  • @GeekVolution, actually when I found this film on it was a little sticker saying, "First Superman Animated Feature Rated PG-13!" which does prove that they tried to make this PG-13 so you're correct.

  • What would have been interesting is if they held off on this until they had a few movies under their belt, gaining the proper respect from viewers, so when they make a series of 7 or 8 films, with cliffhangers would be an awesome way to present a definitive adaptation. One in which we get backstory, a great fight, the JL and the Supermen Clones. Check out my review, its not as in depth like yours, but some enjoy it

  • The fight between doomsday and superman was awesome but everything else I didn't care for.

This would've better for me if it continued from Superman the animated series.

  • If u heard what they were gonna do in superman lives you would be thanking the gods above they didn't make it

  • lol "Superman Doomsvince" - Brandon

  • My friend and I did a version of this arc where Superman doesn't appear until the end.

  • I wrote a sequel to this with my friend Scoonertuna, where Superboy is created by Lex, but Superman saves him. I can PM it to you, if you'd like to see it.

  • Wow, you've really improved.

This review definitely has rookie-itus. I'm hearing a lot of "uh's" and "likes" in your speech... a large departure from the well-rehearsed reviews that you've given since this one.

  • @dstebbin Yep, you're not wrong. I was trying something more off the cuff with this first review-- since then, they've all been scripted.

  • Dude, I think more people should watch your videos. I love your analysis of superhero movies -- very detailed and show that you're a true fan. Thanks and keep up the good work man :-)

  • @khanhlong89 Thanks very much :)

  • They took a really great story and essentially GUTTED it. Yes, Superman dies. But what about AFTER that? I felt bringing the Supermen to the screen would be awesome. That's why I bought it. But it was a huge letdown. They need to stick to the comic arc, that was awesome and easy to do.

    alert lol

  • man, u make the best reviews!

  • It is a shame that it couldn't be a little more faithful to comics (though in all honesty, I've only read like one superman comic book), but it is overall good, but I would think that this movie is mediocre for the comic book fans (kinda like MOST, not all, comic book adaptations). But for what it's worth, I liked it.

  • Timm loves Batman, he knows the character so well he's able to do better movies about him. With Superman, he's still learning what Supes is and means to people and comic book fans. It's always a hit and miss thing when Timm does a Superman movie, since "All-Star" is about a story that already exists he couldn't F***up with that. Check the team ups, Batman is the one who shines because Supes is just there punching fire or K.O'd.

  • idk why but i just really enjoyed this movie. yea it wasn't long enough and the clone of superman wasn't that interesting . but honestly the part when superman grabs doomsday when he tries to crush the kid and rockets into the sky with him was one of the best superman moments i have seen. The music was very well done and so was the animations.

  • I quite liked this movie. it was at least better then Returns.

  • @deadman00

It's not hard to be better than Returns. Lex Luthor wants to create a continent for high value real estate.

That sums up the film's problem nicely.

  • Returns had a LOT of issues which i wont go into now.

    doomsday was enjoyable.

  • Doom Vs Sups that should've stuck as the movies plot for 1

They should use the Doomsday from Superman Apokolipse it looks far more accurate, bones on the eyes are missing & he needs to be bit bigger . The JLA fight should've been included & the citizens perspective of Doom's rampage more apparent & the battle should've led up to the Metropolis final battle Sups Death should be the movie's end but leave the cliff hanger of the 4 supermen so a follow up movie coulda been made

  • noone would know if superman killed doomsday or died trying untill he returns later.

  • good points, but I think this review is a little too harsh. Still, I do agree with some of your points.

  • and in those exceptions, most guest starring non-title characters do end up helping the superhero. its a simple concept of focus into the main story and not being tempted into convoluted plots. yes, evil supes could've been better developed, but i get him, why he doesn't work and serves the purpose to move the story forward so he's better than average and it worked for the movie. i'd give it 2.5 though, it's rare to find good cartoons like these nowadays.

  • um, no, if they added the justice league into this it would've turned into an incomprehensible, overly cluttered mess that would've left too many things out and unexplained. if you even add a clip of another superhero you'll have to wonder, "ok, well if the justice league is around, why arent they helping good superman fight evil superman? it's why ALL superhero movies feature only the title characters, with rare exceptions.

  • definitely would like a review of batman under the red hood & batman/superman apocalypse (the supergirl DC animated movie). since all live action comic films always cut & splice stuff to make a feature film, here goes: Doomsday is jettisoned from a planet left to float aimlessly through space, darkseid notices & changes his trajectory for earth for him to cause a distraction, chaos & weaken any opposing forces, supes dies, darseid invades, intro DC characters/spin-offs - JLA, supes arises,...

  • @kakuichi I second the Under the Red Hood review. I watched this a few weeks ago and it totally rocked.

  • The clone was like Superboy Prime to me .

  • The really sad thing is Doomsday DID appear in the Justice League series as a clone of Superman but he was NEVER on the level he was in the comics. He gets lobotomized by Justice Lord Superman ("A Better World") and finally Phantom Zoned (""The Doomsday Sanction")

  • my god was this a bad movie. the opening fight scene between superman and doomsday is epic as hell, but the rest of the movie is boring, and wouldnt have been that way if they actually stuck more to the comic. I wanted to have four superman like in the comic instead of one. fuck this movie

  • i dunno about the comic but the d.v.d version sucked to my opinion cause fight between the doomsday & superman waz to short and the onlly reason i got the d.v.d cuase i expected see one hell of a fight between the two ,...boy waz i ripped off.....

  • I think you mean Steel not Cyborg.

  • My production company is making a live Death Of Superman fan trailer. Our vision will be based more on the Death Of Superman comic. If it goes well we will make Funeral For a Friend and then The Reign Of The Supermen.

  • @TheZoProductions Very cool! I'd love to know more.

    -Captain Logan

  • Why the hell didn't Superman just plunge Doomsday's ass into the sun? I mean, Superman wouldn't be harmed by the sun, based on the fact that that's how he gets his powers. Doomsday on the other hand, I doubt would have the same luck.

  • @SupaBriMan26 well doomsday would die but would come back and be immune to heat

  • @mina319 Good point. Doomsday has been a constant problem for him.

  • I enjoyed the movie (much better than the dire Superman Returns.)

Did anyone else feel sorry for the clone? I don't think he did anything wrong.

  • i agree

  • Really enjoyable review I feel. Will you do a review of Spider-Man, Iron Man and Batman???

  • Interesting idea for this I feel.
