  • The fact that Alex was so nervous about meeting Jimmy Page, despite his own immense stature as a guitarist, perfectly epitomises the humility and integrity of this band.

  • Justin bieber disliked this.

  • Hahahah, I love this video, always laugh a lot with Alex and his reaction.

Half Zeppelin and 2/3 of Rush talking to each other? Oh shit, I wanted to be the Molson amphitheater dressing room for a minute

  • I love Rush, and Led Zeppelin. Two rock bands, which play differently and sound differently. I cannot compare them. That's not possible if you love their music.

  • it's very humbling and at the same time beautiful to see the human side of Alex Lifeson when he describes his ecstasy watching Jimmy coming over to chat.

  • -What the hell Hutch this is all Rush. How about a little variety?

    -RUSH IS VARIETY BITCH!

  • rush=better than zeppelin case and point rush never stole anyones tunes and said they were there own

  • @able506

    BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!

    BLASPHEMY I TELLS YOU!!!!!

how dare you say rush is better than Zeppelin

rush fucking rock so hard and is one of the bast bands ever

but never talk down upon the gods of music. A.K.A Led Zeppelin

    how dare you :#

  • @D3sdinova i love zeppelin but you obviously didnt read my comment zeppelin stole several songs from several artist and put there names down as the writers and that my friend is plagiarism

  • Great to see such humility with every member of this awesome band. Legends.

  • The last of the truly great musicians! I seen them once,The best opening act I have ever seen was with Rush. Can you guess who it was?

  • @semiLivedj I don't think Rush had an opening band, so was it them?

  • @Splagl Yup! Rush opens for Rush. Its the coolist thing I have ever seen. They played for like 3 1/2 to 4 hrs. My tickets said,An evening with Rush. It was not lying. They rocked me for days after that!

  • It would be cool to see the 2 bands hook up for a project...Led Rush..imagine the jams with the dual bass and killer guitars..and of course amazing drums..to bad no bonzo but the Bonzo and Peart as a drummer duo would be mind blowing.

  • Why are the ratings disabled? ...not cool man

  • @toniquix Fixed

  • @toniquix because ratings are over-rated. Everyone knows anything to do with Rush is awesome.

  • great story....love the musical brotherhood...the old time english rockers are good guys...so not surprised to hear page and plant treated the rush boys very well...it had to be a thrill meeting your idols who truly inspired you...

  • fake, if rush ever met zeppelin, the world would have imploded from too much awesomeness

  • where is peart and bonham.

  • Yeah Alex i know, id freak too if i saw Jimmy Page

  • And i bet Robert Plant was like, "That guy looks just like Geddy Lee!"

  • This is so great.

  • page is god

  • That's awesome. Jimmy is such a badass that he makes other guitarist blush

  • Alex Lifeson is my second favorite Guitarist, next to Michael Schenker. He speaks of Jimmy Page, he's also one of my favorites. See you guys in Rock and Roll Heaven someday (I hope). Peace

  • All i have to say is at least a good band is mentioned in this and its Zeppelin!

  • After meeting Page, Lifeson now knows what it's like for Rush fans to meet him!

  • i love how alex lifeson was on trailer park boys

  • @lynchinjesus He was? What season did he appear in? I want to check it out.

  • @polarphilately he was in season 3, episode 5, which the episode is delightfully titled "closer to the heart"...check it out, great episode from a great show

  • you never took the lead out?

  • some kind of energy hearse

  • when they were walking them to the stage, i wonder if alex was inwardly hoping jim would invite him to join them on the stage.

  • I love them all.

  • Can't help but appreciate what Alex has to say about Page-sincerely humble and all, but I honestly think Jimmy could say the same about him-both of them are the most creative guitarists of all time

  • The Beatles and Led Zeppelin were both ground breaking and influential bands in their own right. Let it be.

  • @PaulSaysShezam Using a Beatles lyric.....I like what you did there....very clever. lol

  • All original art is inspired and influenced by other art and artists. Period.

  • :22

    Akward...

  • I love me some Rush, been a fan for decades. They have always been an awesome band, and as far as I'm concerned Led Zeppelin are the greatest rock band that ever stepped on a stage. I happen to love them both.

