.. a phenomenal vocalist that shows his ability to cross-over here into other genres, and put his own spin on it. A music producer with no equals.... I think he attacks this one with such ease... The lack of "punch" that normally accompanies a Felix number is not here because that's not what he was trying to accomplish. I think this was brilliant - and shows versatility just not found in the great majority of rock music producers of his day.
This just cracks me up! Here's Felix on the cover, all dressed up like he's geting ready to go swinging at "Studio 54", with the music to match!
On a serious note, however, he had a right to do whatever he wanted with this song, as he virtually did everything but write it. He was the driving force behind the production of "Disraeli Gears". He helped Cream sound great.
Doesn't quite cut it as funk. Very lounge lizard. But one must remember Felix was the orchestra conductor for Dinah Shore. He was down on his luck at that point. Maybe this was a way to advertise himself to Vegas.
Too bad Felix stooped to this - it's really terrible. He was a brilliant producer and a perfectly good singer and bassist - but this clearly was made at a nadir in his career.
