Notice how the models in the advert (and on the back of the box) were higher quality detail wise than the ones we got in the actual box. more detailed etc.
I wish I could be a kid in a 90s board game advert. You just loudly yell the things that you do in the game and apparently its the most fun shit in the world.
With Rogue Trader, THIS is where the road to Games Workshop began. I remember this advert and I saw it 15 years ago (or somewhere along that). Wicked!
@LuigianoMariano Were they? I thought they were Genestealers in SC. Those were the days... in 2nd Edition Warhammer 40K (which was 'current' 40K at that time) there were whole armies of Genestealers available, with half-human Genestealers, cultists and magi. Now they just form part of Tyranid armies... they still look the same though, after all these years!
@BonVoyeur1 If you played the Computer Games, the Mission Briefings and Unit Description clearly state the Purple Alien as a "Soulsucker". There were even Soulsucker Eggs that needed to be destroyed to prevent further infestation.
It's probably a good guess that the Soulsucker was a very early Idea that was expanded upon in the Space Hulk series which lead to the creation of the Tyranids.
@LuigianoMariano I never knew that - thanks for this interesting trivia. :-D I was also a 40K player at the time and there was actually a Genestealer in the very first 40K sourcebook... it had the insect carapace, four arms and backjointed legs, but the head was more like a lampray or a worm. They must have decided, as you say, to use the Soulsucker monster design as the blueprint for Genestealers and Tyranids.
Genestealers, eh? Even one of them could wipe out 2, 3 or even 4 marines!
I haven't been keeping up with that for a long while. Seems GW is mainly interested in WH40k and Fantasy Battles. I'm surprised they still have Epic WH40k going!
I wouldn't mind playing SH or SC. I like the Raptors for some reason, lesser known chapters need some attention, too!
this and heroquest are damn awesome the best boardgame ever made, they are soo old and the prime father of all role playing games !!i love this ganmes they will never be boring,i still have the two !!^^
seeing this video, i´ve come back to my chillhood, it´s not difficult to realise that the kids that were playing in the video belong to a great age passed when we haven´t computers and internet at home, but we had great table games like space crusade and heroquest XD. casually, today i have played space crusade with a friend and my girlfriend, and we have enjoyed it so much. games like these, can never die!!!. five stars...
I hear you on that man, I still remember the advert clearly. The whussy sound to the bolter aside, this was a great board game I'd play with the family.
The hero's quest advert as just as good, but strangely isn't on YT?
it was a co production of mb and gw like heroquest before it, was kinda like a starter version of space hulk, if anyone even knows what that was anymore, was a fun game and a good introduction to games of this type
@TheMuumituuba Actually, Space Marine bolters can fire fully automatic, but my point is, that they don't make such a whussy noise as they have here. They fire 50 caliber explosive rounds. Rocket Propelled rounds that that, they should be LOUD
OH MY FRIGGIN GOD... THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS!
It was such a long time ago... I was begging my parents like crazy to get this game for me, and my grandpa ACTUALLY BOUGHT IT... BEST. CHRISTMAS. EVER.
I´ve seen this commercial as a nine year old boy. So I bought it. It was my first contact to Warhammer 40K. But in germany called it Star Quest, not Space Crusade. The Milton Bradley (MB) wants to sell it under the name in germany, because Hero Quest are a bestseller. They tried to make money here once again. Great game. Redux it!
I didn't remember all the detail but I recalled there being space crusade and hero quest back in the day of 1990. Year later I presumed I must have dreamt it up or something.
The most unnecessarily epic commercial ever.
