listen guy.. I noticed you never stated your source... you were not in the room, and yet you seem to be so passionate about something you "HEARD." The sad part about all of this is that this story could be entirely false and people jump on d bandwagon and argue. And this s*** abt if it were the other way around, the east indian being victimized... if we keep thinking like that, then we are just as bad as the person who made the statement! I am an indian with 3 negro bother in laws who i love.
Expose the school so voices can be heard. That racist teacher needs to be reprimanded....only in Trinidad do these things slide. "Here every creed and race find an equal place" Our anthem is therefore now a lie...sad...very sad. But I truly hope that God STILL blesses our nation!
Black people need to wake up, not saying be racial as all east indians aren't! but we need to be conscious! We are be limited and we don't stand up for our rights. Perfect example Mr. Austin Jack Warner, he may not be perfect but he was once said to be the HARDEST working minister, why is he being sidelined now?
racism rares its head every where I go and believe me its not only done by east indians ,African people are just as bad even worse I have been a victim of racist actions and that never stopped me from becoming who i am
It's a shame that you see this as insignificant. I don't know if you realise but we live in a world where racist speech is considered criminal and in places like the US & UK police investigations often take place after the uttering of such slurs because of the hurt and social damage that are caused.-in fact as we speak police inquiries are underway in the English football league and one player was fined over $600,000 for lesser remarks. And you seem to glory in repeating the same offensive words
This teacher should have been fired on the spot but I am unclear as to why this orator says that the VP's inaction proves he deferred to a white man. Could it not be because he is lazy? This is not about whether black people are smart. The teacher's stupid comment is not worth arguing against. This recording is dividing T&T. I boasted to many Americans that Trinis don't hang on to Africa or retain hatred from slavery. Being a Trini IS the identity. Don't let a charismatic orator take that away.
@TriniChristmas. You sir think that trinis not holding on to African roots is something to boast about???? We sir were conditioned to act like this, it began in slavery and perpetuated even up until you read this and will continue into perpetuity.
let me give you an idea to mull over:- do find it strange to see and hear an indian person listening to indian music or an asian person listening to asian music? how many africans do you know that listens to music from africa???
@TheDanbox22 I believe that basing your identity on a culture that you have limited love for or link to limits your ability to truly connect with the one in which you live. I apologize if you felt I was saying that people should ignore the lands of their ancestors, but it should not isolate you within your own community. In the US (referenced by the orator) the term African American serves as a means to keep an entire culture marginalized. Yes I am VERY proud that a Trini is a Trini is a Trini.
No African, Euro or Indo anything. And by the way, calypso is deeply rooted in African music and we listen to is as a country! I love the way we celebrate as a country. Non-Hindus celebrate Divali, non-Christians celebrate Christmas. It's wonderful and trust me when I say that many American are in wonder that we have been able to achieve what we have. Not that we're perfect ... there's still work to do (as is clearly evidenced by this ridiculous teacher).
@Santimanitay An interesting listen, but his choice of inflammatory and insulting language does little to further his cause. Again though, his comments further cause black people to stand apart, not be a part of. I respect that he has obviously put thought behind his words, though. I think he also needs to understand the difference between culture or a culturist and nationalism.
Brother David,
Have you written the apology/speech?

It's funny how the idiots below don't even know the full situation aside from this bigoted man is saying.
Hasn't your grandmother ever told you that there's 3 sides to a story, Your side, My side and the Truth. All you faggots are missing the truth.

@yoshabelle57 Even if he foolishly wrote on the paper. What she did was wrong
and not because something may seem the norm to you does not make it it silly or superfluous.
i also wish to let you know by calling the presenter black and stupid is also wrong
and ALSO displays a DIVISIVE CHARACTER by you sir!
