just now found that WGTB is back - I moved in 1976 - I have many hours of cassette recordings from 90.1 that I made between 1971 & 1976. ...many different folks doing the call letters - like Prof Mota, and the farewell speech from the "rotella alley" DJ...I have also a brief 8mm film segment from an outdoor music fest they put on in 1974, one of many - I forget what they called those events...also got when they played some early demo tapes by "HTM" and one by "Face Dancer" - the whaler-.
Yup, WGTB was indeed at Georgetown Univ - not George Washington Univ - too many George's in this town - lol..... It was the most amazing station I've ever heard. We ran a huge petition drive to keep the format when the Univ admins decided to change it. We obviously were not successful and DC lost something very special.
objimmy was really on target. Thanks!! A member of a Yahoo group I'm in passed it around to his friends and found out it is indeed Michael Quatro's "In Collaboration With The Gods"!!
Well, it's definitely an adaptation of a piece of classical music. Ask someone well versed in classical music to identify it, and you'll be on your way to figuring out who it is.
good luck man prog rock isn't my thing but I checked to see if I could help you out. I had a song that I looked for, for 25 years. Just this year I found it was Bill Nelson's Tender is the Night. anyway I put a shout out to some internet friends hopefully they will be along to help.. its probably someone obvious.
They used a mellotron extensively here. So look in Wikipedia under Mellotron, there is a part '1970s and progressive rock' which names quite a few songs which has a mellotron in it. See if its named there.

I am over-awed by the response to this posting. Amazingly, this has been
remastered to CD and can be purchased at
cafepress along with what appears to be all his albums.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped.
Merry Christmas and peace to all...
