My mason/miner went insane because I did not have metal materials for him to build something. Not too bad I thought until I realised that he was wielding a iron pick that I had just bought from a caravan. He killed my militia commander, some farmers and a dog until he was shot to death by my archers. Before he died I checked him out. His back was broken from two parts and his legs were cut open but he still kept at his killing spree. Damn those insane guys are tough!
I got a problem with my Expedition leader going into a posessed mood and I can't seem to make the dyes he demands or the animal skins any time soon. Lots of fun, but I would really not want to lose this guy.
I need body parts, my dwarfs were in a party when one went into a fey mood. I have no animal traps. The dwarf in the fey mood is my militia commander. I dunno why, but I think I'll have to make my whole fucking army again, just because of my lack of luck
possessed dwarves do NOT recieve exp bonuses, only strange moods do, as another entity is controlling what the dwarf is doing themselves, the dwarf gains no experience.
As i was watching this video, my expedition leader (carpenter) went possessed and kept muttering Othesulleng, so i was like " WTF does he wants?" In your video, you said if he didnt get the items he wanted, he'd go nuts, so i though i was screwed. Finally, i understood he had gotten what he wanted and that he was working on it. I was really happy and i was expecting a extraordinary item, but turns out he mad a ashen barell.. ..:/
@Xtranormalstudio263 ; After that, both my mason and my bone carver went possessed. My mason build a legendary...coffin, and my bone carver wanted blocks and shells. I didnt have shells and the eleven merchents had just left, so he went nuts and killed himself, so i burried him in the legendary coffin. Moral 1: having possessed dwarves is neither good nor bad. Moral 2: Shit happens. :/
how do you remove and add skills? say for example youre building a trade depot but you cant because you dont have a dwarf with architecture. how do you make the dwarf learn architecture? help
Umm... Problem: When i try to place down the smooth designation it doesn't do anything even though i have a dwarf with the Stone Detailing skill. Any help?
May that dwarf is doing something else? I think a dwarf will do the job he has the most skill in first. Try limiting his work to stone detailing only, or make more dwarves with the skill. My miners were all engravers for when they weren't digging something (not often)
@boobmikesmith Oh, that's pretty common, most of the time the wrong thing is that you smooth the wrong material, remember, only stones and rocks can be smoothed, clay, sand etc. can't be smoothed out.
This game is very interesting. I love and still play Dungeon Keeper 2, but I think I may get this game and try out some of the smaller levels. The sheer scale of this is immense!
It is important to understand that if a dwarf is in a 'fey' or 'secretive' mood that when they make their artifact they will also get legendary status in the skill they used to make it.
Possessed unfortunately does not give you a legendary stat...but still gives an artifact.
My first secretive mood was a weaponsmith who made a legendary crossbow...but only champions will use artifacts! GAH!
I still don't understand what making the floor tiles is for. You used to to fortify your outside fortress to shoot through them or something? I don't understand...
if they r possed they dont gain exp, if they r taken by strage mood they become legendary states (highist skill lvl (altho you can go upto legendary +5))
If I recall correctly, when a dwarf goes into a possessed mood, he won't gain ANY experience after creating his artifact; it's only the other moods that grant the XP. Thanks a bunch for these tutorials, though. They've been a big help to me. :D
According to the wiki, crossbows firing damage is independent of the material the crossbow is made out of, instead relying on the bolt's material. However, melee hammering damage of the crossbow is dependent on material...
I don't see why you need 3-tile wide walls, because fortifications (which I assume you will be building in part 15) only need to be next to a floor tile, they don't have to be above one.
Minor correction: 'possessed by unknown forces' dwarves don't get skill from the strange mood. Other strange moods (fey moods, for example) give a massive experience boost, though.
I have a possessed dwarf. How do i know wich workshop he wants? pls help cuz the last mad guy killed some dwarf D:

I love the names you give your dwarves
The more dwarves arrive at your fortress, the more obscure their names become, and I love that
The older ones are kinda bland, like Mario and Sonic, but JC Denton and Mike Haggar? My god!

Floor tiles are just so your dwarves can walk on them.
Fortifications are for your dwarf to shoot through.

The enclosure was too close to a cliffside, so he made a floor that extended out into a symetrical shape.

My crafts dwarf became possessed and created a maple barrel, and gave it some weird name.
Then one of my engravers engraved an image of:
"Engraved on the wall is a well designed image of a elf and a elf, by Zasit Dumatoshur. The elf is striking down the elf."
and the title of the engraving was "The Nourishing Baby"
:O
Kind of disturbing.
