It is fantastic to listen to Rush. They have been so good for so long, and been so diverse. To hear them in conversation is very entertaining. I have been listening to them for over 30 years, and still enjoy the music as much as ever. Thanks for posting.
who care about the rock 'hall of fame "? The fans have no vote so what is it worth ? The people who vote are the same ones who promote and give record deals to shit like britney spears and other talentless hacks . Piss on the hall of fame
This is not a diss on Johnny Cash - It's a diss on the Hall of shame lame corporate POS industry ... it makes no sense to me to have a country legend in there when the greatest rock band ....wait the greatest working rock band on the planet to be snubbed.... I just have zero respect for the politics of it all and would never even think about going there - Love " Rush " these guys truly are what it's all about - passion / and more passion
@RandyDoddMusic yes, it's absurd--they have no-talent asswipes like the Stooges and New York Dolls in there--it's really the Rock n Roll Hall of Bullshit
@RandyDoddMusic Without Johnny Cash, you wouldn't have modern rock music, Rush included. He was inducted into the Pioneer section, as he helped pioneer rock n' roll.
Johnny Cash and Rush are equally genius in different ways. Johnny Cash has been around since the 50's remember, he was very important in the creation of rock n roll because he influenced Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, and many others.
Fuck...felt horrible for Peart. Leave the man alone. He clearly doesn't want to talk or think about that, he's made it fairly clear that this point, it's just rude.
It SHOULD be called the rock and roll hall of shame. 3rd in albums sales all time-dammit show some friggin respect for The Holy Trinity. I have to agree Caress of Steel is one of my favs too.
It is nice to see that 3 "superstars" are still such regular guys. Unfortunately, Mr. Peart's loss is part of the bands history and will always come up.. They survive/endure it and move on. Like all true Rush fans their persistence is as appealing as their music..
PS: Caress Of Steel is still one of my Favs.. Dinko
You could see Neils obvious discomfort when this guy started pushing him about the time period when he lost his wife and daughter. It was the worst time in Neils and the bands career. Why can't these journalists show a little respect for the mans privacy. How the #@#!@# would this idiot feel if his wife and daughter died within 11 months...geez
The most instrumentally talented band ever. I remember the first time i heard Hemispheres i figured this was like a 5 or 6 piece band. When i saw it was only 3 guys i was like, oh cmon, thats impossible lol.
I have read, listened to and watched many an interview most often only with Geddy and Alex and this was by far the most thorough and casual one I've ever seen. True, the Dark Period segment was uncomfortable but that is what a good interviewer does..not just throw softballs. The fact that John Roberts asked it is what allows hardcore ones like myself realize how hard it was for all of them and how our favorite band became secondary as it should have." Caught the spirit in 1982 " I love you Rush!
is the interviewer's first name DICK?

@goku8586 Journalists have to walk a fine line with stuff like that. Remember, they have to write obituaries. Nobody likes writing those.

The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame is a pollitical organization so entry isn't about legitimization.

I totally agree. REALLY bad move bringing up that Dark Time in Neil's life. Made me sick just watching that.
Let's talk more positive!!

why did Roberts bring up the Dark Period, you can see how uncomfortable Neil was , as well as Geddy & Alex... Bad Move...let it rest already

Great interview.
But damn you John ROberts for doing that Neil about 8 mins in. Damn you! This is why Neil has backed away from doing those things.

Very rare for Neil to be this talkative. You can still see the very private guy that shuts down: "On to happier subjects".
