  • I mean just the supercharger on my Jag is the same as my thunderbird. Not the engine. Ha ha

  • Wasn't it built by Ford though? I'm assuming that because my Lincoln LS had the same engine (minus the super charger) and my Jag super V8 has the same engine and the supercharger on it as my thunderbird SC???

  • I love mustangs. I own one. But i admit that the Jag was made "universal" and will of course, beat the mustang

  • I have a jag super V8. The extended version of this car. Same powerplant etc. I outrun mustang GTs and Z28's all the time. Gotta love that supercharged Ford V8 they put in these cars!!

  • @jamesmix78 The AJ-V8 engine was designed in the UK by JAGUARS's engineers!

  • Mustang, should have beaten the Jag, because American cars are made to go fast in a straight line, then the driver then shits his pants at the corners. However, the Jag still beat it....WHY?

    Answer:

    Its...a Jaguar.

  • the most enthusiastic commentator in the world

  • Lol I can see that Vand1t22 had a tough start and still beat that Mustang. And the announcer had no idea the Jag could do it, haha.

  • wow that's cool. We can hear at the start the xj-sound!!

  • The Jag won - quite right too

  • and who wins?:D

  • Gentleman the Jaguar car is pronounced: Jag you are.

    Its NOT pronounced: Jag Waar.

    Thank you.

  • @acorntechnique no it isn`t,its Jagwoarrr,as the yanks have it.

  • Love the accent Mus Tang , and Jag War,i think he like saying it that way anyway in the uk its pronounced Jag u ar ,love the american accent

  • I just upgraded my exhaust from a Mina Gallery to a Borla. I'm very impressed with sound and performance of the Borla. I already have the intake and upper supercharger pulley. Next up S porting of the supercharger, Lower supercharger pulley, low temperature thermostat and intercooler radiator with pump. Details coming soon!

  • I just bought 2002 XJR 100 this weekend. There are only 500 XJR 100 in the world and I found it in Virginia.

  • @ninetyseventysixman Really? You got a 100! Nice! I bought My XJR in Virginia too! lol

  • @ninetyseventysixman There is one for sale near where I live for 22 000$. I wish I had that money lol

  • Just got a 2002 XJR this weekend! Already getting the intake and supercharger pulley

  • I'm on my fourth (used) XJ, this time an 'R'. It's like driving in Grand Theft Auto, just press the gas, point it an you're there.

  • This is the video that started my infatuation with this car!!! This car is the best used bang for your buck luxury car out there hands down.

  • I couldn't agree with you more :-).

  • I just bought my 2nd Jaguar XJR in a months time! I loss my 1st XJR on Sep 21 in the Atlanta Floods. I only had the car for 2 weeks ( I bought it in Columbia MO--01 Burgundy Red/Tan leather with 48K) I just purchased my 2nd XJR this past Saturday in Pompano Beach FL. 03 Black with Tan interior (R1 Performance Package--BBS Milan Wheels & Brembo Cross Drilled Rotors/Pads). I plan on doing a Mina Gallery Performance 3 package on it!!! (Direct Air Intake, Supercharger Pulley & Mina Exhaust setup).

  • Very cool. I have a 98 XJR, I've installed upper and lower Super Charger pulleys, intake, larger Intercooler, larger intercooler pump, and lowered be car 1.2 inches. Check out eurotoysltd for all the XJR performance parts. Sorry to hear of your loss.

  • I plan on buying the Mina package on 2NOV. Have you had any problems with the engine modifications?

  • @Chicago1796 How does your car perform with all your upgrades? I am doing the same thing except for the suspension upgrade. I just had a Borla Full Cat Back System installed last month. It definitely makes a difference. I just purchased a supercharger on EBAY which I'm going to send to Eurotoys LTD for porting and pulley upgrade 2.5 . I also purchased my lower superchager pulley from a company in the UK last week. Did you have your ECU tuned? If so, how much? Have you had any engine problems?

  • omg is that sunshine speedway

  • Mustang dosent have anything that can run with the R jags, hell Ford dosent have anything that can out run the XJ220,not even the GT

  • makes me want to get a 2008 xjr. I don't need another fast car but if you can have luxury and power why the heck not.

  • I love both cars!

  • JAGUAR WINS!

  • "Its a fasst JaagWar too"

    Cut his tongue out!

