  • thank you so much for putting this on youtube! it's a great movie.

  • stupid hippies! what did you change?

  • It's a psychedelic hippie move...who cares about plot holes. I'm suprised it even had a plot :)

  • Why were the police after the girl? What happened to her brother? Too many loose ends, otherwise o.k.

  • This is shit.

  • LOL, This is Hollywood's version of the us Hippies, flower children. It was annoying at the time, but it's amusing now, thanks for posting it. I love Jack Nicholson's fake Ponytail, and the guy with glued on sideburns, A DICK CLARK PRODUCTION ,HE WAS REALLY HIP BACK THEN,( NOT) !!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheGB1950

Actually, it was more accurate than a lot of people want to admit, including the cheesy fakeness.

  • @MegaElvisd I guess so, It might have been different on the East Coast, where I'm from, It's still a real hoot to see how the media viewed us "hippies". lol

  • Gosh Thank you hope they all last - Amazing :) QC

  • Reality is a deadly place.

  • Hippies :)

  • great movie.

i wish richard rush had been more prolific after the 70s.

I have to say, I think acting-wise the person who really steals this movie is Dean Stockwell. Something about him in this film is really mesmerizing.

  • Jerry Garcia eating a banana at 2:05! haha (i think?)

  • I'm jealous of this time. This is my favorite era and movie. Thank you for posting this <3. Jack Nicholson was so hot back then .. wow. I really wanna just die and go back to this time lol. *Le sigh* All the songs are so good.... blah I can go on about the 60's.

  • I distinctly recall "Incense And Peppermints" by the S.A.C. as the opening theme when I caught this on TV a couple dozen years ago. Either this or the TV version did some theme song switching.

  • @noahf67 the dvds releases do tend to change some stuff sometimes getting rid of the actual music alltogther due to copyright problems but also it may have opened with incense because it was their most identifyable song for tv airplay along with shortening the film size reformatting

  • I cut class from school to see this movie on tv...love this movie...especially Max Julien I follow his career and than in 1973...he starred in...The Mack...love him and the cast.

    Peace and Love,

    Sparkle

  • I wish I was there. I was born at the wrong time. Please take me back!!

  • thanks for posting this movie. i gotta see it since i like hippie, psychedelic drugs, and psychedelic music!

  • Let's Smoke Dope

  • I was just a young child in 1968. But In some ways, I wish I had been born 15 years sooner, so i could have experienced the late 60's as a young adult. On the other hand, if I really had been born 15 years sooner, I guess I'd be in my 60's now. :P

  • This is where it's at!!! ICE BAG!!! 7.28 i think thats a reference to a type of Weed,Jefferson Airplane called there Publishing Company Ice Bag cause they dug the stuff so much!! Outa Sight!!

  • I Dig The Haight Ashbury Scene in 67 but i have to say that the British Flower Children knew how to dress better in 1967!!!WOW!!! how superficial of me man!!! LOL.but this is a good period piece & its good to see th SAC & The Seeds.

  • aaah strawberry alarm clock

  • Where I'm movin there. These parts South Florida they must have put sumpin in that feed(dats the word anyhow) cause them dere cow terds ain't coughin up da goods...POP's oh yeah I almost forgot L O fuckin L...

  • What about Jack? Anyone reconize him? Shrooms and Cid in the early 90's? Wow you were really roughin it back in the 90's! Don't make us laugh junior! Early 70's maybe...I bet those shroons were frozen in somebodys freezer for decades because that's the last time they were growing outa cow terds. Don't make me yawn with the 90's!

  • @rocknrollhoocheecoo What the fuck are you talking about pops? Just cause your outta the scene doesn't mean the shrooms stopped growing. hahaahah

  • Produced by Dick Clark!

  • Having done LSD and shrooms in the early 90's at a few rave parties when I was a trance dj, the experience when too much has been taken, people looked just like they do in the scene of this movie where their friend is geeking out bad, and his friends look like walking corpses. It aint fun because your mind says "this is real" and it's tough to reverse what looks like something permanent. The room appears to move, tree roots come toward you, many colors, and many many swirling bending sounds

  • @1skunkus yes i agree you can make a damm fool out of yourself. One time back in the 90s i dropped a small amount of acid in a club and saw some really wierd and intresting pyramid. This pyramid seemed very very important to me so i went to the main stage stood on top of a high speaker so everyone could see me shut my eyes and started making this triangle shape with my fingers over and over, I wanted everyone to see what i saw.I still shudder and with embarrassment now when i think about it

  • Rather than commiserate over a situation that can't be helped, I'll thank my good fortune to have have lived there from 1958 to 1960. It wasn't all peaches and cream(we lived close to the Western Addition)but there was a kind of order, comeraderie and an atmosphere of neighborliness, at least at Pierce and Fell Streets. Sections of Clement and Geary had their own distinctive atmospheres and personalities. Not gonna be sad; gonna be thankful for the good things and times.