  • whats geddy 's real name again? -Bury Wineskin? i just cant remember anything since ive never quit drinkin' eh?

  • @noodlesmealey Gary Lee something.

  • @noodlesmealey Gary Weinrib

  • I just imagin Robert Plant looking at Getty Lee in the hotel room hallway with this awkward silence and thinking, "wow, that guy really looks like Getty Lee"

  • Hahaha that is so awesome!!! what if you just randomly stayed in a room across the hall from ROBERT PLANT holy shit!

& Geddy and his wife on a biking trip in Morocco! That is so cute it kills me.

  • I love the modesty these guys possess. And watching Alex Lifeson get so giddy made me smile BIG!! :)

  • @siriusisastar Yeah hehe it's great to know our musical 'idols' get just as excited as we do, makes you realize that they're really just regular folk who have been very fortunate, and that with a lot of talent and luck, we could be where they are, some day. Rush has always been a very humble bunch. One of the reasons I still love them so much.

  • 1:55. I would do that if i saw Jimmy Page.

  • @chococabron I'd punch him in the face and say, "That's for Willie Dixon and every other old Black Blues man who you ripped off." Then I'd tell him, when you see Clapton, tell him he's next.

  • @Maafa1619 lol you are a tard

  • @Maafa1619 well arent you noble . pffft

  • @Maafa1619 he'd kick your ass . His wife would kick your ass

  • @Cincinnatus1869 I can't begin to imagine what a bony, weak and uncoordinated wimp you must be if you think that Jimmy Page could have kicked anyone's ass on the best day of his life.

  • @Maafa1619 his decrepit old Mother could take you down , sally . ur weak

  • The chronological order of music goes Beatles, Led Zeppelin, then Rush. That is all you need to know.

  • @bg12082007 Then Police

  • i think you had bettr lay off the LSD , dizzy . it maka u mind go soft

  • I've never heard A Lifeson speak.

  • no, there's more obviously. Taurus in Stairway To Heaven, You Need Love by Muddy Waters in Whole Lotta Love.... that's why I say. Talentless fucks who weren't able to create something original. That's why they're overrated.

  • @LSDizzys Who gives a flying fuck about originality? I love Led Zeppelin because of their musical abilities, not if their work is original or not. Just shut up and enjoy the music. If you're gonna be so nit picky about something like that I'm glad your not a fan!

  • @WillieWonka928D their musical abilities were poor. Page fucked up his every solo. Even on that level they weren't good.

  • @LSDizzys Where did Kashmir come from?

  • @acr08807 didnt really read in to this convo so if this is rhetorical or whatever sorry but, Kashmir came from Robert Plant's trips to Morocco

  • Comment removed

  • when I was 15 since I heard Rush before I knew of Plant(though I'd heard thier songs didn't know who sung them) I associated that weird screatchy voice with Geddy Lee rather than Robert Plant.

  • /watch?v=2eyVGzIEc0E

  • these guys are so classy. im so glad i got to see them live before all the good bands disappear

  • I love how they label Alex as "Rush's lead guitar", I expect him to be lead guitar if he's the only damn guitar player in the band.

  • I just love these guys. They're so down-to-earth. I wish Peart would join them, eh? I so admire Peart's intelligent lyrics. One of rock's all-time legendary bands.

  • There is no contest. As great as some of their musical moments over the years , "Closer to the Heart" always came off as some garage band trying to write A Zeppelin Tune ..Zeppelin derived from Blues Masters and Rush derived from extract of blues,,further and further from the blues roots that made Zeppelin the class act they were for so long. Apples and Oranges and Orangutans..

  • I like to think Zep passed the torch to Rush, and no ones takin it anytime soon.

  • Rush is the best band in the world. Led Zeppelin sucked.

  • @LSDizzys rush is good ,led zeppelin is god.period

  • @thegodswerethere Led Zeppelin sucked an enormous amount of arse. Period. Gods of plagiarism yes though.

  • @LSDizzys Rush thinks your wrong , apparently . And so do I

  • @Cincinnatus1869 well I'm glad Rush developed their own style and they refused that blues influences cos it was anachronic. They became progressive virtuosos playing very precisely. Nothing sloppy about it. In the other hand Led Zeppelin. Fucked up solos, bad mix of bass and drums and drunk Robert Plant singing lyrics stolen from some old bluesmen. They were pathetic. They would never record something like Hemispheres.

