Years later i discovered this song and the whole "Hammerheart" album. This song and it's story combined so well with that old comic book. It became the musical theme to it.

Even now i sometimes find myself thinking about those long gone wars and the irreversible consequences the advent of christianity brought. And at the end of that thought process i always fail to convince myself that it's ok. I am saddened. I just really think it should have never happened.

When i was a kid i had a comic book that featured a story about Lāčplēsis (the Latvian national hero), i read that one countless times. The visual style and the story of that comic just stuck in my head. I kept thinking about it all - how the christians came, how they subdued the ancient Baltic tribes etc. I guess i never even had a chance to become a christian myself. The death of the mythic hero was just too painful. And the modern christian bullshit is just as painful.
