  • Wow! I have not played this game but the music represented here makes me want to give it a try. Nice upload garudoh. (I am slowly working my way through all of your videos.)

  • i love grandmas house. hi grandma

  • chilling

  • 3:18 , the voodoo shop reminds me of the Isle of Dr. Brain. The same composer must've done both of them.

  • You should do a video for Police Quest 3 since we're on the topic of Sierra Quest games - it was composed by Jan Hammer!

  • You've forgotten the best one.

The song from Mr. John's Shop

  • @Luke13verse5Repent Why would you comment that on this video? Makes no sense. Also, you should work on your people skills, telling people "Hey, your gonna burn in hell unless you do what this book says" Is not a good way to introduce people to Christianity.

  • The Bayou St. John is my favorite of the ones you put here. I was hoping you were going to have them all here. I especially miss the Madame Cazaunoux and Napoleon House tracks.

  • I just got the non-CD-ROM version of Gabriel Knight 1 working on DOSBox. It's a really good game and it's kinda fun to actually play considering these were games that I missed out on.

When GK1 first came out, I was only 5 years old and the only computer we had was meant for my mom's work. I wouldn't have understood it anyway since it was all DOS and there was nothing fun for me to run.

  • I don't know which is the best, but certainly my favorite songs from this game are:

    GK1 Theme

    Wolgang Ritter

    Magentia Moonbeam

    Lake Pontchartain

    Dixieland Drugstore

    The Gedde Estate

I guess that Robert Holmes might have done a great research on african-american motives as much as on acadian and cajun music to compose this soundtrack, since it INCREDIBLY captures the game atmosphere. Just pay attention to the jazzy feel and the drumming over those sad harmonies and you'll get it all figured out

  • my FAVORITE game EVER! great "vid" m8 ;)

  • You´ve forgotten the best.

The Song when Wolfgang meets Gabriel in Africa;)

  • Thank you for this post of music. What a wonderful memory in music.

  • can´t believe this teacks have so much quality... i remember playing the game when i was a kid but the soundcard wasn´t so good, where do you get this tracks???

  • @rodrigomartincampo It can be played through DOSBox via you great soundcard, SB16 is the best, and you can try Midi and MT-32 and see what you like - to have had all those in your PC in 1992 would have cost $1,000!!!

  • I love this game..I love this music!

  • "Hi!" "Uhh huh."

    "Whatever man."

"What did you mean when you said...cabrit sans cor?" "I didn't say that!" "Ya did!"

  • Only the best music composed for a video game *ever*.

Shame that Wolfgang's theme isn't there (or then I have very selective hearing/short term memory), the one that plays in Africa during the mummy-mauling scene. In my opinion, after the theme, that's the best track on the soundtrack.

  • Tim Curry woohoo! Sexy =]

  • My favorite game <33

  • The MT-32 version of this soundtrack is so incredibly rad.

  • Whoa... Check out 2:11 Are those credits for real? Dang...

  • yes :)

  • I love when composers use interesting time signatures (like the 7/8 at 0:55) and make them sound awesome. So cool.

  • great game. but goddamn are those puzzles tough. i would've pulled all my hair out by now if i didn't have hints

  • yeah.. the game is very difficult!! damn.. hehe... i wana play it agen bt i already know wat to do.. haha...

  • Probably the best voice acting I've ever heard in a video game, making it so easy to care about these characters. This game is a work of art.

  • I'd have to go with the original MGS, with this being second. "What can you tell me about... voodoo?", lol gotta love it.

  • This is one of my favorite games ever, and one of my favorite musical scores to a game. I actually have the entire midi soundtrack converted to an mp3 file so I can listen to it on my Zen. IMHO, the music to Gabriel Knight 3 was even better, and would be a great addition to your series.

  • It'll get featured one day for sure.

  • One of the best games of all time.

  • All three games have great music and storytelling. I would have loved to see a Gabriel Knight movie starring Heath Ledger as Gabriel but that ain't happening :(

  • Some of the best music in a video game ever.

It just adds to much to the game!

    This game is amazing.

  • Video Games Live needs to add this this their setlist. Modern audiences need to discover the greatness of these tracks.

  • fyi, the music from Gabriel Kniht was composed primarily by Robert Holmes, not the artists listed on the side above. most of those people listed were involved in producing the game's sound effects, not its music. stuart rosen directed the voice acting and made no contribution to either the game's score or sound effects.

  • Gabriel *Knight*

    sorry for the typo

  • Yep, you are correct. Guess I made a bad copy/paste job when I first upped this one. Fixed the description, thanks for the info.

  • Yep, Robert Holmes composed the music to all three Gabriel Knight games, including the opera in The Beast Within. He's also the husband of Jane Jensen, the designer and writer of the GK games.

  • EXCELENT video, thanks for posting it!

  • yes it was, then something happened, cause all the other ones after this from sierra started to suck

  • This game was awesome

  • Classic video game music which stands the test of time.

  • itook jazz guitar lessons from neil Grandstaff

  • Was the music from this game all midi or red book audio? If its midi then its pretty damn good wavetable.

  • Its midi.

  • Awesome. Pure Awesome. The music in this game to me is on par with the Quest for Glory series, which is excellent in its own right. And Tim Curry as Gabriel is strange to hear at first.

  • Yeah, I have QFG on my list, but I'm not sure which one I should feature. I was thinking QFG4 because it's my personal favorite, but I can't remember if one particularly outshines the others. Any recommendations man?

  • QFG4, IMO, had the most memorable music. It tended to be a little bit more on the darker side, given the games slavic/vampire theme, but was very atmospheric. Every areas music converyed the perfect tone of what you would expect from it, be it the creepy ambiance of Erana's Peace, to the folksy Mordavian Inn. So QFG4 all the way in my book.

  • Sweet, thanks for the info dude.

  • god, tim as gabriel makes me ho*ny.

    lol tmi.... i guess :B
