Another thing is what about an air multiplier ceiling fan? Cause I reckon something like that would really good! I know theres already a certain air conditioning, but I just had a bit of curiosity about something like that.
Wow these air multiplier fans are really great, And pretty flash too! But so bloody expensive! Although these fans are really good theres nothing wrong with the regular conventional fans!
I've never felt any buffeting, of course I have central air conditioning. Besides, who in their right mind would spend $450.00 to do what a $20 fan will do?
What if the "annular aperture" gets clogged up with dust over time? Air speed will no doubt decrease yes? Plus it will be a bitch to clean, if it is possible at all.
@anadus7 "What if the "annular aperture" gets clogged up with dust over time? Air speed will no doubt decrease yes? Plus it will be a bitch to clean, if it is possible at all."
Google search result: Buffeting is a high-frequency instability, caused by airflow separation or shock wave oscillations from one object striking another.
Where it sure looks cool, read the reviews b4 you buy, apparently its jet engine loud and doesn't push that much air for the cost. Even if it was a nice light breeze and Silent I might get it but def not if its loud.
@1romancandle I am a Dental tech. I produce removable prosthesis (dentures, partials, etc...) I suppose your going blame me as well for not trying to find a cure for cancer? I guess my priorities are all perverted as well.
It's a hollow apparatus with the fan in the base. No reason at all for the hefty price. This thing is the Apple Computer of the fan world: basic components in a sleek, pretty package, designed for people with more money than brains.
I have a 20 inch fan with 3 speeds and it cost me 20 bucks. I don't notice any buffeting that is irritating. I can sleep soundly on a hot night with the fan on high speed. So unfortunately I can't justify to myself the price of this fancy machine. I will give credit to them for their innovation and ingenuity.
I love the dyson products and i own his biography but the products are too expensive. He would blow everybody out of the water if the price was lower. It starts at 400 for the dyson ball. :(

This is a good example of a product designed without a market in mind. Id bet their marketing team simply invented the idea of "buffeting".

What would be nice is a small, portable version of this.
It'd be similar to other portable fans except there'd be no blades that break after 17 seconds of use.
