"The lies rely on brown bodies to fight for white puppet masters."
I'm sorry I like Blue Scholars, but I just cannot agree with that any less, idk where he got his facts but that's a lie. Every single person including me on the future soldier program where my recruiting station is, are all white. Now, I'm not trying to discredit anyone or any group but the majority of people in the military (in all branches) are white and by a far majority.
@Westphal93 You realize you just disputed a creative metaphor with an anecdotal tale of confirmation bias, right? After some critical thinking and taking in account a lot of the context of their other works, I believe this passage is conveying the contempt for the political ruling class enacting false flag operations and blatant falsehoods to encourage those under them to commit to their bidding; the poor, in particular, minorities are often the victims of such.
@Westphal93 The author is black so obviously he will be relating more to non-white races and ethnicities and although the line may be hyperbolic (derp, it's art; art should, by definition, maintain an exterior of hyperbole in order to effective communicate a message), there really isn't enough factual evidence to stand up and say, "That's wrong!" The DoD stopped releasing real demographic information a long time ago and fact or truth doesn't mean you saying, "But I only saw white people!".
@defluxatory The author is Filipino, not black. And according to the DoD in 2008 70% or more of all recruits (across the board, Army, Air Force, etc.) were white. I'm not trying to get into an argument about it but get what I'm trying to say correct. Saying the Brown bodies fight for their white puppet masters would be racist, I don't know how else you could put it, my family has done nothing wrong towards anybody based on their race, so how am I "White Master." We have a all-volunteer military
@Westphal93 By that same token, I can hand you anecdotal evidence that while I was in basic training, there were only three or four white people including myself in a platoon of over ninety. If you analyze this song correctly and look at the overall feeling of the political atmosphere, you will find that this song is 100% spot on; it was relevant in 2004 and it is still relevant today. One would have to be pretty blind to deny that the poor and minorities are still victimized today.
@defluxatory I'm not denying that minorities are victimized, nothing I have said indicates that I believe that they aren't victimized, there is political tension there, much of which I agree with. But minorities are not the majority in the armed forces and if they are there, they chose to be there and that is all fact. Saying 'white masters' is racist as well, much of people in power are white, true. But there are many poor people that are white as well, it's not fair to put us all in one group.
I love how everyone is, when I was in high school everyone thought lil wayne was the shit. Now everyone says he sucks. Dam think for yourself man ppl just hop on the wagon, yeah he has faggity songs like loli pop, he sold out so what. He still has bomb albums n mix tapes he used to be underground stop hating on weezy carter 2 bitches
I love the blue scholars. Geo's lyrics and Sabzi's production alone make them one of the best duos out there, but the fact that they use their music for a positive purpose makes them the best. I actually just started rapping. Hopefully I can try and do the same. I'd love it if you guys took time to check out my page, and tell me what you think! thanks guys. Take care!
This song is ridiculous. This is real hip hop and i completely agree with everyone saying that this is better then the shit on the radio. But i have to agree with Kicker because Lil Wayne is a great artist despite being purely mainstream
I wish I could give this multiple thumbs UP.. if only to compensate for the (evidently deaf) people who voted the video down.
The Blue Scholars have such a relaxed, chill demeanor, which is so celebrated in the Pacific Northwest. Their lyrics are haunting and intelligent, and their flow is so addictive you find yourself involuntarily nodding to their crazy beats. Gotta love Seattle and the Blue Scholars!
Wow, i see that there is mainly two groups of people there, the ones who like "fake hip-hop" and then the ones that bitch about it on "Real Hip-Hop" videos, I personally like this kind of music 100% better, but its getting old, everytime I go to a new song that I find, alls I see is "Thank God for this kind of music, no bullshit Lil' Wayne!" Like We ALL GET IT, you dont like lil wayne, but if you did your research you would find that Lil' Wayne's old stuff is actually pretty good, Just Saying
@KickerSwiss lol maybe they just found out about these people (like me) but i've been a fan of this type of music for a while but when i first even listened to any thing like this i was like that to .. weren't we all? but yeah some people need to just enjoy music
This kind of music isnt for everybody cause all the fake gangbangin wannabes would rather hear about comin from the gutta and how they shot that slob or crab shit gets old after awhile. I like this music cause its relaxing and its coming from tha town...Town bidness Wat Up!
This this this this is FUCKIN!"#!"#"#% AWESOME: MOTHER FUCKER, I DON*T FUCKIN CARE WHAT THE FUCK YOU SAY: FUCK YOU AND YOUR FAGGOT LADY GAGA LIL WAYNE
Honestly who cares about lil wayne and all the other nerds? They arent getting my money, thats reserved for artists with talent like Blue Scholars, Common Market etc.
People Good music doesn't belong in the mainstream haha well let me correct myself nothing good belongs in mainstream music I'm perfectly happy with these artist making great music for people like us because the second this shit goes mainstream these industries try to change every single fucking thing about these people and if you really love these guys like i do then you don't want them to change at all.
Wow, this is disgraceful! not the song, the song is great.
But what i'm trying to say, is this is REAL hip-hop you know, and this video is getting what, 3 thousand and something hits, while Lil Wayne, and Gucci Maine and all those other mainstream people are getting millions of views.
@alphasold13r I agree, its nice to hear this instead of hearing songs about how hard they is and how hard they hood is and their sad stories.. gets annoying after awhile..
@alphasold13r Yes.... what you described is what's wrong with the "youth" of America these days... They don't get that hip-hop (and music in general) isn't about bitches and getting money. It's about real life and empowering one another to be as great as you can. I'm glad no B.S. like lil wayne came out of Seattle. A lot of people today don't understand these kind of things...
@alphasold13r I Feel it man, but dont trip on it. just know that we are keeping this amazing music underground and unabused my damn kube 93.3 playing that same lil wayne and tpain SONG EVERY DAY!!!
@Zamazingbrancrunch51 My English And History Teacher played this also in class, which got me hooked to this song. but, it was just a form of entertainment - either way, he's got a good taste in music, and he's a Rock climber too.
@SmexxiWaffles your teahcer should of player loved life by slug but i can see how a history teacher would play this song to show imperialism and history for poetry
Don't get me wrong I still liked the song, I just don't agree with some of it though.
