This guy literally put a new meaning on to one persons garbage is anothers treasure. after the radio had over played and beat these songs to hell he takes them in and gives them some tender loving care and puts out this musical gold. which in some cases in some of the song he makes them better then they were in the first place. (personal opinon of course) He created the meaning to one mans garbage anothers treasure and were all enjoying it now
@bschoe2 Girl Talk takes dead, radio friendly SHITS and breathes new life into them. Those artists should be grateful to be a part of something better than they could ever dream of producing.
This guy takes crappy assed pop songs that I would otherwise NEVER listen to and makes them awesome...now when I hear the same dog crap on the radio I am reminded of how much better sound when he re-invents them. This guy did guys like me a favor...
@AnimalShoah I suspect that most of Girl Talk's fans are simply uninterested, not to mention unwilling, in giving these pop artists a second chance (or ear, in this case). If that's the case, then why should these artists be grateful? How exactly are they benefitting from having their music spliced in these mashups? I certainly don't hear their songs being given more radio time as a result of Girl Talk's success.
@writersblock26 This IS me giving these artists a second chance. If their goal is to be heard and given their profession, it obviously is ... then, these mashups are allowing their music to fall on once indifferent ears. If it is a financial issue you're talking about, then I could not possibly care any less about how much some jag-off makes in royalties over something greater than he/she is lucky to be a part of.
@bschoe2 how do you think rap is made? Same with almost all DJs, they take samples of hit songs from certain eras that people have generally forgotten about and makes new hits out of them. The only difference is girltalk combines those old samples with new hit songs too.
@mecantbreakdance any 18 year old highschool girl who loves girltalk isn't thinking "wow what great mixing and looping". No, they hear that old catchy nelly or beyonce hook they forgot about, imposed on another beat, and bam. I know what DJing and sampling is, and girltalk isn't really all that creative. RJD2 and DJ shadow make him look like some FM radio sell out.
@bschoe2 you've got a point. but it takes creativity to realize what song would go perfectly with what. Sure Shadow and RJD2 are more talented, but I just saw girl talk live last friday and it will go down as one of the funnest moments of my life. His energy and live show is all part of the package and its just not as good without it
