I totally remember this, even though I was not quite six years old. I've stuck on my red n' blues as well and have to say - apart from the cannon, I'm somewhat disappointed.
I have some red & blue 3D glasses and can confirm that the effect works quite well today! The Michael Rodd bits also appear to have been filmed to give an effect for those with glasses. The logos behind him must be in slightly different locations.
Thanks for this. I vividly remember this experiment as I bought the TV Times with my pocket money for the glasses (I did this again for the scratch and sniff ITV experiment too, anyone remember this?). I didn't catch the Real World programme, but saw Fort Ti as it was broadcast. The canon coming out of the TV at the start was amazing!
I remember this, I was so excited about this. I was nine at the time and was very interested in any sort of TV innovations (3D, breakfast TV, satellite transmissions). It's a shame that British TV is such a load of old reality-based crap now! Ah, those were the days. Now, where are my 3D glasses....?
My mistake. I'm thinking of the half hour show which was probably on a different day (though I do remember that terrifying bat!). This is obviously a full film transmission, so it would make sense it was a Sunday. Can't imagine how this one slipped past me at the time though.
Strange show for a Sunday. I seem to remember it being aired on a Monday. Sad I know. If I'm not mistaken, the glasses issued with the TV Times were red and BLUE instead of red and green (as was usual with 3D movies). I'm sure there's a techy out there who could tell us why...
I'm also wondering if it was a Monday. If you look at my video titled 'LWT commercial break November 1982' there's a TV Times advert promoting 'The Real World' in 3D. So the question is, was the film 'Fort Ti' broadcast that same evening?
I seem to recall that The Real World programme demonstrating the 3D television was shown on a Monday. I believe the film Fort Ti was shown the following Sunday afternoon.
Heh, still more a novelty to me (despite the fact Disney has been dabbling in a new 3D process used for some of it's latest animated features). I remember a few movies that showed up on American TV as well that were in 3D as well in my lifetime.
I remember this, certainly being on a week day as I remember my dad coming home from work. I was 4 years old! LOL ;-)

I remember this being on ITV. The viewers were told to remove their 3d glasses diting the commercial break. I was about 10 and watched it in 2d!

Knowing Me, Knowing You, Ah-Ha!
I remember Mr Rodd very well from Screen Test, but having watched this he seems very much like Alan Partridge (especially at 2.14ish).
