This is one of my favorite movies of the past 10 years. What a cast! Meryl, Lily, Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, Virginia Madsen, Maya Rudolf, Kevin Kline. It's a pure dream of a movie. But it was released the same year as the horrible "Devil Wears Prada" so that's the Meryl movie people saw that year.

from 2:00 on, the melody is most definitely the traditional version of "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross". also, while Lily Tomlin is singing the alto part, she is not spot-on. understand, this is criticism only, as i love her comedy style/facial expressions, which is probably why they brought her on as part of the cast, contrasted with Meryl Streep, who is an amazing actress, and sings better here than she did in 'Mamma Mia!', which is a boon to this production.

There is a version called Wonderful Cross by Michael W Smith which is a similar tune to the one in this video. It is slightly different to the one sang by Kathryn Scott. The one by Michael W Smith is closer to the original version I think :)xx
