The US Military created LSD, its purpose was not to be used on the enemy. Its main purpose was to creat super soldiers that didn't get teird or feel pain and would keep going no matter what. Unfortunatly It went horribly wrong.

Yes, the US government tried to use it for the purposes you're talking about but they had literally no part in the actual creation of the drug. If you sprayed LSD on a commited enemy like the Viet Cong, They would see better, fight harder, and laugh like crazy when they blew your head off. Just a bad idea all around. But for them opium did the trick anyway.
