  • this is such a sexy song............

  • the fucking idiot got his teeth done Hollywood style, I still love him,

  • Nice to see an artist enjoying himself

  • shame mick is in the shadows....

  • This song is so sad. About peoples nostaglia for a time past. Yet this is the time we are now nostalgic for.... so sad and ironic.

  • he looks so other worldly :D

  • long life to king ziggy forever

  • Este es uno de mis videos preferidos de David Bowie...es lo mas

  • That's a dead cat on his head.

  • @milkmanish yes, and he's still relevant, you on the other hand, no matter what lies your momma told you, never will will be....

  • ". . . when Jagger stared in people's eyes and scored. . . " a very interesting re-statement of the original lyric. Does Mr. Jagger know about this? was he consulted? does anyone care? the existential implications of this simple change of phrase could speak volumes, but not from me.

  • 1 dislike?? what's wrong with you? why are you here??

  • @abrookes1985 I don't know if cocaine or exactly what killed the Spiders but it was the worst thing that ever happened. Sad to hear the detail about the buses. I just knew the band had no idea they were being fired at the end of their last show.

  • come on Mick, closeups!!!!

  • He's so freaking beautiful, he looks like an angel.

  • I think it BBC TV (uk) television show "Top Of The Pops" September 1973

  • @scuddster It was the Russell Harty show on LWT in 1973

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • @JKRowling123 me too !!

  • omg this was me at 15 trying to figure my way in the world and there was Bowie my messiah,,you could make a movi efrom the lyrics alone. When we are all dead n gone its Bowie that will be in the history books

  • I love Bowie. LOVE HIM. He's so amazing and sexy.

If there's one thing I'm thankful to Lady Gaga for is bringing attention to how influential his music is. I'm glad she acknowledges her idols.

  • He is just so beautiful. So stunningly beautiful. I have trouble breathing when I see this.

  • He is such an individual, and GORGEOUS.

  • So many great songs, but lyrically I keep getting drawn back to this one. Loving it

  • @abrookes1985 Believe or not i have just read your comment. Agree that Mick Ronson was a great guitar player and Bowie relied on him a lot.

  • I had to click "Like" but I "Love" this.

  • I just love him

  • Gawd he is so beautiful in this video. The song is so beautiful. It has a very 50's doo wop sound but in the future. There's no one like Bowie. He's just so unique

  • She's uncertain if she likes him, But she knows she really loves him

I love that part. Just so brilliant.

  • David Bowie is the most creative human being alive on this planet.

  • this is the most beautiful thing that can be put on my senses. in every fucking way.

  • does anyone care how good of a song writer this guy is? all comments i see are about his look, it's 2 bad he had 2 dress like a bitch to get attention he's a fucking great songwriter

  • @slimjimm8

I always mention Bowie when someone brings up Dylan as the best lyricist. Bowie is a superior lyricist and mind you we haven't even gotten to the music part.

  • Yes I have never seen this video!

  • trevor bolder is THE man.

  • always the best <3

  • @juliagabriel90 defo :)

  • Yes, the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. At 56 seconds.

  • haha, one person disliked this, thats just a tumbleweed man xx

  • yes the look is great :-)

  • 1 people dislike this??? WTF????

  • is bowies face at 56 seconds not the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?

  • Bowie in his prime. Ronson to bowie was like Richards to Jagger. You have to have em both to make it work. Check out the burns on that bass player. I wish i was that famous so i could do stuff like that. Most jobs wont allow it.

  • @chewychewy1213 It's a shame you'd willfully deny yourself the excellence that is Station To Station, Low, Lodger, Heroes, Scary Monsters, Young Americans and many, many, many other amazing non-Ziggy albums.

  • @abrookes1985 Yeah pretty much.. Ronson was considered a god on stage, bowie was even performing imaginary oral on him ;

  • lol this was on tony orlando (and dawn) show- amerika's benigned down answer to the threatening black/brown inner city "threat"...fags and punksand other rejects must have been laughing their asses off during this prime time out of time surreal cosmic joke life is sooo funny

  • Fantastic song! Nedzorz1is spot on there - perhaps you can explain ''Panic In Detroit'' too? Always ahead of his time during the seventies, Bowie is/was one of music's greatest innovators, and what a sublime look he had. Aladdin Sane was one of the first albums I ever bought, and I still have the original copy.

  • @Humbug1100

Aladdin Sane is sometimes overlooked because it followed Ziggy Stardust. While I love ZS, Aladdin Sane is the better rock ablum for me. Bowie produces one of the best sounding albums he's ever made.

  • i agree with you. mick ronson is a true legend. trully sad he passed away on the 93. he was a totall genious. if anyone hear his solos can get it

  • @kjsh987 Mick Ronson was amazing, according to Bowie: A biography by Marc Spitz, He actually did a lot of the string arrangements on Bowie's songs too. He was a great Talent, and I dont think Bowie would have been able to really launch himself without Ronson.

