Random question: I'm thinking of selling 'Ol Painless along with my .32 ammo. I don't see a need for it anymore with Xuanlong, The Terrible Shotgun, Sydney's 10mm Ultra SMG, Lincoln's Repeater, and now this "Backwater Rifle" (soon - yay for GOTY Edition).

I can live with LP as it uses .44 caliber rounds, but doing this much damage with a 10mm seems a little over the top.

On a side note, I've completed Operation: Anchorage and am doing The Pitt now. O:A was pretty sweet and Pitt's good so far.

@haltrman93 dont. Ol' Painless uses common ammo, is easy to maintain has 0 spread (non V.A.T.S. shots go exactly where you aim them), and is an all around effective weapon against many enemies.

i prefer this gun when i dont feel like wasting 44 magnum rounds, i only have 550 on hand, while my 10mm has 1000 rounds and besides since they look identical, it's still pretty fun to use

@410adelson yeah its the regular fallout 3 no mods just an add-on from downloadable content. on the ps3 its $10, the 360 microsoft points i don't know and not sure how much its on the pc either. but they have a game of the year addition that has all the dlc's on it right away on the ps3 and 360, it has the regular fallout 3 and on the same disc it has every dlc on it. hope this helped with your question.

the backwater rifle is more ammo efficient and can have a possible 100% critical chance so i use it but the spread and ammo capicity is a problem (i know about the ammo glitch with unlimited caps so dont back up lincoln with the 44 magnum)

Ugh honestly I hate how the Lincoln repeater is easily repairable but you can't find ammo for it and the Backwater rifle has tons of ammo but you have to come all the way to point lookout to get lever action rifles to repair it. One way or another you are gonna have to inconvenience yourself to use them.

I would say the Backwater Rifle is better, esp. if you are in Point Lookout since you've access to repair it. With Better Criticals and a successful sneak attack, the Backwater Rifle does 225 points of damage while Lincoln's Repeater does 250. HOWEVER, you can get critical attacks with the Backwater Rifle EVERY SINGLE TIME you fire if you use it in VATS.

These weapons are the only thing that bothers me in fallout 3, the way he holds the gun and the way he cocks it. Holding it that way will get in the way of the sights and the way he cocks it is over expressed. But I guess thats to balance the time it takes for the next shot...

I still like the Back water because its easier to find ammo, plus if you spend a lot of time in Point Lookout then there's a lot of lever actions in good condition to repair it. With the Lincoln's repeater, of course theres a lot of hunting rifles but in horrible condition, and not to mention ammo!
