@keaper The 501 is great, what do you mean the 701 only works for some shots? I have heard the 717 is comparable to the 501 but I haven't tried it.
I tightened the slider heaps to create more resistance to help smooth out the slides. It does make a slight swishing sound but if I do slow slides it's practically silent.

Using the 501 head....did you over tighten your slider for less wobbles and there is a swoshing sound or is it quite ?

i had a look at the FANCIER 717AH Pro Video Drag Head for Camera Tripod
that could be a option... the 701 is only good for some shots
