@TCharlieA Well, there'd be people blindly worshipping Cheburaska instead of Astroboy and oodles of critical social films to pester people. There'd be an insufferable number of hedgehog and bear films that would bore the life out of most viewers instead of dozens of stupid Kawaii cartoons. It would certainly help the recent industry.
first you get a job because you have to.regardless of risks. then your natural grred takes over rationalising the risks for the reward you get. once you settle into a routine time will fly buy. then you will end up waking up before needed and contemplate WTF you have done with your life. scared of what thet alarm means. goping to work. the place you hate being but have to be there. then you retire old man looking back at your wasted youth exploited by corporate greed.isnt life great in america.
Honestly, this is one of the best propaganda videos I have ever seen. Brilliant animation, amazing symbolism, and a well thought out criticism of the capitalist system.
I believe the idea was the greedy Corporate man, using up the average US citizen until he killed him off for his gain, this would have worked much better then, compared to now. CCCP just off time
given the useage of stereotypical America-golden-age imagery, I'd say the former was more in mind, and someone in animation decided to include the latter
Unfortunately i don't know the titles of the music pieces, but the director Vladimir Tarasov had a very good musical taste. The excellent music in his films was not just background, but an important device plot. For a beautiful example, see his most popular film "Contact" (Контакт in Russian), which you can also find on YouTube - it uses the music of Nino Rota and George Gershwin, and the result is stunning. That film is also much less bleak than this one :)
isn't it about American gun culture ? And maybe something about worker exploitation? (which may not be strictly accurate but it shows how the US was perceived then).
is it just me who finds the score extremly disturbing? the russians back in -79 must have found it EXTREMLY DISTURBING not being used to this cind of music since it would probably have been outlawed.
Who knows? The film feels sort of like it's taking snide jabs at Russian as well as western culture so maybe. There are a lot of Russian 'propaganda' films made with art-school-grants like that where the artists snuck in snide subversion past the censors. One of the better ones is called 'firing range' - an INCREDIBLE rotoscoped animated film about a computerized tank killing off the military personnel who are supposed to approving its use in combat.
Now that the soviet union is dead and buried, we can appreciate this cartoon for the interesting artistic piece that it is without much of any political guilt. Not that that would stop me anyway, but at least now there won't be morons accusing me of being a commie for appreciating it.
That said, if you want to see something that's an ANTI-communist acid trip, watch "the death of stalinism in bohemia" by Jan Svankmajer. I saw that film as a kid just after the Berlin wall fell too.
you say use American music, and mean jazz, that's a shame because Jazz is origined,as I know, from the people from Africa. Then they made the beginning of Jazz. And many many years later there were jazz bands all over the world, not only in USA - remember that, but also in USSR too.
Holy crap TNP the Nutnfancy project!!!!

I like this vid. It's allmost hard to tell it's communist propaganda, and not just some kind of cyberpunk pastiche.

To all talking about jazz: Who gives a flying fuck?
Hayzeuszilla 3 years ago
Soviet propaganda, oh yeah. How about a nice hyperbel on unemployment?
However, i must admit, that jazz music was quite associative to capitalism in soviet Russia.

Captain 546 says "they hate America, and yet they use American music (jazz). cool cartoon thought." - that's his words!
Well, I think you're wrong,
They.....They? how are the "they" ?
hate.....hate? how hates America - you say general things, that's bad for you.
The whole thing is about politics - that's what is mostly "unwanted"