  • Jack Nicholson tokin' up. I LOVE it. ;])

  • beautiful

  • hope i enjoy? never seen it... i was born in 68 ... i'll let you know thank's. for putting some of the older movie's. remind's me my dad & mom were there in time once

  • Thank you for posting and my favorite movie to!!!! Everything is a part of everything else!!!

  • This is one of my favorite movies! I love everything about it!!! Makes me wish I was born in 49' instead of 69'.

  • This is an absolutely great movie!!! It revolves around a very pretty deaf girl looking for her missing brother with the help of Mumblin' Jim, a hippie rock band in the Haight. There are some great acid trips, including a scary one experienced by a psychedelic poster artist, and the film has an overall sense of genuine fun. Very Very Very highly recommended!!!

  • why wasnt i born in the 60s...

  • This is one of my favorite movies ever! Thank you so much for uploading it. I want to watch it over and over.

  • Now I know how Jack played those wild characters in later movies. He has been on Acid since 1968.

  • 06:42 - Is that the same actor as Colonel in Boogie Nights (1997)?

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. I have been trying to find this since 2008

  • 4:38 Classic Mustang ! Booyah !

  • The Beginning scene of this wonderful movie reminded me back in the time when I went to see Phish and The Dead. The scene especially at the parking lot was filled with peaceful hippies selling tye dye clothing, food, and other goods. I didn't do drugs but at least but I liked it.

PS: I'm speaking this as a Neo Hippie and I wished I was born in the years 1950-1952 so I could be old enough to live in those times. Too bad I'm 20 years old :-(

  • @lenini056 i lived in those times! it was really cool. summer of '68 was the best. i was only 14, but i still knew what was going on :)

  • @threebyzanablond : Me and mom were in S.F. in 1969--B.A.R.T. was under construction, hippies were everywhere, Carol Doda was in her heydey. The city was in total flux. Now it's complete corporate crap.

  • @buzzclick500

Man I thought I was the only one who thought that way,Mayor Gavin Newsom The dingbat fucked things up ther big time, hes a screwball and a fucking loser besides being a lunatic, wonder how many more obervations hes made in the Haight Asbury.

He had a plave in the dead sea below the earth when he dies allong with the other corppies. the sixties are going tyo happen like it did 45 years ago.

  • @orangewestpro : I still have my first necktie that Mom bought for me at the Emporium(there were no shopping malls in 1959); people didn't leave our residences unless we were publicly presentable. Cable cars were a jump-on and jump-off affair. Trolley drivers were the BOSSES on their street-cars, and sometimes had to get out, climb up on the thing and replace the contact rail when it slipped off the overhead wire. It was truly a great city. Now it's a toxic waste-soaked ant-hill.

  • OK, so what... I am showing my age.... and can say I am a proud Hippie from the 60's.....

The sights and sounds of this movie really brings back a lot of memories of my days on Haight & Ashbury in 1966 - 67, getting stones at Pamhandle Park and hanging out with the Free Love Crowd......

FYI: You are having problems with Part Two.... There is No Audio...

Thank you for posting Psych Out..... I, really enjoy this flick....

  • Thanks so much!

  • They should do a sequel to "Psych Out" featuring Jack Nicholson as a 72 year old Stoney quitting his job on Wall Street and trying to get his Psychedelic band back together in the Haight. Of course everyone he knew then is now dead, so he ends up forming a grunge band.

  • Thanks for up loading it, I've seen it part way through once and couldn't find it anywhere. Very trippy ;)

  • i forgot dick clark had something to do with this movie being made..excellent

  • Thank U so much for uploading this!! Richard Rush also directed 'Hells Angels on Wheels' a lot of the same cast appear in this one...

  • The beginning is exactly how I felt when I first came to San Francisco, great film!

  • why am I living now, not when Jack Nicholson was so sexy.... ;(

  • LOL--we used to do that parachute thing in the '70s in elementary school...Does anyone know when it was invented?

  • Makes me want to go back to San francisco back in time,

  • I love the part where the girl hands her a flower through the window, I wish people did that now

  • definitely a "trip" back in time.

  • Far-out, groovy movie!!!

    Thank You!!!

  • Hey, the audio is great quality, thanks for uploading.

  • this is one of my favorites too! Thanks for uploading it!

  • Thanks alot. Been searching for this for a while.....
