The big thing in Dafur is gum arabic. Every time you buy coke, snapple, altoids, and a number of other products, you may be helping the government in Khartoum. They make more money on gum arabic than on anything else.
Well aren't we all supporting human rights abuses... buying technology (uses metals from DR Congo), chocolate (slave labor in Cote d'Ivoire), oil (from Equatorial Guinea, Angola very corrupt governments),... It is funny how much nasty things are going on in the world... and we westerners are funding those people. It truly is a world of lies and ignorance.
I bet the money is just pouring in for the oh-so-productive Darfurians. Hey have they got around to opposable-thumbs thing? It's pretty tricky - the rest of humanity figured it around, oh, 1 million years ago - but i'm sure a few more millions of relief aid the Darfurians will get it down.
Just got my notice for proxy materials. Fidelity Investments shareholder meeting is tomorrow. Fidelity wants to invest in companies that "substantially contribute to genocide or crimes against humanity."
This is a clear message to Melez Zenawi of Ethiopia's EPRDF. Killing, Raping destroying property of the Ogadeni Civilians will landing you to ICC. The Ethiopian leader Melez Zenawi and head of the Army must be brought to International Criminal Court for their crime against humanity in the Ogaden and State of Somalia.
I've always wondered whether campaigns like this actually make a large difference on the ground :-/ Unfortunately I think it's the government that has to make the change.
the best thing western trash can do is to leave sudan alone. the genocide only happens because of western inteference.

Ah, but the government can't change until the people demand it.
