oh and by the way thank you kind sir for taking the time out of your day to post a video explaining how to do this for those of us who arent quite as skilled as you yet. Much appreciated.
@TiagoMcCready Thanks for the comment. That's a great idea that I add in the pile ... I have at least 50 topics for videos I want to cover in 2011. I'll keep you posted! Marc-A
@pagans68 Nice to hear that! To me, simply practicing scales and arpeggios diagonally made me play (and think) the music differently. I'll be uploading more "diagonal" stuff on JazzGuitarLessons*dot*net soon ...
This video is great. I could always solo in major but I could only do it on the second position. But now your diagonal playing has me soloing all over the fret board like a real jazz guitarist. Thanks
@Swaggariite I'm glad it helped you. I know everybody has a different "take" on the guitar fretboard but this (diagonal) really opened up my playing. Thanks for watching. Marc-A
@jazzguitarlessonsnet Yeah, thank you. You are doing a great thing with these videos. I instantly felt like I was twice the guitar player I was before.
hi from turkey..friend plz dont stop sharing this great videos with us..i always watch ur videos, and visiting ur webpages..thank u so much thx friend god bless u.. :)
Marc-Andre Seguin and Marc-Andre Hamelin need to get together and jam sometime.

@11jupitercowboy8 so who's that Hamelin guy?
jazzguitarlessonsnet 4 weeks ago
@jazzguitarlessonsnet He's actually a classical concert pianist. I was being goofy but he is quite eclectic in his tastes. Maybe it's possible?

@11jupitercowboy8 Haha! Nice. Yeah, anything it possible in my corner of the world! (-:

Hey Marc!
I'm really enjoying to learn from you.
I'd like to know, if you can post a lesson about playing jazz over one-chord harmony (maj, min, dom, or a blues), just like a loop.
What to use (and how) the little tricks, like chromatisms, intervals, scales (?), tempo, and all those jazzy things!
Thanks for opening my eyes :)

Thanks for taking the time to make this.
It has really opened up my playing so much, like finding the link for getting out of the box.

@xbadmeetsevil21x @ 1:45 I'm playing G major scale : G A B C D E F#
The idea is to organize fingerings so they become "diagonal" ...
I built a page here on the website... (the address is given during the video)
