  • Ahhhhhhhh, the widowmaker !!!

  • I want to buy a 74,or 75 just like this.I just love that 2 stroke sound,nothing else quite like it,Dam,I love 2 strokes.

  • Dam,I love that sound.

  • love the way the old two strokes hardly smoke at all.....the new ones are all mosquito foggers when cold

  • lol...people should have sued Suzuki back in the day. ive tig welded a couple hundred of these bikes in 25 years...cracked or broken gooseneck welds and rear shock mount/swingarm to frame mounts. This bike and those damn Kawasaki KX450's back then...way too much motor for these frames

  • this bike sounds healthy compared to my ts 400

  • yep, I noticed that with my TS 400 too but the TS still pulls like freight train. My TM 400 is super light compared to my TS 400. Both are still fun to ride. Takes you back to the day when you swing your leg over them.

  • I had two TMs and a TS Apache. The Apache was a dog the tms were wheely bikes. Better have a boot on when you kick it. Really hurt your arch and slap you in the calf.

  • i got a 78 suzuki 185 to restore

  • how many bikes do you have

  • 7.....Husky wr 400, suzuki tm 400, suzuki ts 400, suzuki rm 125, suzuki pe 250, suzuki pe 400 and a Honda mt 250

  • Wow that started easy, must be in a good state of tune.Ive read the ignition is to blame for all the motor madness,it advances the timing indiscriminately scaring the rider half to death.

  • Widowmaker !!! The most powerful engine paired with the most ill handling frame ever built. What memories !!!

  • awesome bike! Vintage mx bikes have so much character, just like old muscle cars.

  • The later TM 400's were tuned a little better and suzuki brought the power down to make it more liveable,

    pretty paint too,

yellow with that med green, sweet,

  • thinking of getting a TM like this,

  • Like the sound of it. Is the timing fixed on this bike using a TS ignition or is it still dangerous?

  • all stock with the exception of a flywheel weight. Still has the oil pump hooked up!Has the light chromemoly frame.Super light to push around. Fun bike to ride, I find myself sitting partially on the tank when I open it up, hasn't spit me off yet. You can almost smell the sweet castor 2-stroke exhaust in the video.....

  • a 1971 SUZUKI TM-400R or the cyclone for short lol if you want broken bones this is the bike for you as you go from 4 to 40rpms in 5 sec you feel the front of the bike leep 4 feet out and you hit the ground 2 secs later the bike lands on you braking a couple of bones good times i have had on these bikes i and many others would say the most dangerous bike of all time

  • this bike your showing is a 74. the 75 had a different scheme on the tank. But all do respect, nice Bike.

  • Yes, this is a 1974. Thanks, fun bike

  • The infamous TM400 with the lightswitch powerband. 7 hp to 40 hp just a few hundred RPMs away from each other.

  • Very nice bike and was wondering would you like to sell it?

  • maybe someday....I'm cosmetically restoring it now and will display it for years after that.

  • The dirt equivalent of an H1

  • It does move some real estate when you open it up...:)

  • once it get's in your blood it never leaves

  • I had a TM 400 back in 1985 I bought for like $50 when I was teen. To me it was a monster to bad it wasnt running.. I wish it was around now Id fix it and get it running. What year is yours and what years did they make them?

  • this one's a 1974, Suzuki made these from 1971 to 1975. Fun bike!

  • Great oldschool bike! Very nice man...2strokes forever!

  • In the Guinness book of world records?

  • Try a baack flip on that sucker and see where it gets ya LOL

  • Ahhhh..... the good old days! The smell of Bel-Ray two stroke oil, compression releases, down pipes and endless summers in the dirt!

  • once it get's in your blood it never leaves

  • I quite preferred the smell of Castrol to the synthetics like Klotz and Bel-Ray. It smelled like french fries.

  • some people liked to bolt on the TS forks as these had bolt holes to use the for brace. Not as thick walled tho.

The bars are a solid aluminum bar made by Easton, pretty light weight for solid bars.

  • looks just like our 250. although i dont think we have the original forks. and you have dif handle bars dont ya?

  • i had a tm 125 74 and that thing flew for a little 125, cant imagine how fast that would be. nice bike

  • I would like to have a tm 125 and a tm 250 and line them up like they were on the showroom floor as I remember them as a kid.

These bikes take you back to a simpler time. Only thing you worried about was where the next tank of gas would come from, mom's car or dad's when he got home from work. I still get that gas taste in my mouth sometimes. Good times.

  • I raced the 1972 version of this bike, we lowered the engine in the frame, moved the top shock mounts forward, and installed a heavier accessory flywheel...also rode it horsing around on the dirt for along time...wish I had it back...

  • This one does have the flywheel weight, very smooth but strong power band like the TS 400, awesome to ride. very easy to work on.

  • This machine does look in very original condition.

If correct the TM's did have a kick start linkage which require regular maintenance?

  • pretty simple kick start, Does not required any attention that I'm aware of. If the return spring does break(rare) it will require splitting the cases to fix it.