  • @LSDizzys Led Zeppelin is the greatest band that has ever lived... they have influenced rock, influenced many bands, many people, and they wrote music like no other..Rush is up there (they are one of the greatest) but to say that Zeppelin are pathetic and not original, is an awful statement.. when you have a band that can write music, lyrics, and incredible riffs like Zeppelin, then you can say that.

  • @mysteryriderca LZ music is boring. I was in two bands and we were furious at least. Led Zeppelin were overrated and nothing can change that. Listen to Kingdom Come it's much better band they copied LZ at moments.

  • @LSDizzys Your name says all .... Led Zeppelin was overrated? you really have no clue about real good Music , sorry , to compare this to Cingdome Come is absolutly ridicolous! .There is no other Rock Band who was so Important for the progress in Rockmusic . If you critizice then do it right , not like you do it here sorry , your behavior is more then absurd.

  • @MrAlex0262 Led Zeppelin weren't important for the progress of rock music. Deep Purple, Black Sabbath yes. Led Zeppelin NO! And it's Kingdom Come not Cingdom Come you ignorant.

  • @LSDizzys dude, you are telling me that Led Zeppelin wasn't important for the history of music? sry but you don't know shit about music

  • @S0D41 they weren't imporant for the progress.

  • @LSDizzys congratulations ! stupidest comment in the history of youtube ! you must be proud

  • @MrAlex0262 As much as I dig my share of Zep, and I like them loads. I'll add Velvet Underground, their influence is undeniable.

  • @swans1997 Signed :)

  • @LSDizzys Oh man, you think you know what you are talking about.. but maybe later on when you reread your comments you have been making, you will understand how idiotic they sound haha... Led Zeppelin music is not boring... they did everything different from that time.. they created different ways of playing, and they had a complete different sound.. has any other band written a song like the Rain Song (greatest song ever) or Ten Years Gone? They are the greatest band of all time.

  • @mysteryriderca it's boring and was outdated even back then. They didn't create anything new, they souned like shit, Rain Song is boring as hell in the morning and Led Zeppelin is the most overrated band of all time.Period.

  • @LSDizzys Hey bro, can I ask you something. If you hate Led Zeppelin so much, then why are you on a video about Led Zeppelin (or at least somewhat about them) trash talking them? Do you see me going on videos about music that you like that I may not like and talking shit about them? No. I don't mind we people have their own opinions but then you try and shove your opinion down other peoples throats and try to get them to agree, thats what I don't like. And thats what your doing here.

  • @WillieWonka928D if you read the whole discussion you'd know. I'm a Rush fan. To me it's the best band on this planet. And Led Zeppelin sucks.

  • @LSDizzys Led Zeppelin sucks.? man too much bieber ?

  • @janomolnar Bieber? Is that a psychological projection?

  • @LSDizzys No you suck Led Zeppelin rocks and rush also is a great rock band but your an fucking asshole to realize what great music led zeppelin has made you fucking idiotic moron fuck you Led Zeppelin are awesome and your a fucking jackass piece of fucking shit fuckoff and shut the fuck up bitch ass prick hypocrite.

  • @Megadethisawesome1 take a pill you frustrated psycho.

  • @LSDizzys No you shut the fuck up about led zeppelin you fucking jackass you probably are a nickelback fanboy who likes shitty rcck music and that nickelback cannot play for shit your the one who is the psycho that thinks that Led Zeppelin sucks fuck off you fucking troll you take a pill you frustrated piece of fucking shit rotted carcass ass fuck you.

  • @LSDizzys read his screen name ...then read how he talk's....surprised??? I'm not!-I love youtube for the video's but hate it for reading the comments!

  • @LSDizzys You should have a conversation with Alex Lifeson about that. I'm sure he'd enlighten you as to why they don't "suck".

  • @siriusisastar no he wouldn't. I'd take Hemispheres and IV and we'd listen to both albums. After that I'm sure Alex would agree with me haha.

