The first time I went fishing I was 6 or 7.

My dad made me and my brother kill and clean them ourselves. Something like that would probably traumatize a kid from today's soft generation but, it taught me the value of life and cemented my cultures (Navajo) respect for the environment and all living things into my brain until the day I die.

I'm 20 now, and seeing this kid being a responsible fisherman when so many would subject it to a slow miserable death really is great to see.

When you drag the fish through the water like that to "revive" it, don't push it backwards through the water. Instead drag it forward and make it turn around and go the other way facing forward. When water enters the gills that way it can really cause damage to the fragile gill rakers. This is why many fish die after being released

Newby here starting to catfish.. For cats Bout 25-70lb I have the big water ugly stix medium heavy with the penn fierce 7000 model reel. 25lb line. You think this is good enough for that range of cats? And live bait vs cut bait somebody please help me here. Thanks so much. By moving the fish back in forth in the water, it allows water to flow through their gills, thus allowing the fish more oxygen. This is the proper way to "revive" a fish. Nice catch!
