This great tune reminds me of me childhood in Juarez Mexico , my stepfather is a US citizen, he was driving a 1969 chevy chevelle !!!! What a great times !!!
another song my first love in 8th grad told me was ours. I am so glad i have the memories of him and these songs help. We may have been young and went our separate ways but it was an everlasting love. We havent seen each other in years.
@1dog2love You are a time traveler???? You born in the 90´s, kid!!. This song is from the 70´s. I´m 28 old and I don´t remember this song. Weird life....
@McCarthyyyyy04 But with a shitty sense of situation. The only thing you're accomplishing by stating this is that you feel superior to kids your own age, and need to be acknowledged by strangers on youtube. I know it sounds harsh but please stop this stupid trend of criticizing other peoples taste in music, no matter what kind of music there is there will always be those who prefer the music that is different. I know i'm ranting, but i don't care. It's for your own good
@McCarthyyyyy04...yes because there aren't a thousand other comments on similar videos of kids saying how they hate their generations music. *sarcasm*
@McCarthyyyyy04 It is refreshing to see that people in our youth these days actually enjoy and appreciate good music! Much props on your taste. I always loved music from generations before me, whether it was Otis Redding, Al Green, Frank Sinatra, or Creedence Clearwater.. Respect!
I would love to hear Carl cover the original Robert Knight version. IMO..... he's the better vocalist and would really strike the emotional/heartfelt impact of the song.
@chriseva If you were born in the 90s, you have an uncanny and unique taste for great music! Hope you continue to explore more 70s gems like this one!
Yea noone under the age of 40 watches glee guys so yea, love the talk about getting this out to the kids lol. I just played this for my girlfriend (23) and she hates it. my generation would rather hear lil wayne, sucks cause I gotta live with these morons.
I actually think it would be awesome if GLEE did a cover of this. Kids these days need more of these inspirational music than most of the mainstream songs that are usually about partying, drugs, and sex and what an awesome way to influence them than through GLEE? :)
love hearing this again!!!! aaaawwwww man, those were the days...makin' out in the car with the boyfriends to this...and so many other great old songs
it was the spring of 1974 when this was hits. i was in high school, the weather was warm, i was surrounded by my friends. that's what this song brings back to me, some of the happiest times of my life. and you knew you were living history when you heard this song on the radio, that it would never be forgotten.
In 1974, this song played in my head while I worked at Fort Bliss on the HAWK Missile Radar Systems. It has always reminded me of my ex-wife Kathy Starlene K.
We were a young couple with a toddler daughter. Finally, I bought a Fiat 850 Spider sports car (basically, a motorcycle for two skinny, young persons). I'd drive out to an old stage coach stop east of El Paso, Texas. I didn't take any precautions: no water, no food, nothing. If the car had broke down, we might have died out there!
Great song! Carl Carlton's best! Peaked on the U.S. Billboard chart in November 1974! I was in the 3rd grade when Carl's cover of "Everlasting Love" came out! That was in the 1974-75 school year - a loooong time ago!

@zTx1001 I watched it twice tonight.. and cried! My god it was just so lovely, what hit me the most was this massive crowd being able to shar something so precious with them. People can say what they want about the states 9not forgoing that half of these things are true) but this thing they do with thousands of people joining in to dance, it's amazing!! And he married her!
Respond to this video... Final the version I've been looking for, I went through 3 of the right song but the wrong tempo! :) Oooh I love i. It's an eVerLasTing L<3VE! I see top comment is about it being on glee... I guess no one would be surprisingly happy with them taking the song and commercializing it, at the same time, that way it reaches to so many more people who deserve to hear, and maybe even go see the amazing stuff that went on with this song. Please people don't be selfish
@SailorPinkRanger Probably no. But Glee did ruin the Journey classic "Don't Stop Believing" & it's hard to listen to b/c it's so bad of a cover. Tiffany's cover w/Debbie Gibson of it (despite the fact that Debbie had to ruin it) might be the best one I've heard & that ain't saying much. Glee ruins all the good songs. It doesn't only take a hater to say that. Some Glee viewers agree w/me.
@bucky468 Glee doesn't "ruin" anyhting. Sure, you may not like the covers, but how exactly does that ruin the original songs? "It's hard to listen to b/c it's so bad of a cover." Well then...stop listening to it. I personally hate their cover of "Rolling in the Deep" so I simply don't listen to it, and in no way do I consider the original song "ruined."
I think Carl got everyone dancing again with this one in 1974. Seems like dance music disappeared after the bobby socks days all the way thru the ballads and classic rock of the Vietnam era. Glad he got us moving again!
@Getrealpeeps sure am! i moved away in 2006 and came home one weekend to discover 99.7 was some garbage dance station. i was heartbroken...HEARTBROKEN i tell ya!
Just crank the song up, shut the door of your room (or better yet, burn it onto a CD and blast it out the car windows), and sing at the top of your lungs! That's what I did yesterday when driving in L.A. - and I didn't care WHO heard me!! =)

@KillJoyRD a little bit in the chorus, yes, but only when i tried to find a similarity. i knew this song from before, and i didn't think of it when i heard sing.
What I see as the difference between much of today's music and the 'oldies' is that the oldies tried all kinds of beats, moods, whims and fancies. A lot of today's stuff sounds like formula music to me, neatly packaged with the face and the video.
@funnygurlz666 I don't blame you! I do the same but then I'm 49 so it's natural! My eldest son is the same age as you and he too doesn't think much of today's music, I mean where's the talent? the personality etc etc? no wonder my son is into Kiss at the mo! my youngest is into Bon Jovi and he likes Herman's Hermits and Freddie and the Dreamers! have you ever heard of them?
