Wow you just lied to these kids. You are exemplifying everything that is wrong with teachers in public school by claiming he was some sort of righteous figure. Galileo Galilei did recant his claim and then promised only to talk about heliocentrism as a hypothesis. If he hadn't he would have been tortured and then killed. Later he promised he would never even talk about the subject which lead to him work more on the laws of falling objects.
