You can do this, but then again you may as well send your post or link as a message.

Doing the private wall post doesn't let your recipient know that the post is private, and she may be confused by it and you.

it does work I've tested it on my other pc. Only you and the person can see it on both your walls and home pages.

yes, but only you and the person's Live Feed will be able to view it. Ask a friend if they see it and they will tell you no. I've checked on my other pc and it doesn't show up on their News Feed.
