1:15 Did...did Firestrom just torch a gigantic swastika into the side of a mountain? Did Spiderman's Amazing Friend actually demonstrate that sometimes Nazi graffiti is okay if the ends justify the means? I think I understand why this one got yanked from syndication.
People are so goddamned stupid these days...the Nazis in this episode are obviously the BAD GUYS. Before you know it, they'll be putting CGI bathrobes on all the Nazis in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
viewers may have stopped wanting to follow spidermans footsteps because they viewed spidermans agility being capable of making the swastika with his arms and legs...and wouldn't have thought that that was good to put that sign out every where they walked. some viewers looking at the writing swastika on spiderman and his amazing friends who would have shared that reason, may think that they are looked upon as ones who shared spidermans emblem looked like swastika. so write swastika in the show.
Actually. It was the West German Government. They wanted to look good to the Allies and simply banned alls Symbols which were abused by the Nazis. The Jews had no influence in creating the "Ban of anti-constitutional Symbols".
Actually I would like the Swastika to be removed from that list. The only swastika that should be banned is the NSDAP Version.
I understand some of the sensitivity , but Aren't they supposed too be the bad guys? Is'nt that the point of this episode? It's not like the Spider-man are saying Heil Hitler.
I absolutely agree with you. But the German Gouvernment still is mentally in the Postwar Period when it comes to that subject. In Germany all symbols that "can be mistaken for an anti-constitutional Symbol" are illegal. That goes especially for the Swastika. That's why for an Exemple the Manga Blade of the Immortal had to be edited for German release.
I have always hated political correctness. Not because it's wrong, but because it's phony. I would rather have someone tell me what they really think to my face instead of behind my back. But I guess that in the year 2009 it's more acceptable to be a robot.
Thats because the baby boomer generation reached the age where they held power. The good thing is that they are geting old and dying off . People will start to care less about pc as a result.
The logic here must have been, "The show has a swastika, so spiderman must be a nazi"

I dont feel the swastika was offensive in this episode. It's just part of the story.
People cry too much.

Sadly this Episode is unavailable in Europe. Especially in Germany where the mere depiction of a swastika is a criminal offense.

@Yasukunidude but a backwards swaztika is a peace symbol but i bet if it was used anywhere it would still be taken off the air

This episode is most likely the one with the Red Skull...it'd be nice if someone could upload the entire episode.

People have become hyper-sensitive and too politically correct over the last two decades where you can't fart without offending someone.
