First of all, wonderful videos. My dad and I were having a discussion about if is possible to spin the object ball in a way that it would help pocketting mainly when the ball touches a rail. This is more common playing snooker as we do. Is this possible? If so, would you mind to explain how to do it?
im somewhere between beginner an intermediate player,,,,i was told on this shots you try an aim right side of cue ball to hit the contact point on the object thus overcutting the ball thus this hold true...thanks for your video
He brought out the technical aspects in this simple everyday cut shot and explained it including the physics that is involved when such a shot is made. That is such a great piece of info that an expert player will need to keep in mind when making that championship winning shot on a OB situated in a delicate position.
Please dont make such pathetic comments without knowing enough about what you are talking of.
this is a great video. i have struggled with consistantly pocketing cut shots for quite a while. i never thaught about the que ball actualy knocking the object ball off line. that explains to me why when i have a long cut and i hit it hard i miss it 7 times out of ten!!!!! all your videos are great, thanks for the tools you are giving us all to work with. i love playing pool, and would love to get beter, you ARE helping me.
First and foremost, great videos! Thank you :) I am an adequate pool player (Lvl 5 in Apa), I tend to limit my use of english to Rail shots and only when the object ball is in the Jaws of the pocket for better C/B position. I mainly use stun, follow and Draw. Question is, in the above shot, would inside english cause more friction therefore cutting it more to the left if hit on the same aiming point as outside? Thanks in advance and please check out my trick shot video for some laughs! 8-)
Yes, inside english does cause more friction and thus increasing throw. If you use inside English (right) the cue ball will be deflected to the left somewhat somewhat. How much deflection effects the shot depends on the shaft, and the distance between the cue ball and the object ball. Unfortunately there is no air tight system to reliably compensate for all of this. It takes lots of practice to develop a feel for using English especially on longer shots.
If you were to do a right english, because your cue stick will be pointing on the right side of the white ball, wouldn't the aim not be straight to the angle you want to hit on the target ball?
lol he keeps saying that the 13 ball is the 9 ball... you can clearly see that ball is the 13... hes like 3 feet away from it too... whats this kid smokin???

so is it that whenever we're making cut shots we need to apply english?
swlryan 3 years ago
yes... apply english or just simply aim for over-cut... to make it simpler, if you don't want english, just aim for the inner pocket...

hi bro
thanks for all those videos.
i wonder if all your "pool" techniques are working on other kind of billiards ? (snooker etc)
i suppose it's the same techniques on all kind of billiards right ?
is the "draw" technique (the thing with the 3-lines) working on snooker table too ? (i mean, on a much more larger table)
thanks !

The basic techniques are the same. However, the size and weight of the balls require a noticeable adjustment.

I'm not sure the throw effect exists, but I'm a sceptic.

It definitely does.

Does how hard you hit the ball effect cling?
pushingpsi 4 years ago
Slower speeds induce more throw.
