All is true but a player can still come back from 2 sets down. Best of 3 a match can be over in an hour and it can be lost on 2 tie breaks. IMO its a downgrade. Its a pity.
You have to give Murray enormous credit for winning a Masters title at such a young age.
He's arrived . He has huge potential to win a Slam. But whilst Federer and Nadal are in the draws its a big ask. Only Nadal , Federer and Djokovic are proven in recent times. And they are only the true consistent players . This is the era of the inconsistents.One last thing to add. Why have they downgraded the Masters finals to best of 3 sets instead of best of 5 sets? It now makes it so much easier to win.
I think the reason the finals are best of 3 is partly to do with TV scheduling (especially in America) and the fact that the 2006 Rome Masters final between Federer & Nadal lasted 5 hours. I think I read that viewers aren't keen on watching what could be a 5 hour match. Also, the tennis tour is so long that the risk of injury etc. is higher if it's best of 5. I think (correct me if I'm wrong anybody) that Nadal and Federer both pulled out of the next masters tournament after that 2006 final.

Andy Murray is not an "Amazing" Player, he is moderately good, and being as we havent had a decent player in 30 years the press are making him out to be better than he actually is. Frankly after some of the comments he has made in the press i dont like the spotty little oik either, and i was rooting for Nadal at Wimbledon. He has humility, respect for his opponents and manners. Murray is spotty, rude little pip-squeak, and when he loses for a 6th time to Nadal very soon ill be a very happy man.

Completely agree. I've been on an American tennis forum and there has been huge praise for Murray. There are also a lot of comments about how negative us Brits are about our no.1 player. Every tennis player can lose their temper. I've never seen Murray do anything that I've not seen other players do 100 times + I've seen players do a lot worse. Most tennis players go through that, Federer did it, Mac was the biggest tantrum thrower,Conner's, need I go on. Its to do with controlling the emotion running through them. Disappointment at their own performance is where it is usually aimed at. Not at the other player, Andy has always given himself a hard time for making mistakes. He is young and it learning, as they all do now and in the future.

well he has taken them all out Fed - twice - DjOko - twice. He is gunning for Nadal now, all great tennis which we all enjoy. I wasnt sure about Djoko as there has been abit bad press about him, but he played amazingly on the first set against Nadal, so kudos to him. I think Murray and Djoko will have many run in's and they are good friends too which makes it even better. What ever the case, Tennis benefits from having such great characters being added to the mix, it was too much Federer and Nadal, as much as I like them the same final's was getting tiring. I think Federer is sheer class, Nadal is a power house.

All is true but a player can still come back from 2 sets down. Best of 3 a match can be over in an hour and it can be lost on 2 tie breaks. IMO its a downgrade. Its a pity.

You have to give Murray enormous credit for winning a Masters title at such a young age.
He's arrived . He has huge potential to win a Slam. But whilst Federer and Nadal are in the draws its a big ask. Only Nadal , Federer and Djokovic are proven in recent times. And they are only the true consistent players . This is the era of the inconsistents.One last thing to add. Why have they downgraded the Masters finals to best of 3 sets instead of best of 5 sets? It now makes it so much easier to win.

I think the reason the finals are best of 3 is partly to do with TV scheduling (especially in America) and the fact that the 2006 Rome Masters final between Federer & Nadal lasted 5 hours. I think I read that viewers aren't keen on watching what could be a 5 hour match. Also, the tennis tour is so long that the risk of injury etc. is higher if it's best of 5. I think (correct me if I'm wrong anybody) that Nadal and Federer both pulled out of the next masters tournament after that 2006 final.

Andy Murray is not an "Amazing" Player, he is moderately good, and being as we havent had a decent player in 30 years the press are making him out to be better than he actually is. Frankly after some of the comments he has made in the press i dont like the spotty little oik either, and i was rooting for Nadal at Wimbledon. He has humility, respect for his opponents and manners. Murray is spotty, rude little pip-squeak, and when he loses for a 6th time to Nadal very soon ill be a very happy man.

