^^

  • Awesome video. I loved it. This is by far the best fan made video ever!!

  • Oh no! no ! A Gentleman provides a Lady with the right hand ! Not the left one... aww... other than that, it was cool :)

  • @MelvarGerdes depends if you're left handed :P

  • well, it doesn't... but that's a fair excuse! It's an awesome vid anyway, doesn't matter about a small mistake.

  • lol brellant! XD those clothing must be expensiv x-x

  • hahha i love how its silent at the end! and the sepia is very nice too^^ its really not bad for a zero budget! i was watching it with my lights off and all my candles on! made better with the right atmosphere though my eyes are having a field day heheh

  • hahah what college was this shot at?

  • I must say...I loved this video!

  • Yay BJDs! Great song and video.

  • This is very interesting, I love it! The song and video are both great <3

  • I want a date with the long haired guy in 0:35.

  • wow, lots of smack talk here... In any case, very nicely done video, i love this band :)

  • Robin Hood was the worst sort of criminal and has been lionized by those who want wealth redistribution from thosewho work for it to those who believe need provides a right to it.

  • Well said.

  • Thanks, I plagerized it from Ayn Rand.

  • 100% agreed

  • Oh, so when you're in need for serious causes (not just because you don't feel like working, which isn't the case of most people) society insn't supposed to help you?

  • I am not talking about your moral obligation to the old and infirm. It is those who demand that society provide them with what they see as an entitlement. And if as you claim that most on government assistance is truly because they cant work, we as a species are doomed.Darwinisim demands it.

  • where is it taken?

    somewhere in england?

  • It was shot in Toronto. Ontario.

  • @wyldelf I've actually been to this place many times and it was always crowded.. did ya do this in the early morning or something? also, there was a hobo who looked like he'd established himself there.. :P wonder where he's gone

  • @wyldelf Toronto has some gorgeous architecture. I guess you learn something new every day :).

  • @NuclearShadow74 I wish there was a place this nice where I live! (Derbyshire, England).

  • The scene where the people are waltzing in the courtyard is really powerful.

  • While this Video seems to be pretty creative at the start, it lacks of dramatical elements after the Thief gets rid of the 2 hunting guys. I dont know why they don´t meet again. this would be a common dramatical element and would have been usefull in telling something. Besides this direct critique, i really like this video! Greets from Germany

  • not a nice guy if your the rich guy and you worked your ass off your whole life just to have "Robin Hood" take it away for a begger who won't get a job

  • @Fiendwald there is a difference between REFUSING to get a job and not being able to get a job. The rich have this misconception that all poor people refuse to work, when in most cases they work HARDER than most rich people.

  • name calling, really mature. You obviously have no idea how the real world works, I'm not going to argue with a child.

  • Real world? I thought you two were arguing about Robin Hood. You know, a fictional character. Nevermind that Fiendwald is, as are so many folks, essentially wrong about the "Robin Hood" character. He didn't "rob from the rich to give to the poor". He robbed from the tax collector, the embodiment of an overreaching government, to give back to the tax payer. Me, I'm all for it. Too bad that's been so utterly twisted by the socialists among us.

  • HE was dissing Robin Hood and the poor. I was simply stating that not all poor people refuse to work, many work and they work hard to make a living, instead of living off Daddy's or Granddaddy's inheritance. How is he able to reply to that comment? I thought I had him blocked. I'm not going to bother reading his insults. People on this site really are pathetic, instead of enjoying a good video or good music, they use this to bash people.

  • @Anakha13 what's wrong with socialism now?... hey, I'm responding to a 2 month old piece of spam... darn it, I'm lazy... I don't even know what this argument is all about, I'm late to the party... work totally sucks, I'm pretty good at it, but the working world is full of fairly bovine, sadistic morons... the only way to be successful is to become a fairly bovine sadistic moron, what a drag... anyways, I love this vid, rock on !!!

  • @benspruce The problem with socialism is that sooner or later, you run out of other people's money.