  • JAG WAAAAAAAR

Fuck off. If you're going to say the name of one of the best british car brands ever, say it like a british person

  • ...musteng...

  • jagwaaaaaa? It is JAG-U-AR or for stupid people JAG-YOU-ARE looooooooooool. Good video though

  • ITS A JUGUAR NOT A JAGWAA!

  • this isnt even a race..

  • I hurt me every time he said "Jaguar" the way he did

  • @S70T5 Could be worse. Many say "Jag Wire"

  • I've owned two Mustang GTs, a Cougar, a Thunderbird SC (still own)...and three Jags, including my present XJR. I've enjoyed ALL of them but you can't really compare them. Hugely different cars, different designs..its apples an oranges. The XJR is the best car I have ever owned. It does everything well and is dead reliable...contrary to urban legend. Seems like all I ever do is drive it and wash it. I can't remember the last time I even had to change a light bulb !

  • I am looking for a late model XJR right now. The period I am looking at is 2000 thru 2002. I compared the XJR to the late model M5's and E55's and the XJR won hands down. I like the fact you can find them for less than $10,000 with around 75,000 to 80,000 miles on them. As compared to the M5's and E55's they want around $14,000 with no less than 100,000 miles on them. Another thing Jaguars primarily owned by people in there 50's on can afford them and keep up the maintenance.

  • stay away from the 1999-2002 jags they have a nikasil isue which will destroy the engine walls resulting in engine replacement get a 2003+

  • I personally like the 2003+ better. I agree with you. My dad used to have a 2000 and that happened. he has since traded down to an x-type because we moved to New England and he wanted the AWD. The x-type has ridiculous handling btw.

  • yeah i almost settled for the x type then i found my current XJ8 super V8 supercharged got it for 21k with 64 thousand miles this things eats stangs soecialy on highway runs

  • Nice. I bet. Is that the model with the tray tables? or is that only the later models with the lcd screens in the back

  • no it doesnt have them only the van dan plas has always had them

  • Hows the 1997 XJR's?

  • What'd the pos run though............

  • WHY THATS ONE QWICK JAGWARR!

Get your Momma's titty out of your mouth and pronounce it properly, like a gentlemen: JAG-YOU-AR. JAGUAR!

  • damn fuckin straight, hear hear

  • i treid buying an xjr last night ....rang the guy up and he had sold it.............gutted. im desperatley looking for another though

  • i have 99 xjr with 50000 mile like to sell it

black on black new tired 18 rim.

  • ah we are in different countrys buddy...thanks though. I have decided to go for a 3.2 XJ6 instead though now...cheaper on the insurane yknow ? coz im just 25

  • no problem, i enjoy it though, very fast car. Just like in Mad Jaguar../thanks..

  • they are nice cars

  • does anybody here know if the xkr and the xjr use the exact same engine? also, how much heavier would an xjr be compared to an xkr convertible?

  • Yes it is the same engine, its also used in the S-Type R as well as the Range Rover sport, the Land Rover Discovery & the Aston Martin V8 Vantage between 4.0 & 4.4 litres.

The current X150 convertible is 1635kg the hard top is 1595kg(only 35kg more than the Audi R8 despite being a much larger car), however, with this amount of power, weight isnt a big factor. 0-60 of ALL the supercharged Jaguars of the last 10 years have all been around the 5.0 - 5.3 second mark.

  • 1595kg for the Jaguar XKR

    1660kg for the Jaguar XJR

    1830kg for the BMW M5

2070kg for the Mercedes S Class AMG

To put that into perspective, the current Ford Mondeo is 1550kg, the VW Golf R32 is also 1550kg & the Passat 1.9TD is 1660kg.

  • thanks, i appreciate it.

  • Thats nice to see, even if Americans cant say"Jaguar"properly.

The XJR is just about the best car in the world. Ever.

I`ve got 3 Jaguars & I`ve owned many Jaguars since I was 23(as well as many other prestige cars) & I can honestly say, there is no better all round car on earth.

Even if petrol costs are slowly killing me!

The Mustangs nice in its own way, I`d be quite happy to have both in my garage, but if it came down to only having the choice of 1, the Jaguar would always come 1st!

