  • @cheesemuffinality I said that we here in the US spend more time and money turning things into weapons then we do anything else. Which is true! I also said that we deserve better. Meaning that the time and energy we spend weaponizing things could be used for better things. Which is also true! Most military technology will remain military tech until it's outdated. My main problem is that it's a computer that can shoot people! Your name is cheese muff and you want to have an adult conversation?

  • Hey people, shut up with your comments about how it's not a good idea or whatever you think about it. It's not his video. Contact Lockheed-Martin about it.

Funny thing is that it's already been thoroughly accepted and tested by the military, so obviously they think it's a good idea.

  • and medivac would be IDIOTIC. You need to have a long-travel suspension or the poor bastard will bleed out and die from the bumps alone.

  • @redreaper2020 no you dont need suspension. it's not being used for 10 minute rides. it just needs to get them out of the engagement area into a proper vehicle, and it can do it quicker and safer than 4 troops can.

  • @cheesemuffinality Dude. Riding in a vehicle like this would kill a wounded soldier, all the bumping and jostling would do more damage. That's why ambulances have air-ride in the back.

And it's autonomous, yes, but it doesn't really need to be. For the cost, it's way too expensive. Why they accepted it, who knows.

  • @redreaper2020 yes over a long period of time, if the soldier has a neck or back injury, or possibly a broken leg. but if youre just getting someone who's been shot across a few hundred feet of road, it might be better than the jostling of four soldiers' feet hitting the ground. anyways, for that specific purpose, you are right, it's not the best idea. but they'll probably think of some solution, whether it's suspension or something else, to make it more 'wounded soldier-friendly'.

  • @cheesemuffinality "some solution" = they'll spent a shitload of money tomake a new vehicle, then never buy it, then do the same thing two or three times, before finally just putting some damn springs on the one they had. :D

Seriously, for EMT stuff, a soft suspension is a must. I didn't think that it'd matter until I talked to an EMT tech about it, they said it's a massive must. But tossin' some springs and suspension arms on it sohuldn't be hard.

  • 5:04 Dude, have you ever played a video game? People do that for FUN.

  • it's an idiotic idea. You could just get a jeep or the humvee instead and drop a few remotes on it, or an existing atv with a $200 remote system. And it has no suspension. Derp.

  • @redreaper2020 Funny thing is that it's already been thoroughly accepted and tested by the military, so obviously they think it's a good idea. Also you must not have watched the whole thing, because it's autonomous.

  • this is a good decoy vehicle to absorb ied hits.therefore put it out front with a weapon.the americans put much smaller robots into a combat role in iraq and failed because you could throw a blanket over it and it would be blind.still, uavs are far superior because they're quiet, can move quickly and have decent endurance and have enough accurate powerful firepower to take out the ied teams before they can plant their bombs.

  • @nphanlon1973 no it's not. it easily costs more than a house. a 155mm shell will blow the fuck out of the SMSS. you could disable the SMSS with a well-placed anti-material sniper round, and easily with a pound of c4.

Have you ever heard of the Aardvark JSFU Mark IV mine clearance system? google it. thats what can absorb ied hits.

Why would an insurgent have a blanket with him? he'll be dead before he thinks of that. Also, they dont really have teams and they plant them when were not there.

  • you know having a chariot , and 2 men carying it is more cheap than have that robot xD

  • if enemy capture the vehicule i mean with magnetic jam xD. i mean loook all the ammo !!! XD

  • @tommybui they would have protection against that i suspect. its not designed to be a drive right up to the enemy vehicle anyway. its just to carry provisions and extra support.

  • @jimmyhoffa9 i think they have to work on the exoskeleton and new guns in future instead of this

  • If I were a wounded soldier I wouldn't want to be driven around by a robot. I would want at least ONE person to be with me, talk to me... hold my hand and tell me everything will be all right again

  • @indendunklenschatten well the thing is, if you were wounded, with this you can have one guy working on you and with you, while a guy controls it via satellite, who can see all the enemies around you.

  • @indendunklenschatten thats whats gonna happen, the robot would just take you to a medevac vehicle. if i was a wounded soldier i wouldn't want to make 4 of my guys risk their lives trying to help me, i'd want them killing the bastard who shot me.

  • MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE is the movie

  • there a movie with something like this in it green joke face on a mack truck ..--.-.-.

    fill it up

  • The army discontinued the MULE program.

  • @man11withaplan this is SMSS, not MULE. "mule" is a term for any small vehicle used to carry loads. for example, a golf cart with a small bed on the back would be a mule.

  • i want 1 =)

  • I wonder if they'll mount the 120mm mortar on it.

  • That things reminds me of a dog... I know what I want for Christmas!!

  • war dont have moral so dont hope for 1.....

  • it need legs like a dog or a human acting like a dog the back is small legs and the front long leg and it must control by sensor like if you move your arm the front legs move if you move your legs the back legs move

  • thats just more things to go wrong

big chunky tires for off road use .thats what u want

  • @thatguysellscrack the 6 tire setup distributes the load. the vehicle isnt that big, so the tyres dont need to be either. i've seen a similar "mule" system, and they have a weird suspension mechanism so they can ride over vehicles and big obstacles. they obviously chose that wheel size for a reason. IMO tracks are better.

  • @TheFrogmanxxx search up big dog on youtube. theres a prototype which has dog like legs which can walk almost anywhere and not lose its balance, even ice and can carry a few hundred lb of gear.

  • the banana splits live

  • Primitive. Technology like this has been avalible for decades. I wish i could download my mind into the military and show them how a real fight with robots should be done.

  • @omaga99 they're developing the technology you no doubt think of. but they have problems. the robots break down frequently, the batteries run out, they get stuck etc. if the weapon jams, theres a electronic arm to pull the bolt back, but if its a gay jam, the system is screwed. theres also ethics to consider. suck, but what can ya do?

  • there will never be total peace so anything that can protect our troops should be welcomed

  • this isn't the mule this is the mule's little brother

  • @Sneak693 I think they were literally comparing it to an actual pack mule, not the MULE. You're right, the MULE is a totally separate platform.

  • WANT!

  • First of all, IT'S A SPECIAL CONTROLLER... Not a Sega Genesis or 360 controller... It is not a gaming controller!!! I should know, games are what I do. Anyway, I don't like it. Japan makes robots that can laugh, sing, dance, and help the elderly.. Work in hospitals.. We here in the US make them for war.. Humanity deserves better, we deserve better!!!!!!! We can choose to use robots for peace, but lets strap a gun to it instead! Great Idea!!! Morals? Whats that?

  • Wars will always be fought. Think about how many lives this thing will save. To secure the peace is to prepare for war.

  • i think it was einstein who

as long as there people on this earth there will be wars

  • @thatguysellscrack

    that might have been Hitler

    in any case, correct

  • @qzacidman it is a gaming controller, its designed especially for pc, just a crappy brand one. they're all over the internet.

  • @qzacidman many of the robots originally made for Explosive Ordinance Disposal and reconnaissance have been adopted for civilian use in disaster relief.

  • A remote controlled robot with wheels can be very effective if it's equipped with an automatic gun

  • god i fucking hate the guy who hosts this show.

  • Looks like diesel engine. I'll be more impressed when they start being more mindful of military vehicles power/fuel sources. The last thing some poor kids need is stranding because they ran out of gas.

  • they should make it electric or solar powered

  • @theslayer2099 solar powered?! hehe. solar panels (on full power production) put out like 142 watts. a electric engine for that needs around 100-200KW. and that engine needs to be cooled more than a combustion one. and lithium batteries are more dangerous than diesel fuel. and if they run out, they're screwed. good idea, but only where theres a plentiful supply of power. if afghanistan/iraq scenarios, the power is from generators so the energy transfer isnt as efficient.

  • @jimmyhoffa9 it might be indirectly powered by the engine, like the MULE, where the engine generates power to the electric motors.

  • @LimeyKat as many of their vehicles as possible use diesel engines because they generally have higher torque-which is good for hauling armor and ammo around and because its harder to ignite diesel than petrol if it gets spilt for instance.

  • LOL they're using a 360 controller ^^

  • no man, look at 4:06 thats not a 360 controller

  • no they are not its a saga genisis control

  • Hey, Thank BAE Systems too! We're doing a lot of work on the new model ;)

  • GJ Lockheed Martin! Ideas like this will save lives!
