  • Wow - I have a 6 month old and 3 month old bassett puppies. Can you give me any tips on how to train them?

  • My heart aches looking at your adorable "Hunter". Many years ago, I adopted the most wonderful Basset Hound, named "Baby", he was the light of my life. I taught him to speak too, (small mistake…he never shut-up!

  • @MarkOFLL Hunter is now 2 years, and has decided that he make me give him food if he "speaks" :)) I can still get him to do it on command, but he has discovered many uses for his trick.

  • too cute <3

  • AMAZING! Bassets are known to be the hardest breed to train!

  • @Deannaandjoshboye actually it's pretty easy if you reward them with attention and food, however if you stop the food coming they lose interest in the trick. they're stubborn and intelligent.

  • @Deannaandjoshboye one of the hardest, try a Shar-Pei those guys are even more stubburn thatn Bassets!

  • Can you send me some advices to teach a dog please! :D

Soon I'll get a basset hound puppy and I want to teach him some tricks :D

    Thanks :P

  • same with mine

  • and some people think you can't train a basset because they're stubborn, wrong!!

Hunter is one smart pup!! and super cute, I love his little hop that he does

  • He is such a beautiful boy: His face all brown...

  • Wow the only thing my one year old howie can do is sit and get up on the sofa lol

  • Speak Speak Speak! lol, excellent job!

  • what a smart cookie! reminds me of my little basset! = )

  • How do u train them like that?

    and so young! :()

  • She is training him with food. Every time he does something right he gets a treat:)

But it's better to train you dog without food.

  • Actually, with a puppy, it is usually necessary to train WITH food... then you gradually wean them off of the treats. Now Hunter is almost 1 year old, and doing all of these tricks, and several more, without the use of treats... and using hand signals. :)

  • @iheartbassets3 that's pretty impressive, because of how food-oriented bassets are!

  • He is a cutie

    =D

  • Hunter is just like my basset. He will work hard, but only for treats. Definately a union dog.

  • so cute!

  • Very cute!