  • Yeah, I had my first XJ40 when I was 21 and I can honestly say, I can't drive anything else. Even though the German cars seem so perfect and exciting, they've just got no soul to them. Even he new modern Jags have still got that Jaguarishness about them

  • The worse Jag I had was an XJS - talkabout a wallet bender :( . My x308 XJR suits me fine for now. As for the Mustang - I love it, but I'd seriously have to get the suspension sorted out before laying down all that power though. If Ford had spent about an extra $10000 dollars, they could have had the perfect piece of driving Americana around.

  • Yeah, the XJS was the last of the "old school"Jaguars & came with the usual"old school"problems! Even so, they are wonderful when they are working properly(as are all Jags) & are now full blown classics.

  • The Mustang is also a legend, I`d love a 67 fastback, but what I dont understand is why Ford could put IRS suspension as standard in the Sierra from 82` the Granada from 85` & the Focus in 97`, yet NOT put it in such an important car with sporting overtones in 07`!

Imagine how the Mustang would handle with a Jaguar IRS, it`d be a world beater & a SERIOUS supercar!

  • Yeah, I`ve got an XJ40 fetish too, I currently have 3!

I respect German cars & have owned a few, but as you say, they are souless & clinical & dont inspire the same affection or`feel good factor`.

I`ve owned an S type & driven X types & have been disapointed, but then I cut my teeth on XJ`s! I`m sure Jaguar newbies would be perfectly happy with them.

  • S Type? No way.. That had such a great chassis and the engines were a great match. The only thing that let down the car was the styling. I want to check out the new XF. Same solid chassis but with ally suspension bits. If anything, the ride for these cars should be quite supple, rather than just stiff. Can't wait :)

  • The chassis was good, & it was a manual, so it could really shift, but it was severely lacking in "Jaguar-ness" to quote you. Jaguars have a unique feel to them & have in indefinable`it`factor, to me, The X Type just felt like a slightly posher Ford Granada, the X typea posher Mondeo.

There were also basic design faults & quality is questionable.....

  • ....like the scuttle that lets water drip onto the engine, resulting in missfires every time it rained & coilpacks failing early, like £200 heater valves breaking, like squeeking dashboards(which was Jags ugliest dash ever).

I even had rust appearing at the bottom of the front wings behind the wheels & the rear door 1/4 light posts at 4 years old.

    I was VERY disapointed..

  • Whoa.. that must have been an early one. When I first started working for them, they had already started to release the facelifted version. I remember the early ones though - they had this weird half-moon fascia and this tray-out CD player. The later ones were miles better, drive on of the last S Type R, they were really nice.

  • Hmm, I think we'll ignore the X-type.. that was just really embarrasing :(

  • sorry, the S type felt like a posh Granada, the X type a posh Mondeo. Either one is a backwards step for Jaguar as far as I`m concened, they should stick to sporting executive cars & superb GT`s, not try pandering to the masses with budget versions that ultimately damage the brand.

The XF is a technically brilliant car, but I dont like the styling & especially the hyundai-esque headlights...

  • yeah u guys are right, the jaguar is so much better than the mustang, and its not only faster in a straight line but also in curves and stuff because it has an awesome suspension compared to the middle aged thing in the mustang....

  • lol riley627. your dumb. mustangs are soooo ugly, except for the old school muschle ones. and you have a luxury 4 door 4000 pound car demolishing a perormance car. what does that say about the mustang k thanks.

  • mustangs are the biggest shit car around. and he's right, ford owns jaguar and land rover...okay and? they're made in england...jaguars are built overseas...fuckin idiot

  • Mustangs are way better than the xjr. Not to mention they are american, ford owns jaguar, and mustangs are WAY cheaper. It depends on whos driving the car too.

  • And those are the words of an idiot.

  • XJR= automotive perfection

  • The cat pounces on the pony

  • Mustangs are trash. I think ill buy one just to burn it to the ground...

  • It's awful the way he prononces "Jaguar", it is "Jag-u-ar"! ;op But I love the car! However, I doubt if my XJ diesel (2.7 biturbo) would've been able to beat that Mustang! lol Nice movie, nice Mustang too! ;o)

  • haha....nice to see a 'stang get beat, and by a gentleman's racecar

  • looks like a 2000 xjr sweet

  • Me 2

  • yeah i have a jaguar

  • Then you are a man of taste,a gentleman,a scholar and generally one hell of a guy.

  • Nice vid Gerald your bros Jag ate that stang! GO! lol
