I saw his performance in Singapore last year. Engelbert is the best ever. Thanks for posting this video. I love this song and I'm always touched to hear the way he sings it everytime.
I Love You ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK YOUR MUSIC KEEPS ME ALIVE. YOU ARE A BLESSING TO MUSIC..SOME DAY I WISH I COULD MEET YOU IN PERSON... I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED YOUR MUSIC... LOVE CINDY
Engelbert desrves to be in the Hall Of Fame. Listen to that voice, and he is also one handsome man. He deserves so much honors , he was the most romantic singer and desrves so much more credit for all his talents.
That Voice!!!! I have been an Engelbert fan since the early 70's. Saw him many times in concert and met him a few times backstage. He is exactly how he appears, handsome beyond beleif and one of the best singers I've ever saw!!! He's alot older now but I will always remember him as this goddess man with the most incredible voice!
This guy just had to be an Anglo Indian, with his charming looks and deep voice, just like Cliff Richard is an Anglo Indian (Go East go West) the Anglo-Indians are the BEST!
This is one of a kind, a rarity indeed. The video is very simple, yet its simplicity, Engelbert's rendition, and the song itself ARE WORTHY OF SUPERLATIVE DESCRIPTIONS. Wow, this is a rare treasure indeed. Thanks a lot.
This is from Vesti La Guibbia - Pagliacci Caruso sang this .....the melody is the same, the words, the meaning is the same. The power in Engelbert's voice is even better than Enrico Caruso ( if you listen to oneof his recordings, of course, sound and recording was not all that great. I always pictured Engelbert doing something like that on a Broadway stage. I will settle for this recording, as it is the best version as far as I am concerned.
loc139: It's an adaptation/variation of "Vesti La Giubba (Put On The Costume)" by Ruggero Leoncavallo. The same basic melody was adapted earlier by Teddy Randazzo ("The Way Of A Clown") and Jackie Wilson ("My Empty Arms").
Also known in the land of Sold Out Gold as "No More Rice Krispies".
in this clip he sings from his heart. i remember him just like this when i first seen him. i use to watch his show with my mom and dad every week. i love to listen to him song.
My main man Engelbert can sing Opera also. All right Engelbert. That's the way to go,For a guy who had tuberculosis once upon a time. You got some power brother .Singer Elvin Rock.I am on you tube also folks
I agree he has a beautiful voice. Have been trying to hear Heart of Gold but cannot seem to find this song in Youtube. I hear it so many times on our radio station
Engelbert is one of a kind. I wish cloning was available for humans, I would give my vote a zillion times. God bless the King, Mr. Humperdinck. Love and kisses for posting it.
The lyrics were written by Les Reed, Jackie Rae. The melody is definitely "borrowed" from the Opera, Pagliacci.
I saw Engelbert at the Proctors Theatre, Schenectady NY in Early 2007. Although he definitely shows signs of aging, his voice is still very strong and melodic.
I wish we had more dvds to watch..........he made too few and maybe he should do tv specials or tv movies?? He is still a handsome man and quite the personality to go with the entire package!! He must realize he is "ONE OF A KIND" performer and cant be duplicated ever............
mrtrashcan; Yes, this song was also used in an episode of "Seinfeld". (The opera episode where crazy Joe De Vola dresses like a clown and stalks Jerry & Elaine). Engelbert handles it well though and he's far more focused during ballads.

I never Tire of his timeless, romantic voice. It sounds the same today as it did in the 1960's when he first began.

It never got as much play as it should have in my opinion. Sounds almost "classical" to a point...Bob