I think that Murray and Djokovic will be the same as Nadal and Federer in the race to the top. They are good friends and have known each other since they were 13. It makes the game more exciting. Completely agree. I've been on an American tennis forum and there has been huge praise for Murray. There are also a lot of comments about how negative us Brits are about our no.1 player. It doesn't go unnoticed by other countries. It doesn't make us sound very UNITED -- pretty pathetic to be honest. I admire other players and even support other players but NOT against Murray. You've lost me. I didn't see anything in this interview. As for the Wimbledon incident. It was directed at his coach to show that the gym sessions were working. It had nothing to do with Nadal. TBH it just sounds like you dislike. Fair enough - you're entitled to your opinion. I've never seen Murray be anything but complimentary about Nadal - before and after matches. Murray is very careful about what he says to the media.

Every tennis player can lose their temper. I've never seen Murray do anything that I've not seen other players do 100 times + I've seen players do a lot worse. Murray has worked hard on all aspects of his game + he controls his tempera lot better than he used. He's not perfect but again he's only 21. Disappointment at their own performance is where it is usually aimed at. Not at the other player, Andy has always given himself a hard time for making mistakes. He is young and it learning, as they all do now and in the future.

Next it will be his teeth are not bright enough, his legs are too long. His hair is the wrong colour. He looked at the camera the wrong way. The tennis balls are favouring his shots over others. There is no pleasing some ao I think Andy spends his time more productively, which to me is the best way to go about it. Andy is an up and coming sports man who has done alot in his two and half years as a pro. ranked 514 - 2005 and now 6 two and half years later. That speaks for its self.

Completely agree. Murray will never please everyone. I think that's a fact. As long as he continues to improve I'll be happy. He's 6 in the world at 21. That's an amazing achievement. Also, he's competing with (I think) 2 of the best players EVER. Add Djokovic as well. He's definitely more media savvy now. It's about time the British people and press got behind him.

Well they will boost him up, to rip him apart as they did with Tim. I think Tim has warned Andy of the two faced press. Thats why I dont think he cozys up to them. Good for him

I like Murray, and i just wanted to add to your comment that he will never please everyone. Really, none of the players ever please everyone, there are always going to be some haters out there. But these guys are all young, (Murray is 21) they are just growing up and maturing and learning from their mistakes, people should be more understanding.....(i'm not famous but i can definitely relate to that.)

Thats nonsense, we are not all that cynical. Murray is new on this stage at this level he has worked hard on all areas. He proved to his team that it has paid off. Nothing more or less. Do you really believe that he was doing that for Nadal, as if Nadal was watching. Your more manic that I think. Nadal stated he was tired before Djokovic spanked him in Cincinnati that doesnt make excuses for him either then. Your talking rubbish. He's been around a few years now about the same as Nadal infact...I accept Nadals tired he's won two grandslams and goodness knows how many other matches...Murray just hasn't got the stamina as Nadal though...you can't compare the two...the top 10 can be diveded into three Federer and Nadal,Djokovic, then the rest...

Nadal has been no 2 for 4 years, Murray was only pro in 2005 so your talking nonsense. He was ranked 514 when he started 30months later he is ranked 6 in the world. . Thats also with a year where he was injuredI would say that record says it all. Murray was lacking in a few area's that is no more. He has beaten the no 3 twice and the number 1 twice, he is not gunning for Nadal's scalp which I think he has no fear. Andy will just improve, heard the saying if you cant say anything nice say nothing

well he has taken them all out Fed - twice - DjOko - twice. He is gunning for Nadal now, all great tennis which we all enjoy. I just wish some infantile fans would get it together and not make it so personal attack on these sports men. Its all very sad that adults no matter where their loyalties lie cant appreciated the sportsmans skill and have a go at them behind a pc screen. Very massive aggressive behaviour, usually cowards. Andy was brilliant and Djoko was a great runner up.

I'm a big Djokovic fan, but the two of them were friends and it almost seemed Novak was happier at the end of the match than Andy. He took it well, and congrats Andy, but like someone said earlier, cheer up. You're giving Scotland and bad name!

I wasnt sure about Djoko as there has been abit bad press about him, but he played amazingly on the first set against Nadal, so kudos to him. I think Murray and Djoko will have many run in's and they are good friends too which makes it even better. What ever the case, Tennis benefits from having such great characters being added to the mix, it was too much Federer and Nadal, as much as I like them the same final's was getting tiring. I think Federer is sheer class, Nadal is a power house.

I don't know about prices, but Sky offers pretty extensive coverage of ATP tour and Grand Slams. You get it on Sky Sports Xtra and important matches on Sky Sports 2.

thanks Sarahmcquillan - but i think to get all the sports channels you have to pay for the full sky package - now around £42/month in UK. Way too expensive!
