this one sounds kinda melancholy yet makes me feel peaceful. His calm voice has a good match with a guitar and a harp. ive found another fave tune of Donovan's music. yes, im a fan of him.
I got this album shortly after I came home from Vietnam. I still have it. I listened to it over and over again while I was in the Army, but not since. I think this and Peter, Paul, and Mary In Concert kept me from killing myself to join my A Team who all died there. Former Sp5 Fred Miles, 1st Special Forces Group, 1968
ty, ty, ty, ty you for sharing! .,.,. LOVE this! ... can't seem to get enough! ... re-connects me to, oh so much... peace, kindness, openness, gratitude, etc etc etc... all good things in this wonderful realm, so natural, simple... etc etc... just wonderful... valuable! .... hmmm... rich, deep... oh it just goes on and on and on :) Yes! Yes, yes, yes! :) Yay! :D
donovan was brilliant in the sixties until he left his partner then everything went wrong. his first couple of albums are amazing and this is probably the best
This song take me back to the summer of 1968, living in a castle on the shore of Lake Windermere in the Lake District, and playing this album and that old jingle jangle Byrds stuff non stop.
On my copy of A Gift From A Flower To A Garden, right around 2:49, there's a gap of silence that lasts around 20 seconds, and it's kind of weird hearing it properly. I kind of got used to the song suddenly stopping and restarting...nonetheless, this is an absolutely beautiful song. The same goes for all the other tracks on the album. Just gorgeous.
I absolutely love this song. A gift from a flower to a garden is the first album I've heard from Donovan and I love it. The stand-out tracks are as strong as some of the Beatles best material.
I love the sad melody of "he said I wanna hear all, that's pretty"
@ElGoodo oh i agree...my dad would play this album in my childhood while he painted in his studio at the back of the house, and that sweet, sad melody of that very line makes my heart swell and soar to this day...:)

Just found some 4 inch reel to reel tapes in the attic and heard myself playing this to a friend for the first time.
I'd completely forgotten about it so picked up the guitar and started to play it again
Thanks so much for posting this and bringing back wonderful memories
