  • A catchy, addictive pop song that would have been a smash hit had it been marketed properly. This is the definitive rendition; MJ's version sucks.

This video is highly entertaining, too.

  • Musical Youth had talent, and plenty of it; but when I saw them performing this song on TV, I knew they were finished. I've only recently discovered that it was co-written by the man who ripped my favourite band apart.

  • the sound quality is disgusting but the picture is not bad i have this video clip in better version & hang on on dvd yes i said on dvd a home made musical youth dvd

made in 2007 for the 25th anniversary of the band next year it will make 30 years as me

  • i didn't like this one it was better when they were more reggae style

  • i didn't like this one youth of today pass the dutchie great songs

  • lol ils ressemble aux jackson five, j'adore (I love) I'am french^^

  • IMO, michael jacksons version sounds about 1,000 times better then this....but I'm glad a band actually recorded it and released it and even made a video for it....just think if this and all the other unreleased thriller tracks were all kept on...would have made some awesome videos. Damn quincy jones left off so many good tunes.

  • I dont like this at all, they are known for Reggae not this shit.

  • @williepsycho Listen to Michael Jacksons version it's fantastic but it was never released, this song was never made for these boys

  • this was originally going to be put on Michael Jacksons album Thriller, but was cut by Quincy Jones, in my opinion it could have easily replaced "Lady In My Life" which is the song i listen to when i want to fall asleep.

  • I live in england man ! its multi cultural country some citys are majority pakistani and black and most of london.is too

  • @DctrNugget

I never said England wasn't multi-cultural. I said it was majority white which it is. America is multi-cultural but majority white.

  • @DctrNugget

I think you're viewing London and England based on how it is today. The demographics were probably different in the 80's when this video was made so keep that in mind.

  • The quality of the video is terrible.

  • @thedanielbressette

I'll have to disagree. I like this version better. At first i didn't like it at all... Sounds too commercial. It grew on me though. I just watched their Unsung last night. Sucks what happened to them. They could have been so big given the right instructions.

Could they have picked a more ugly main girl though? XP...

  • these were THE boyband of the 80s

  • saw them at badfest a couple of years back

    never played this though

    one to be forgotten

  • so 1980's, wish i was a teenager in those times

  • This was Jr Wait's only lead vocal. He played drums for the group. Dennis Seaton and Kelvin Grant usually did the lead vocals.

  • they were the 80s jackson 5

  • @SuperGraceland naw i beg to differ dnt forget New edition

  • I wish i could get a clear version of Michael's version cause this is a good effort but Michaels's version would have been a 1983/early 84 hit!

  • i can picture if this music video was just Michael. He would probably dance in the bus and probably dancing all over the place and there would be a whole group of dancers around him watching him dance. too bad michael did'nt do this song/

  • i mean too bad he did'nt put this song on his thriller album it could of been awesome.

  • lol this song was given to this group from MJ, I mean how could he? He would sing this much better!

  • Not really, it was Hawk Wolinski, one of the writers of this song, who gave it to Musical Youth. They never even knew MJ recorded it too, until I told them ;-) . The resemblance between the two versions is amazing.

  • :P :P

  • MJ's version is definitely better, but its a catchy song either way.

  • @thedanielbressette WOW I Had not realized it was a cover to mjs jaja until i listened to it tdy and saw u comment jajaja an aually have both songs jaja and yes mj's is better

  • was obama in this band?

  • Other than this song that was passed on by MJ, another song that was suppose to be on Thriller was Chaka Khan's Ain't Nobody and Quincy Jones wanted that song, but songwriter David Wolinski said that he already made a deal with Russ Titleman and wanted that song to showcase Chaka Khan's vocals.

  • Wow... id would have LOVED to hear that.

  • Yeh, me, too! Jeesh, that woulda been interesting...

  • michael jackson gave this to musical youth. he was going to release it on thriller..

  • They don't do it as good as him, but who could have.

  • true...

  • What's with all the hate?

I love the bridge in this song.

  • gaaay

  • Gay is good....Heyyyyyy!

  • wtf is this lol lol

  • its not a stupid accent? lol

  • Finally, someone told them to lose their stupid accent. But it was too late : Fake shit is still shit.

  • Musical Youth + pop = "Where are they Now?"

  • Dennis Seaton still going strong. One dead, 2 others cracked up.