  • @thebowiesfrommars He has specific arrangement credits for Life on Mars. I guess more too that isn't as iconic as get that specific mention in the record details. Bowie and Ronson took out the best of each other.. some collaborations are magic like that and larger than the sum of the parts.

  • I think so.....

  • He looks like Cilla Black

  • He WAS

  • I dont know if it's ever been acknowledged before, but the theme of this song is quite similar to the plot of the 1981 cult film Cafe Flesh. Ever see that ? It even features characters named Mister and Mrs. Sane,.. as in Aladin Sane ! So I just wonder if the makers of that flick weren't a bit inspired by Bowie ?

  • Oh my, I'm in love =)

  • Isn't this 73

  • i like how he dressed up there....and his earring... xD

  • When Jagger stared in people's eyes - we heard that!

  • one of his best songs

  • If I'm alive when Bowie dies, this is the look and style I'll remember Bowie as.

  • I hope i'm not alive when he dies. I'd be so devastated! =(

But yeah, i'll always remember him as Ziggy. But more so as a person. Not the alter ego. If that makes sense.

  • @BowiesDog Bowie will never die. He's the greatest person alive and will always be.

  • @BowiesDog if he can die..

  • such a beautiful song..

  • beatiful!

  • Its from 1973 not 1974.

  • I love watching his facial expressions as he sings. He's so into it and being all theatrical and it's so funny!

  • " His Name Was Always Buddy " cool line :), i like the end of the video when he points at himself and hes like me ?? yes you David Bowie your awesome :D

  • yeah! his name was always Buddy!!!!!

  • yea I love that line. the way he sings it really makes it what it is though. I love the end too! Ziggy was always so theatrical. And yes he is awesome.

  • My current favorite. Bowie's one of the best.

  • i like how little effort everyone is putting into making it look like they're actually playing those instruments.

  • Thanks for that Dave ..... realy enjoyed it..

  • does any one know for real what this song is about ? I have loved this song for thirty years but i don't even know why it is called 'drive in saturday'

  • It's about a time in the future when people have forgotten how to make love. So they have to watch old movies to see how it was done in the past.

  • bowie was like a crystal ball gazer (even tho i dont believe in that crap). i loved his irony and sense of sarcasm with a humourous edge that was kinda saying "watch out, people are going to get so engrossed in themselves they are even going to forget how to make love" and i think he meant the human passion of it, not the sex bit lol.... aghhh what do i know!!! it sounded good when i typed it.

  • interesting thought, i like that

  • thanks. it might have been my only good thought for 2009. I felt like a dumbass TRYING to comment on bowie, his lyrics, his intent & meaning (especially in 500 characters or less!!!) and realy it wasnt just about this one song.

  • PS I just checked out your channel... u got some nice favorites.. thanks, saves me a lot of searches. lol

  • me? np

  • It's a science-fiction song about people forgetting how to make love and needing to watch movies and read books to figure out what to do. When the song was written, Saturday night at the Drive-in movie theatres was a common place for teenagers to do the nasty.

  • @Nedzorz1 right abandoned drive- in in lower thomaston ,c t.....1969-79....drive- in suck- a - thon

  • i love Bowie and i have alot of friends thatdig his style and music. GOD that man had courage to out on stage looking like that and rock people fukn brains out ...With Glam Rock.

  • Ok. I just noticed that either Def Leppard ot he, himself got the lyrics wrong here. Def Leppard says When people stared in Jaggars eyes and scored. Who has it right?

  • this is one of my favorite songs, lot of great moments in my life listening to this tune.

  • the best! he looks sooo great, for sure my favourite look

  • This Is not my favourite Bowie's songs, but I love his look,

    for me his best...

  • His look is really awesome. That's why I love him.

He's really my favourite singer. Such a damage that the most people in my age (14) find him idiot.

(sorry for my bad english, I'm french)

  • Hey, kid, don't worry, they are the assholes, and it's cool if they don't like him, but they shouldn't call a genious an idiot, I mean, the man contributed so much to music, thanks to him, all the plastic modern pop music you friends listen to, exists.

  • Yeah, I think s, it's okay that they don't like his music, I have also a lot of music I don't like. But most of my friends don't listen to the music and just say "Oh, he looks stupid, so the music must be stupid too !" and I think to think like that is a little bit idiot, you know.

    (I hope you'll understand what I mean^^)

    :D

  • Being a French Bowie fan is cool enough. Your English can be as bad as you want. Good job.

  • actually, im 16 and i have have alot of friends that think he's just amazing. Certainly better than this Boom-Boom-Pow crap thats goin' around with young people these days. (haha, see the irony??)

  • FULL OF LOVE
