the only combos i see ryu doing online is LIGHT MEDIUM HEAVY LAUNCH, LAUNCH COMBO, TATSUMAKI SENPUUKENN, SHINKUU HADDOOKEEEN. freal...

and that simple ass combo takes up HALF of my damn health.

@slakker321 that's pretty much the best ryu combo. and the great thing is you can do it as soon as the match starts, assuming the other player isn't blocking/hitting you first.

@YehSmoshWorld If you want the easy way, walk forward then try to do a Hadouken while still walking. The input is Forward,Down,Down-Forward + Attack, which you should learn by heart if you want to play any Capcom fighter. They put it everywhere.

@SoggyHotDoggy Most folks prefer Akuma due to his higher damage output and greater mixup capability. He's also like, the KING of rushdowns. Honestly, I haven't fought any particularly effective Ryu players yet...

@protodevilin if you play on 360 and want to play a half way good ryu,i am more than willing.what damage i lack in full rushdown ,i make up for with short but powerful combos

@SoggyHotDoggy It's because every pro player reads him so well like a book, but that doesn't stop him from be a solid choice for casual and pro players alike.

From what I heard, his Hadouken assist can extend combos like a god in TvC.

@RandomAHOL Yeah in Tatsunoko vs Capcom he is a beast you can easily do combos with him and is just super quick. In this game is basically the same you can get pretty creative with him but people usually abuse is easy to do combo from what I experienced.

@GIR177 Yeah, but that's a completely different game. I think it's relatively safe to say that the Ryu in this game plays way differently than Ryu in Street Fighter 2.

True. But i think, what defines a good top tier character in terms of tournament level play is their mobility. Almost all top characters have some form of a wave dash, 8-way air dash, flight, double jump, teleport etc.

I feel Ryu still has a great balance, although he can no longer chain his Collar bone breaker, into Joudan makes me sad, it was one of my best combo string mix ups in TVC.

The upside is that you don't have to worry about how to aim shinku-hadoken anymore, as it can fire in different directions.

Another thing, you can short hop and use his hurricane kick to damage chip players as he quickly falls. Then you can follow that up with another combo, or trick them into a grab.

A fair trade, but Ryu was still beastly in TvC.