  • @LSDizzys You are an idiot. To say Zeppelin is overrated is one thing. But to take away the musicality and virtuosity of the 4 members in their own right is just ignorant. Page may have messed up his solos live, but he wrote them in the first place, and it shows that he's human. But Bonham is still a powerhouse drummer, JPJ is still an amazing overall musician, and Plant is still one of the best vocalists ever. Rush is an amazing band in their own right as well. But even they are influenced...

  • Comment removed

  • @LSDizzys ...by Zeppelin. Hell, half of the Heavy Metal community trace their roots back to Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. Your other point was plagiarism, which you were shown your hypocrisy when you didn't care for The Beatles use of other songs. Copyright laws were different in the 60's/70's, and it was a simple mistake in not giving credit where it was due. But saying Stairway to Heaven is a rip-off of Taurus is idiotic. Influenced? Possibly, but a blatant rip-off is not likely.

  • @FenixiaDuo Sabbath yes, Zeppelin no. Led Zeppelin didn't influence metal. Maybe hard rock a bit. The Beatles in the second half of the 60's weren't stealing anything. It was 100% original. Even if they were influenced by The Beach Boys they didn't steal a single note of their music and a single fucking title.

  • @LSDizzys zeppelin influenced hard rock more than "a bit"

  • @LSDizzys You still don't take away any credit from the Beatles for taking anything. Which is where your hypocrisy lies. The Beatles still took older songs, and even though I don't agree, they 'stole' the idea of Sgt. Peppers from Pet Sounds.

  • @FenixiaDuo the beatles didn't steal anything from the beach boys. But they were influenced by pet sounds. And that's a fact. Led Zeppelin took whole fucking songs to rearrange them a bit and credit Page. That's pathetic.

  • @LSDizzys But see you are still ignoring the fact that The Beatles have been accused, and found guilty of certain stealings of music.

  • @FenixiaDuo their most important landmark albums are original. The most important LZ albums include songs that were taken from the other artists.

  • @LSDizzys Not really. the only Zeppelin album that really took stuff was Led Zeppelin I. Even if you think Stairway is a rip-off of Taurus, there is no definite plagiarism on II, III, or IV or any other albums past that point.

  • @LSDizzys If you are gonna try and bash on of the most important bands in Rock N Roll history, at least get a better argument than the few that have been used over and over again. The arguments used against them are more overrated than themselves.

  • @FenixiaDuo Led Zeppelin's plagiarism is obvious to anyone who wants to hear it. I don't care what LZ fans say. They aren't objective.

  • @LSDizzys I don't see how plagiarism would be a subjective idea in the first place. You either did it or you don't. They did it, but once again it was different 40 years ago.

  • @LSDizzys What planet are you from? If you are from earth, you must have a terrible genetic deffect.

  • @flupeattack me having terrible genetic deffect versus a bunch of talentless idiots who stole almost all music for their debut album (only two original songs on it). Right.

  • @LSDizzys Talentless idiots? Hahaha I suppose you contributed more to music than LZ, did you? Please, show me how you contributed more to music.

You have a right to bash them if you are a music genius, otherwise, just keep quiet and admit your ignorance.

  • @flupeattack I don't call myself a legend. Led Zeppelin is the most overrated band of all time.

  • @LSDizzys

Come on...do you not have even a thimble full of modesty in you?

I mean...I completely support you thinking that "IN YOUR OPINION" Led Zeppelin was the most overrated..though I completely disagree with you...

But for you to state this so categorically as if the world is standing behind you on this is just plain pretentious and lacks even a feather of weight behind it....with no stated support of any..... that would obviously be in a better position to judge then you...

  • @zeroceiling see 'Led Zeppelin plagiarism'. It's on youtube in three parts. So it says I'm right. Led Zeppelin WAS overrated.

  • @LSDizzys

It is clear that there are genres...art periods..music periods

How many of us can distinguish Monet from Manet..from Matisse?...or Pizzaro from Degas?...how many of us today can distinguish Howlin Wolf from early Muddy Watters?.

..a half speed Joan Baez sounds nothing like Led Zeppelin...but so what..

McCartney admittedly loved taking other peoples work and re-arranging it..and hell..making it a 1000 x better..just like Led

He's so Fine and My Sweet Lord can co-exist!

