I hate that everyone are saying that she has lost her voice now. Her voice is fragile, but still powerful and stunning! I went to one of her shows this year (May so by now her voice is warmed up :D) and I was totally shocked at how much voice was still left! (See Goldmine's grading scale for an analogy) If 1985-1993 was the Mint/Near mint voice, 1994-1996 was VG+, 1997-2000 was VG, 2001-2004 was Good, and 2005+ was Fair, at times getting back into the "Good" range since then. Unless we get vocal surgery, we'll never quite see the power of her hit-making days again.
I still remember that performance like it was yesterday, first time i watched it, boy, i cried. She was still the best at that time. She performed with heart, soul, power, emotion, life, love, class, elegance, and that pause she made before the highest part of ''i will always love you'' , only her could come up with that. @Museleaders She had the surgery done in 2007, and is still really recovering from that. She may not ever sound the same again because of it, but she still can sound great, for her voice seems to be still improving, much better than she sounded right after the surgery. Julie Andrews got the same surgery; she no longer can sing at all. But at least Whitney still has a voice, thank God!
@Museleaders I was at Whitney's Glasgow concert and I can say that when she's on, she is as good as this 2004 performance. However, when it comes to I Will Always Love You, here it's performed as a one off, but in her concerts now it's near the end so her voice will be tired. But a lot of the media have tried to make people believe she can't sing anymore, and the youtube videos don't do her justice because when I saw the videos for Glasgow I was shocked because she sounded AMAZING live !! :)

I've always wondered two things. Was she supposed to sing I Have Nothing? The band started it...and I also think she planned two different keys for I Will Always Love You. She gave them a little look before the climax and you can almost tell the key had been lowered.

i love whitney houstons medleys. shes the only artist i think who has many different medleys for her own songs. Check out AMA music awards 94 where she combines, "I love you Porgy, And I Am Telling You, and I have nothing....nothing but perfection and powerhouse.

WTF??? Happened between 04 and 09 her voice jus dosent sound like this anymore....2 things whitney is missing in 2010....obviously her voice...its jus Gone!!...and last her confidence...she dosent seem as confident as she did in the 90's i dunno its like she isnt the same...i cant describe what i want to say...i understand the drugs...but its something else

"the voice" is still there at this point in 2004 though not as good as it was in the 90's. Her spirit looks dead here. She looks gorgeous and her voice is still amazing but there's something about her eyes. They don't look right. She doesn't look well though this was a great performance. I'm NOT a Whitney hater btw. She's my favorite artist of all time and she can do no wrong in my eyes. Love you Whit =)

I hate that everyone are saying that she has lost her voice now. Her voice is fragile, but still powerful and stunning! I went to one of her shows this year (May so by now her voice is warmed up :D) and I was totally shocked at how much voice was still left! Would pay even the high price I paid to see her again anyday! :)

@omeirdeleon Whitney's voice has worn in various stages like a vinyl record. (See Goldmine's grading scale for an analogy) If 1985-1993 was the Mint/Near mint voice, 1994-1996 was VG+, 1997-2000 was VG, 2001-2004 was Good, and 2005+ was Fair, at times getting back into the "Good" range since then. Unless we get vocal surgery, we'll never quite see the power of her hit-making days again.

@luciagillis It was 2005 because thats when she quit the drugs and had to depend on cigarettes which worsens the voice.

I still remember that performance like it was yesterday, first time i watched it, boy, i cried. She was still the best at that time. She performed with heart, soul, power, emotion, life, love, class, elegance, and that pause she made before the highest part of ''i will always love you'' , only her could come up with that. The greatest Diva. I miss that Whitney.

i love whitney unconditionally,i bought her new cd, and it is good, but i am wondering what happened between 2004 and now? More drugs? (and i dont mean that with any hate or spite) because though whitney is still a better singer than 98% of the musicans today, she isnt as good as she is here

@Museleaders She had the surgery done in 2007, and is still really recovering from that. She may not ever sound the same again because of it, but she still can sound great, for her voice seems to be still improving, much better than she sounded right after the surgery. Julie Andrews got the same surgery; she no longer can sing at all. But at least Whitney still has a voice, thank God!

@Museleaders I was at Whitney's Glasgow concert and I can say that when she's on, she is as good as this 2004 performance. However, when it comes to I Will Always Love You, here it's performed as a one off, but in her concerts now it's near the end so her voice will be tired. But a lot of the media have tried to make people believe she can't sing anymore, and the youtube videos don't do her justice because when I saw the videos for Glasgow I was shocked because she sounded AMAZING live !! :)

I actually do support ALL recovering addicts...that is my work in ministry...
People have the wrong idea about addiction...just like any other mental illness, addiction deserves sympathy not criticism, per se...
I cannot think of one infant that desired to be addicted to drugs, alcohol, sex, or violence...addiciton is a compulsion and it can be corrected with the right methodology
There is no reason Whitney cannot overcome the issue altogether unless she chooses not to get PROPER help!!
