Really enjoyed the video Cindy. I have gained even more respect for you. I had no clue your mom was into it too! That's so awesome. Kick ass on that 3rd Dan test!
and i am wondering am i doing a diffrent branch of it to or did you just not say the words in this video like when i am in class when ever we punch we have to say "Iya" and when we elbow or kick we have to say "pae"
However, a good practitioner of Tae Kwon-Do would utilise all target areas and all practical techniques if the need arose on the street. We are taught knee strikes and elbow strikes but for safety resons we only practice these on pads or in patterns/line work or set sparring.
Jeez u have awesome parents to go with you like that all the way to black belt! All the asian parents down here (including mine) really couldn't give a rat's ass about ANY kind of art (ex. Martial Arts). Just excercise and education. Anyways, i think as a video, you had a really nice quality to it, but i think TKD is overrated and not actually useful in an actual fight. Almost all Martial Arts teach respect, etc., but take somethin like Muay Thai (which i take) and BAM! ownage time =]
I wud have to disagree. Each art/combat sport teaches a set of Techniques eg hand and leg. They are then put into practice by the practitioner. Effectivness is on how good the Artist is not the Art. I would have to disagree on ur statement though and thats why. lol.
Yes, but the Artist is limited to the art. Correct me if i'm wrong, but most of the TKD matches i've seen are mostly kicks to the body or to the head (VERY FEW hand strikes), taken from a side-to-opponent stance.
However, Muay Thai teaches sets of simple, but extremely effective blocks and attacks, where, if put in the right place at the right time, itll effectively "neutralize" an opponent. Instead of learning different techniques to different applications, we learn techniques that can be applied at any time. In other words, we learn combat. TKD practitioners learn a sport.
I understand where you're coming from. BUT, The sparring that we take part in has strict rules . The most popular 'style' of Tae Kwon-Do is WTF (olympic) sparring with no punches to the head and ar rarely used to the trunk. However, The sparring is but a small part of our training. ITF/TAGB style sparring is alot more like Muay Thai sparring but all kicks and hand techniques are to the trunk, top of the shoulders or head.
Hey. I like this video! I love watching people progress through training from 'sloppyish' techniques to powerful techniques. I also love watching Black Belts perform Kwang-Gae lol. Its an awesome pattern! I was wondering if u cud tell me the name of the song that starts at 1:57. i've heard it b4(without vocals) but i like it with vocals aswell. Cud u please send it to me? Many thanx! Great video!
good video my brother and i are also black belts, and i like the wong fei hung theme music at the end, but one question my brother wants to know if you did tae guek or pal guek forms, because the don't look like our tae guek forms? his username is Saexhyung546
tkd266... perhaps like me ur a wtf-er... those doboks thy wearin are ITF, thy look a lil like karate, but the top is just designed like tht, it is still one top and not a "robe".
A) The first song is bye Survivor an American group; got a problem with that? B) Not every TKD federation or school uses the same uniform; what makes your opinion so correct? C) Learn to spell or no one will take you seriously. D) Get a life, loser.
Wow. I've been training since early 2002 (before you guys, obviously) and I'm still yet to get my black belt. Though, I only have 1 grading remaining to get the belt anyway.
Whoa cool video! I just turned 20 and I know nothing about martial arts and I'm just ABOUT to go get my white belt in Taekwondo LOL! I can't even throw a decent looking kick lmao...hopefully I learn...anyways cool progress clip...
This is very interesting. I wish I could've done something like this when I started out my training.
