Stuck in VT 238: Waterbury, 4 Days After Irene

My family lives on Randall St which was featured in the video, we have a 9, 11, and 16 year old in our house. They of course were upset at first, but vermonters are tough, young and old. The youngest at least had the thought to bring her rabbit to her bedroom on the second floor, otherwise she would have really broken down. Though three months later our house is still not repaired, at least we did have flood insurance!

@jmarie0787 We had flood insurance too but hardly got any money. Oh and FEMA refused to help us.

I grew up in this wonderful town; I have always felt that I would want to return some day; so easy to see that the "towns folk" have changed in face and in some instances name but they are still so commited to helping one another. My grandfather owned a store in Waterbury that was moved from it's foundation during the 1927 flood; and so another generation now faces so much devastation as well.

My old home town, lived there for 19 years, kind of want to come back actually.

This was crazy! I lived in Readsboro, southern Vermont and the Deerfield River which flowed by my town.. I was watching the very all day and it rose from a trickle to a massive body of water! Readsboro suffered minor damage, to roads.. we had one collapse in someone's back yard and one family had to evacuate! I am literally stuck in Vermont, why leave.. Its my home state, I was born here.. its my home!!

@iveena why worry about the children coping? Here in Vermont, its the best damn place to raise your kids.. Vermont is awesome!! I know, I'm from and live in Vermont!!

@TheAngryAmericanwon I am concerned for the children who have lost all they have. A favorite stuffed animal or other special toy can bring so much comfort to a tired, confused child. Of course Vermont is the best place to live but even here when you loose everything you have, it's not so great.
