Palin's ignorance and ego allowed her to accept a position she was totally unqualified for her. There was no way McCain/Palin was going to win and it was because people were terrified of her being in the White House. Thank God we have had the past two years where she has proven repeatedly just how stupid she truly is, but even worse, she's proven herself to be vindictive, mean and divisive. If you look at her record or lack of it in Alaska, anyone could have predicted this.
Intelligent? The woman is so dumb that if brains were dynamite she wouldn't be able to blow her nose.Like most Republicans she is ignorant and proud of her ignorance.
Palin was a political gamble by a desperate campaign. McCain thought the American people were stupid enough to fall for a gimmick, but the truth was only the Republican base was stupid enough to buy into the Palin pick.
Palin is a Joke plan and simple, we have been witness to the slow destruction of 2 political careeers, John McCain is finished in Politics and Palin will continue to erode the Republican brand.

I think The McCain campaign took a political gamble and they had no idea how much Palin didn't know. Pat is right, she was sensational at the Convention. And then she began to give interviews. This wasn't about the economy it was about her ability to reveal how much she didn't know every time she spoke.
Some people call evolution a "belief" for a reason: its the holy doctrine they've interchanged religion with. reasonable people know that science is to be debated, examined and criticzed, not merely "believed"
why does not having a "belief" in evolution make you ignorant?
Certain systematics within evolutionary theory are debated all the time, they are not blindly believed down to every comma and period like some people believe the stories in your book of fairy tales.
The evidence for evolution is so overwhelming that to question whether evolution occured and is occuring defies logic and reason.
I never said evolution hasn't occurred. And I never said I was a Christian.
the person on this video is not a scientist debating systems w/in evolution. his position is that any layman who doesnt "believe," unequivocally, in evolutionary theory is ignorant.
yes, people, like him, do blindly believe evolutionary theory without question, & they consider those who are skeptical of Darwin to be ignorant.
Pat Buchanan is a complete idiot. His party does not celebrate ignorance, it utilizes other people's ignorance for its own benefit. Divide and conquer: it worked in colonialism and it worked in most American elections since the 80's. Too bad it did not work this time, you bunch of saps.
Neo-con Republicans are too busy seeking power for the sake of holding power instead of having a direction and vision for America that they're trying to promote.
Old school republicans were business conservative and kept out of the social bull shit. Even if they overturn Roe Vs Wade how is that going to help us compete against China and India ... We live in a big world and we'd better open our eyes.
There was 1 thing in common with all the Republicans that came out in support of Obama, and that was their dislike of Palin. Yes, she energizes are certain segment of the Republican party, but as you can see from the videos of her rally's, that's a part of the party that many Republicans would prefer no one ever got to see.
If Republicans continue to embrace people like Palin, then there should be no questions as to why they've struggled to win recently.
Do you believe in "turn the other cheek"? "He who lives by the sword dies by the sword"? These GOP Christians are NOT Christians. I specifically was thinking you were defending the McCain campaign including palin because her name came up in so many other comments here.
Though, considering how many votes mccain still got despite many bush admin endorsements and him agreeing with bush so much and palin, a far right conservative, i think the polls showed more that people got tired of all the negativity and the stupidity displayed in the campaign.
you need to remember, while she was considered an anti-corruption maverick, her state, and she did nothing to stop this reputation, is known as a welfare state because of its big government and heavy taxes on business as well as how much federal money is sucked into it.
Their poll numbers rose a great deal when people knew very little about her except that she was from alaska, which had been in the news alot because of Stevens.
Their numbers went down the more she talked though.
You notice Pat keeps going back to when Sarah Palin was first announced for how helpful she was, and attributes the high love back then to some greatness about her.
He ignores that that was also when people knew nothing about her and she said all the right (substance-less) things to get the bases emotions riled up for the idea of a true social conservative in the white house.
She had no solid policy ideas. Its crazy how many repubs are still excited about her.
"He ignores that that was also when people knew nothing about her"
Indeed, McCain rebounded in the polls because people DID fall in love. They fell in love with the idea of Palin. The reality was somewhat more distasteful.
This was awesome! LOL. Republicans do accept ignorance. They are willing to put the entire nation at risk. Anyone who thinks Palin was qualified to be Vice President or President is truly an idiot.
It speaks volumes about the idiocy of "the Republican Base" (whatever that is) that a low-grade moron beauty queen like Palin could fool so many of them into thinking she had even a shred of competence.

