I have the XJ like you and I am saving up to buy a WRX wagon as my daily driver. Need the trunk space for carrying computer parts to and from job sites. Also have a son now and a daughter on the way so still need the 4 door and some trunk space. lol

but I LOVE the way they sound! I can't wait to get mine and MOD it as well. haha

Factory recirc. Valve. No aftermarket BOV. it whistles cuz there is no catalytic converters on the car. So you can hear the turbo spooling, that's all. It was fun while I had it. Went through 3 trannys while I had it. Blew 3rd on the first tranny, upped the power a little, blew 4th on the second and third trans... Haha :) now someone in Maine owns the car...

performance- an extra 73 hp bigger injectors, intercooler, slightly different turbo, catless uppipe*i think*, about 1.5 lb extra boost, 2.5 liter *except 2006+ they all got the 2.5 now..

visually- wider fender flares, different interior, 6 spd tranny, larger spoiler, gold BBS alloys, DCCD, larger hood scoop *i think*..

there might be a few things i missed im not 100% sure

..lots of differences between the WRX and the STi...

it doesnt sound it here, but that exhaust was DEAFENING when i put it on my old GC. Maddad Headers, 3in uppipe to APS SR30 Turbo, then into a ebay downpipe to that exhaust. Easily 120db at cruise. My buddy bought it and repacked the can, sounds good on his Forester XT

if I were you I would just go with the STi wheels and tires. They are a little bigger than the 02 and 03 rims and then you won't sacrifice ride quality or top end performance.

you have no idea what your talking about. with a turbo car you want as free flowing exhaust as possible. all the backpressure is at the turbo. ther is a reason for running a full 3" turbo back setup.

great sounding car, how hard is it to replace that uppipe? and whats the Y hose kit for? ive got an 04 wrx with srs turboback (erz downpipe) cold air intake and cobb accessport v2 at stage 2. i want to keep upgrading and plan on a lightened pulley kit and uppipe if its not too hard to install, not sure what the next step would be, el header maybe... ive gonna post vids of it sometime soon
