@nobleminstrel.. we have to be broken before we can be fixed. this song is about being a living sacrifice for God's cause. In order for God to display his glory through you, you need to be broken in spirit before him. If you are not broken, it will not be possible because our own self-sufficiency and pride gets in the way. so take my heart and form it take my mind and transform it and take my will and conform it to yours O lord! :) bless you for asking!

I don't hate on anyone's beliefs. To each their own.

I love everyone, I hate the actions of some, but they are still human. I truly wish I was capable of believing in God. It's easy for Christians to say "You can, Just have faith!", but they have never been in my shoes.

I have thought long and hard, and begged for God to reveal himself to me. I prayed for loved ones who were in the process of passing, in hopes that "God" would hear me and save them.

I still ask him if he's there, to show me, because I just simply do not see him there. I don't feel anything in my heart, though I try so very hard. I am a loving person, I am not evil. I simply am not capable of feeling God. I have been told that I will not be condemned to Hell for this, should I die this way. I am told God will judge me based on my decisions in life, and what's in my heart. That he will see I tried, and respect that.

People believe what they do for a reason and it's not my business to tell someone what to believe. Since the day I was born I was raised a Christian and that is why I believe what I do. I just can't see myself ever believing that he is there. I hunger for an existence beyond this. I desire so strongly the chance to be with my loved ones forever in a paradise. It sounds really good, but in my mind, the reality is that it isn't there.

We live here on earth, we die, and we cease to exist. This scares many people, which is why religion was created. To keep a healthy balance of sanity.

@rematchsixsix Not sure if you'll read this, but anyone is capable of God's mercy, you have to believe that. Admit to God you've done wrong you will find that Jesus died for everyone, not just us, but murderers, atheists, terrorists, and YOU too. If you can't believe that He's there, then you won't find Him. Those who truly seek him, without doubt or lack of confidence, will find Him "Without faith it's impossible to please him.." Hebrews 11 : 6

Are you suggesting that I should be able to believe in him beyond a shadow of a doubt, even though I don't feel him in me? I have searched for him, I have asked him to reveal himself to me so that I know he's there, it never happens.

Telling me I have to believe in him to find him is a bit contradictory. I have have it in me to believe in him, he is not there. He is absent. If he is real, I was never meant to know it or believe it.

So I'll just try to make the best of hell.

But somehow as the days went on I started believing in God for the first time. I learned so much during the summer especially about brokenness. We sang this song a lot at the camp and its what got me thinking about brokeness. @glcore I don't see how, that's what the song is about. Those who love God will cease loving sin and allow the Holy Spirit to conform them to his will. The part of the gospel many of these verses communicate is forgotten in the church today. I don't think the quotes are hateful but they are the truth, whether harsh or not.