I think Palin could make a serious run...in about 2024. She'd be 60 years old and still full of that pep and down home charm. He is dead on about Palin. She is an absolute joke & incometence personified. God, I can't stand Meeka. She is a whiner, & usually out of touch. Pat is funny, but completely wrong, & he knows it. He's intelligent and knowledgeable, she is completely unqualified and represents the part of America- the loony religious right- that I hope we continue to move away ffrom.
Jkerouac02, weren't you the person who said that after the election you wished Palin would "fall off the face of the earth?" Lol, I love that line. My sentiments exactly.
What I do find funny though is that O'Donnell and his ilk like 'the spitter' on hardball consistently say Repubs and especially foxnews are liars and you can't believe anything they say. But now, they have no trouble believing that a governor didn't know afica was a continent. The spitter acts like it is verified fact and not just AN ANONYMOUS RUMOR. Even the biggest left winger Olbermann had a segment where it was clearly stated that these comments have to be taken with a grain of salt.
I think if you don't believe in evolution because of your religion, you lead a faith with your eyes closed rather than open. Practically every Christian I know believes in evolution. Imagine if Buchanan had said "your party is the party of death"? Assuming every lib or dem wanted absolutely no restriction on abortion, late term, born alive or otherwise. When you get into these name calling, lump everyone into one group politics, you lose your credibility. That said, Repubs need to wake up!
i descended from a monkey, and i'm still smarter than pat.
palin is loved by the religious right ONLY, so you know pat is hard for her. they dont care if she knows which way is up, as long as she wants to win the country for Jesus.

Why is O'Donnell taking as a serious commentator? He is a hack who would get no ratings if he was the host. Palin killed Biden in the debate; that is why Soledad O'Brien had to lie about the results of the participants in the number of hands that were raised at the CNN studio, and Biden had to lie 14 times during the debate. Notice how O'Donnell was never able to answer Pat on why McCain rose up all those points after he picked Palin if she was so unliked.
and the american people have spoken on palin and that brand of ignorant politics and ignorant politicians, thats why your old douchebag and that cunt lost in a landslide, and was mostly her fault...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Again, why did McCain's numbers go up after he picked her if she was so bad? Why did conservative talk radio not fully support McCain until he picked Palin. Why was Biden the one who had to lie 14 times during the debate? Why was it the Obama camp that had to hide their VP Biden after he proved himself to be a nut?
Sarah Palin was great unitil she opened her mouth freely unscripted. She is a disastor and people need to stop voting based on whos more like you if so do you think your up to the job of president. Look at bush he could relate with people all day long but he wasnt a very bright man. From now on elect people with higher gpa's then you. I trust wisdom not relation and if people start voting with there heads instead of there feelings we will allways have a smart person leading us.
First of all, McCain had such a big jump, because the republican base was gungho for palin...and a lot of moderates were interested in her...until she opened her mouth. She was a much different candidate during her first few days until they found out the real Sarah. They kept Biden relatively obscure during the campaign because there was no need to have him in the spotlight. Obama was ahead and there was no point in risking any gaffes.
Palin a..a..ah...SENSATION!!!! Are you kidding me, until the Republicans put up inteligent candidates who know their left hand from their right they will keep on losing elections.
She was a Barbie Doll Joke! Drove people nuts with her run-on sentences, gotchas and bet yas - what an insult to our intelligence. If she is the best female the Reps can dredge up ~ what a shame.
O'Donnell is absolutely correct. Buchanan's answer is a typical example of arrogance meeting ignorance which sadly seems to epitomize the modern republican administration. If this continues to not only be crystal clear, but celebrated (as with Palin's apologists), the GOP will rightly dissolve
The truth is the truth. Palin is stupid. Five colleges in six years. She's stupid. Repubs love stupid. Why? They are afraid and cling to almost nothing as if it were their last breath.

Have you seen any of her interviews?
Have you listen to her speak unscripted?
There's plenty of evidence that can lead one to question her intellect.

Ha, O'Donnell questioning Buchanan's intelligence- akin to a tortoise questioning the speed of a cheetah.

"Ha, O'Donnell questioning Buchanan's intelligence- akin to a tortoise questioning the speed of a cheetah."
What is your basis for this making that claim?
Would you care to elaborate?
I can not recall any instance where Pat Buchanan impressed me with his intellect.
More importantly, O'Donnell DID NOT question Buchanan's intelligence.
O'Donnell said "you come from a party that celebrates ignorance".

Notice how O'Donnell was never able to answer Pat on why McCain rose up all those points after he picked Palin if she was so unliked.

wow your are seriously stupid..
all the polls said biden killed her in the debate.. look it up.
like o'donnell says to that idiot pat buchanan, its not your opinion that determines how she did in the debate, its the popular opinion ie the polls.
you really are dumb, do you believe in evolution? lol baffoon.

and the american people have spoken on palin and that brand of ignorant politics and ignorant politicians, thats why your old douchebag and that cunt lost in a landslide, and was mostly her fault...

Right on O'Donnell. How can you support Sarah Palin or anyone else who doesn't the the countries involved in the NAFTA?
Well, since the Republicans believe that the government should do nothing, then it is fitting to run a candidate incapable of doing something.

If she is the best female the Reps can dredge up ~ what a shame.
josie449 3 years ago 5
O'Donnell is absolutely correct. Buchanan's answer is a typical example of arrogance meeting ignorance which sadly seems to epitomize the modern republican administration. If this continues to not only be crystal clear, but celebrated (as with Palin's apologists), the GOP will rightly dissolve

Republican party glorifies ignorance.

The truth is the truth. Palin is stupid. Five colleges in six years. She's stupid. Repubs love stupid. Why? They are afraid and cling to almost nothing as if it were their last breath.