  • to bad one of theses guys is dead

  • this vid is awful. lol

  • i heard your face was aweful D:I

  • What is the name of the youngest looking kid in Musical Youth ? He sings and plays guitar. Where is he now ??

  • The kid's name is Kelvin Grant and apparently, he's not coping too well with the downs after the big successes in the 80's. Sad story.

  • @vikesh81

Yeah that's Kelvin Grant. He has a website, myspace and facebook blogs. He was on the Musical Youth Unsung profile on TV One recently. He basically sounded like he had other interest besides music.

  • i hate the fact kids are singing!the worst choise musical youth made Pass the dutchie-musical youth was ok but the rest is C R A P stupid people

  • guitarfreak? wtf are u going spastic for?

  • how shit is this shit...its so shit even turds are waching this and saying "damn this shit stinks"..

  • dcflava74- nwacompton181 is so right for calling you a faggot and saying stop whining- every single comment you have wrote has been negative- dissing them copying the jacksons and saying all that bollocks that no-one gives a fuck about & doesnt read, just enjoy the fucking video & don't be a cockface and reply back, the moaning dick that everyone hates so get a life and keep your dirty mouth shut or i'll find u n kill u u cocksucking racist cunt and wanker, get the fucking message bastard?

  • I,ll pray for your soul,have a great day.

  • Find me,i live in NYC in the Bronx and see what will happen to u,u won,t last a second talking like that.U r just pathethic as well as an idiot,u need help.

  • To the idiot lowlife who had to resort to childish name calling by calling me a faggot,u don,t know anything about me and it just goes to show how ignorant and pathethic u are to resort to that,it was very unnecessary of u,it sounds like u r a very miserable individual.

  • Wow,i didn,t know Musical Youth at the time had made a crossover. This sound very Jackson-like or something that Five Star would make, sounds alright but it sounds like they were under alot of pressure from their record label to sound so much like the Jacksons.I rather hear their original roots reggae sound instead of this,it,s a wonder why they had a quick death in the industry.

  • quit whining and just enjoy it faggot

  • I can only agree with you. And as for sounding like The Jacksons: Hawk Wolinski actually wrote this for MJ's 'Thriller', so you were very close ;-) .

Yes, their roots reggae sound was really good and they were more talented than many people realise.

  • @dcflava74

I can kinda see why MCA wanted to cross them over some. As an American Reggae listener I've noticed that Reggae has a more niche fan base in America. This is mainly because of the exposure to Reggae in America. Reggae is mainly heard on college radio in the states. Rarely do Americans hear roots Reggae on commercial U.S stations. Outside of Pass The Dutchie I think MCA knew the rest of M.Y's music would appeal mainly to core Reggae fans who again are smaller in the U.S

  • ellie lloyd has huge knick knocks

  • I think the American record company made a mistake in hindsight releasing this song as a single. It sounds nothing like what Musical Youth is mostly known for. It sounds too much like a Jacksons song and MJ, who originally sung this and was a candidate for the Thriller album, would have been better off giving it to his brothers for the Victory album. It seemed like a good idea at the time considering Musical Youth was suffering an even quicker commercial decline here in America than in Britain.

  • LOL, They are the only black people on the bus.

  • lol again, take a look at 0:54. there all really white.

  • lol i love all races bless all one love

  • oh I see what your saying, lol

  • @sanyjh

Keep in mind they're in England a majority white nation.

  • @CrowdPleeza No its not its multi cultured nation :S

  • @DctrNugget

England is 88.2% white. This was probably higher in the 80's.

  • THIS SHIT AINT NO MUSICAL YOUTH!!!!

  • Sadly it is....unfortunately this kinda music killed Musical Youth...

  • Funny enough, this single was not released in Britain, where they are from, so I might see why you might be shocked by this.

  • michael jackson wrote this song!! :D

  • MJ didn't write it but Phil Collins did produce this... catchy tune better than pass the duchie... only made it to #65 in Feb. 1984

  • yes he did. it one of his demos that was going to be on thriller but didnt make the final cut.

u can watch it here watch?v=iIKWwqszXdI

  • It was not MJ who wrote this song, it was Hawk Wolinski from Rufus...

  • haha, did anyone else see the police man from "pass the dutchie" at the fron of the buss! :D

  • Yes- he was the groups manager's Lover.

  • this was originally meant for michael jackson

  • This sounds like Menudo.

  • look at that curl

    damn

    lol

  • This video is nice or me although the Musical Youth's original members had growed.
