My dad got to fire one of these for his training for Vietnam. They kick and are extraordinarily loud. His ears hurt when they fired, and he was 1/4 of a mile away. It was also totally wet, because it had been raining for days. However, the guns kicked back so much, that they managed to dig up dust from under the ground and scatter it when they fired. Dust out of the mud. I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to see one fire. :)
