@Playboysmurf1 It's research. It takes years for theoretical research like this to make it to markets, if it ever does. Sometimes while bringing something like this to market it is discovered not to be financially feasible. Remember to be developed into a product, something must first be profitable. An unfortunate byproduct of the capitalist world market we've set up for ourselves.
@HeavyMechanics But It is unlikely to become financially feasible without economies of scale. The oil industry has over 100 years of development behind it and that is why it always appears to be cheaper in initial financial analysis. Someone with money just needs to take a punt.

But really there have been SO MANY innovations in solar nanotech in the last 6 months alone that it's not a question of if anymore, but when.
As of may 2011, GE says that solar nanotech will be cheaper than fossil in 3 to five years. and China is currently quadrupling solar production, same thing in Germany, and the US.
Apart from the fact, that creating cheap solar-cell-foils to just glue to the roof is a lot better aproach, than having to paint your roof, this is pretty cool.
1:00 Tar paper that conducts electricity? Oh I see; it's a roof as a lightning rod!