  • @zeroceiling The Beatles were an original and innovative band. Led Zeppelin in the other hand... anachronic. Besides some credit to the artists they stole the music from should be given.

  • @LSDizzys

Now are we going to use a double standard?....Beatles reworking a piece by another artist is OK but Led Zeppelin..no?..Why?..

Also, do you consider Steve Jobs to be an incredible innovator?..Yes?

    Most do!

Actually..while Steve Jobs is revered today and the products he helped develop and make the darlings of the entire planet...were actually not his ideas.

He and Wozniak were invited to PARC Xerox, where they were shown a complete Windows concept along with the mouse!!

  • @zeroceiling

    Continued..

A concept a fluid, artistic and inspired as the graphic user interface such as Windows is an idea as individualistic as a musical piece..

(Xerox is admittedly the dumbest company in the world to have allowed Jobs to simply take these and he certainly didnt acknowledge Xerox after.)

But..today a windows environment and some form of a pointing device is used by all..but none better then Apple vis a vis Jobs.

Jobs simply made the amazing into "brilliant"

  • @zeroceiling

    Finally,

...arguably the greatest piece of art in the world is one that speaks and evokes emotion from the largest group of individuals.......

This would make Mickey Mouse the most amazing art ever made..

If Led Zeppelin makes millions happy with a sound that no-one else can bring..there is something to that isnt there?

I mean...some of the original pieces that inspired Led Zepplin would certainly not by on my ipod or be favorites at parties or weddings.....

  • @zeroceiling "If Led Zeppelin makes millions happy with a sound that no-one else can bring..there is something to that isnt there?" it just means we live in a world full od idiots lol. Well if Justin Bieber makes millions happy with a sound etc... Just take a look around. Crisis here, crisis there. If most people were smart we'd live in a better world. And it wouldn't be world of Led Zeppelin lol.

  • @zeroceiling Jobs was an idiot. I work for a software company and believe me, most people here tell me he was stealing ideas from others. Yeah just like Led Zeppelin lol.

  • @zeroceiling Beatles were innovative and most of their stuff is completely original. I'm not talking about the early Beatles cos it wasn't something serious. I'm talking about Revolver, Sgt Peppers or Abbey Road. Fantastic albums with original tunes.

yeah I agree about Steve Jobs. Fuck that idiot. He wasn't able to create something innovative cos he was too busy with making deals. And they made him a visionaire. Fuck him.

  • @LSDizzys Oh, so you cite the first LZ album for plagery and excuse the Beatles early stuff. Yet you make no mention of LZ albums like Physical Graffitti and In through the Out Door, which would be comprable to Revolver, Peppers and Abbey Road as far as group evolution. Does this comment echo, because its posted in your hollow argument.

  • @TheStoneformpally

Totally valid point...and so far no rebuttal...

  • @TheStoneformpally well there are stolen songs on Graffiti and Presence too. No comparsion.

  • @LSDizzys Kasmhir? Over the Hills and Far Away? The Song Remains The Same? When the Levee Breaks? It's what? While the first album? It's innovation in sound, composition and structure.

As for plagiarism again, except intros Going to California, Bron y Aur Stomp, Dazed and riff a musical point of view, the texts we do not care, nothing else has been plagiarized, the it is only an influence, like the Beatles or Rush have little in their careers.

    Your argument is pathetic.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM I don't know if you're dumb or just a pretender. Watch 'Led Zeppelin plagiarism'. Dazed And Confused is a rip off! Even the title. Listen to Jake Holmes Dazed And Confused. If this doesn't bring a light to your head I give up.

  • @LSDizzys I've said this retard, you are just pathetic to use this argument, it's not a excuse, but majority of this generation has been inspired or has copied melodies ( Deep Purple more than Zep but anyone crying about that, The Who, Floyd and so many others ), but except Dazed, there is what ? Nothing, just some intros and lyrics, amazing, or not.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM man I'm not going to bring up all the songs they've stolen. Watch Led Zeppelin plagiarism it's on youtube. No, not just some intros. Whole fucking ideas. Robert Johnson lyrics in Lemon Song. There's many more of it.

