I saw a lot of repetitions too in his performances at difference occasions. But I can accept that. It doesn't seem interesting to audience, if you happen to see all different shows. But for a performer, I can imagine, it's actually pretty normal and necessary. It takes "75 repetitions" (his words) to tell a good joke. Especially, he is at the beginning of telling the jokes. This is not only true for jokes, but for all other speeches from all those great people.

You can't accumulate a few jokes with about 20 years living in the country? A lot of stories are just from daily life. As long as you are sensitive enough, commit and write it down whenever you get an idea, it's totally conceivable to get these jokes. But if you think he wrote all these at one night, no, not just him, nobody can be so confident to make every single joke funny enough to perform before President.
@townsgate168 I agree - not discriminating against new immigrants but judging by his accent and sometimes the hesitation in his delivery, I think he worked hard at memorising the lines which could only mean that he didn't write the speech - and as you've pointed out, you'd have to understand the culture to be able to come up with those jokes - he must have a ghostwriter.

Of course, variation is important. Otherwise, the audience will suffer. But it takes a little more time. I think he will do better and better.

@Ritheaniacardenas It takes a lot more than STUDYING history and preparation to be a good comedian. It's how you live - and his lines just sound fake
