You'll get used to a stick, Alison. All I have ever driven for cars I've owned is a standard. You go from first to second almost immediately. (I love my Hyundai Accent.) Only thing is it's easier to eat and drive at the same time in an automatic. And you will have to get laid in that car, too.

Find a (relatively) empty parking lot, and just practice starting off over and over. You'll get the feel of it. Driving stick is more intuition than anything else.