  • @LSDizzys There is NOTHING except that i said srys... There is a BIG difference beetween inspired and copied, if you contest that, you contest the music's story.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM Anne Brendon took legal action in 1980 on Babe I'm Gonna Leave You and credit reads now Brendon/Plant/Page. Before that it was Page/traditional. Why Plant was credited now? How Many More Years by Howlin Wolf turned into How Many More Times the melody is the same a bit different arrangment. Nervous Breakdown by Eddie Cochran turned into Communication Breakdown. Only 2 original tunes on LZ debut album. What a shame. Pathetic losers.

  • @LSDizzys The story of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You is unclear, it was not known to whom it belonged, she was in the public domain, at least that's what Page believed at the time, again, c 'is the inspiration. The melody of HMMY and HMMT has absolutely nothing to do except some of the text and that of "The Hunter" by Albert King, as most things the first album, it comes from the Yarbids, there are the riffs Smokestack Lightning in which he played the song in concert, but nothing else.

  • @LSDizzys For "Nervous Breakdown" is again the inspiration, there are few similarities between this song and CM. Is what you want me to make a list of all the groups that were inspired by the same way as Led Zeppelin? Given the context in which they recorded the album (Origin musical, musical context), it is normal to have this kind of case, we talk a lot because it is one of the groups best known in the world....

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

The next statement will inevitably be..that there are millions of idiots int he world...who are so foolish as to decide that Led Zeppelin is a definitive musical force..

That..I expect will be the feedback....as only certain people feel they have taste and wisdom when it comes to music..

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM yeah right. They were even too lazy to invent completely different title for the song. Yes name one band who made such thing. I mean not did the cover version of some song but wrote a song with the same or almost the same title that was inspired by another track by another artist.

  • Comment removed

  • @LSDizzys Seriously..what massive difference does that make?

Did you like Amy Winehouse?...did you respect her?....did you respect everything she did?....probably not..was she flawed?..yes..did she leave a great body of work..yes!

You may not like how Led Zeppelin attained success...and some of it has merit...but it is really a wasted effort to convince people NOT to like the music because of the way it was made!!

How..in this case really does not matter....though it pisses you off.

  • @zeroceiling I don't give a flying fuck about Amy Winehouse. And it's not the point if I like Led Zeppelin or not. I'm just trying to say they were overrated.

  • Comment removed

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

    Well put.

I would add that it is not only the story of music..but really the story of art itself.

Today we look at the Renaissance as a high water mark of artistic expression while often ignoring the fact that "renaissance" means "re-birth"

which in this case is the tribute the 14th-15th century artists paid to the ancient Greek art-form, and they actually often directly copied certain works.

..it can also be argued that civilization itself, was built this way.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM

I completely agree with this clear..to the point statement!

Have we not learned that one documentary is not definitive?!

I mentioned that Steven Jobs took many ideas and influences...(primarily from Xerox)..but that does not explain why the products he developed as tributes to his early influences..so outdistance any competition..nothing explains it except that he had the

    breath of genius.

Yes..Led Zeppelin certainly had their formative influences also..so what?

  • @zeroceiling Page and Plant are certainly the most avaricious men and hypocrites in the history of rock, but during their training group "Page and Plant", often enthroned and he thanked the artists that inspired them, through them, I 'I décourvert Spirit, Small Faces (inspiration of refrain of Whole Lotta Love) only through their inspiration, when you copy it completely takes the note played by an instrument and the melody,

  • @LSDizzys I am an ultimate fan of the group, I know absolutely everything, I know perfectly well question everything related to the group, but with as little argument developed ...

As for music reviews, they are only good when they are madeeither by a knowledge of music or a coherent argument, detailing exactly what you do not like.

As for the style of Rush, logical that they are not inspired the Blues, this one it was good.

  • @AZEIDJSKSQMM btw Dazed And Confused wasn't a standard melody. This song was originally released two years prior to Led Zeppelin debut album. They stole quite new song for their album cos they weren't able to compose something on their own. This is really pathetic.

  • @LSDizzys

Anachronic means..."out of chronological order or out of date"...is this exactly what you wanted to state about the band??

    ...seems anachronic!
